  Not sure, but this could be a so-called "VLAN 1" issue. If the physical switch using VLAN1 by VLAN native/default and you should not set this VLAN on the virtual port group. In this case the tag VLAN for the packages are already removed from the physical switch and therefore the ESXi host will forward to the port marked group.

  Ive got two virts which are nearly identical and work in an active/active load. What are the options I have to ensure that these two virts never end up on the same physical host?

  I'm not looking for FT. I'll have two functional virts at the same time.

  The Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport is a driver built into Windows 7 and should not need to be updated. The correct version of the pilot was installed when Windows 7 was installed and no new updates of this driver is necessary. If and only if, Microsoft has released the update of the driver, you are trying to install, you should install it. Please check the source of the driver before installing this doubtful driver.

  I have physical server Dell powerEdge R710 with ESXI 5.0.I would build LAB environment, so I installed on this host physical 2 virtual host 5.1 ESXi, vcenter vcenter web etc. Everythink is workiing fine since I tried to run on the virtual host VM with 64 bit OS.

  I had a support of 64 bit-guest OS similar error: required longmode. See photo.

  I don't know what is happening. Please sent me some links or help if you've already seen this error.

  I just checked this procedure/instructions provided below using ESXi 5.0U1 623860 installed on the physical using ESXi ESXi host 5.1 has 838463 as the VM ESXi embedded and then loaded up a VM Windows 2008 R2 SP1 x 64 running on the nested ESXi 5.1 a VM and the VM Windows 2008 R2 SP1 64 x worked fine (well that much slower than if all were on a physical server running good) (course).

• Assign a static IP to guest with NAT Virt network adapter?

  I'll put up a * nix VM that I want to give out-bound network connectivity, but I want to make its services available only on my local machine (for example MySQL).  VMWare Player with NAT assigned a DHCP address, but because it is not update my host name resolution, to access a service on the client, I need to use the IP address.

  I would like to assign a static IP address on the guest, so I can add an easy to use in the host of my host file.  I can update my guest network interface file to not assign no problem.  I'm worried that I can use an IP address that overlaps the VMWare DHCP pool (and may occur a conflict of address when I turn on a new virtual machine), or outside the range of the virtual switch.

  Is this possible with VMWare Player, and is there something in the configuration files, that I might be able to change this?

  We bring a new ESX3.5 U3 DR/HA with Sun X 2200 cluster as nodes and experiencing several network problems.

  When testing failover nic that the Virtual Center displays correctly that nic is not available but does not show standby nic is active even if the old standby nic seems to be an OK traffic. Has anyone else seen elsewhere?

  This is a known issue, only way to see what is happening is via esxtop, you would see the mb of the jump from the first to the second network adapter.
