Alienware 17 FX lights

Hi, I recently bought an alienware 17. It works fine, but yesterday the lights stopped working. When I change the FX profile or make a quick change, the lights go on for a few seconds then turn off. They light up also for a few seconds when I turn on the laptop.

I did a bit of goggling and many questions, I found people with the old model. 17 x, but I have found really do anything with the 17 news.

Things, I tried to solve the problem...
Update the BIOS A05, made a diagnosis of the complete system. Came back ok, reinstalled the software order Center (3.0.29.0). Next step I guess is a BONE re - install?
Someone else has this problem or could help? I think of the support call. I got 14 days.

In random desperation?

After I've finished typing the last post, I rebooted for the 50th time after installing windows updates and reinstall the control center. This only got my lights work again... at least for the moment. I access quick-changed my color. 2 seconds and then black again. I activated "twilight zones" and the lights actually CAME. ? And they stayed on. I disabled "twilight zones" and the lights became brighter and stayed on. I would like to know if it works for you. I think I'll make sure all mirror is off later. Seems that there is an insidious bug with it.

  • Alienware 14 FX lights problem.

    Hello

I had my alienware 14 for about a month now, happy enough with it.

But from the very first launch, bottom right seeing fx is always lit in red color.

I can change the color to blue (or any other color), but it will look like red purple being allso active.

So recently, I noticed that when I play 2 payday on my AW 14 and let the game take control of my FX lights, the red light turns off.

And even when I close the game of red light will not go again, just when I restart my laptop it goes back.

Is it possible to allways turn off the red light?

  • Difficulty low Alienware 17 R2 lights

    Hello

I recently bought an Alienware 17 r2 or the new edition of 2015. It's a great computer and one of my favorite features is that you can edit the lights that shine when you touch the touchpad or keyboard. When I got it the lights that they were surprisingly light but 2 days ago, they have become very weak. I wonder if theres is something that changes their brightness because I bought this computer 4 days ago and if sa is already damaged, I'm really crazy. Please help me solve this problem.

    Thank you

    :)

I moved your message Alienware Club, where other Alienware users may have had the same problem and can publish what they were doing to solve the problem on their systems.

I'm including this paper which helps out Alienware FX and going on the way to solve problems where the lights don't are not marketing at all, that they are thin, or situations where you cannot change the lights.

The book is long enough, but has some good steps.  You can run AlienFXTester, here's a YouTube to review the process.

I hope this helps and answer please if you continue to have problems.

  • Alienware 14 Fx lighting problems

Hello, I do not know really what to put as the subject, so will have to do. However, I have problems with the lights of FX. It seems that, out of the blue, they decided to not work. The lights for the; Keyboard, mouse pad, power, Logo, button...

The only time wherever they work is when I go to the command center and choose a new color. Then close the command center, he will ask "Do you want to save this new theme" or something. If I choose Yes, FX lights will appear for just a second and then go back off. And they stay?

Now, I did some research and I did not see the problem, however, I tried unistalling the command center and put it back, and it didn't fix it. So I don't really know what it is. I ran something question detect the Dell page. But he said everything was fine. I also checked if it was one of my energy, and I have it on high performance. I went from balanced high performance, to test, but that solves nothing.

The only thing I could think of, but I'm not sure that it would have something to do with it, I went from my driver intel NVIDIA recently, but I doubt that it would have something to do with it.

    Help, please? Thank you.

    Edit:
If it is a question where can I get just to do a factory reset, I need a guide on how to back up and restore, simply because I don't want to lose any important work I have, etc.

First of all, is to make a backup.    There are ways to do it without having to buy the upgrade of Alienware ReSpawn.    Might look at things like:

Because I buy Seagate drives to make the back to the top on.  I use the free product provided by Seagate to get a clone of my hard drive.   We install the Seagate Wizard disk to a work computer, and it allows you to create a stand alone backup CD which will make clones and restore the operating system to the clone.

If you have not done so, it is also the time to create Windows restore DVD and CD repair of Windows, which is available through Alienware Respawn or Windows itself.

All having a back up is always a good idea.   I want to make more than a backup, if I'm going to fool around with the operating system that you are about to do.   I like to make sure that at least one of my backups is a Clone, I distrust so backups of call time interval, as they find unique and creative ways to fail.  Even if they are necessary when there are just trying to permanently keep a backup and not running out a huge amount of space external hard drive.

Search to find all the Activation/registration codes for all software products you have and put them together in a USB key and maybe on paper as well.  It's amazing how these things get lost when I was sure that I already have them in exactly one place.  I know that if you have Microsoft Office, if you did not buy Microsoft themselves, that Dell needs a very good reason for you give the activation code again.   (He came on a piece of paper in the box with the computer originally).   Similarly, make sure you have the Windows registration number.      Maybe need a registration code for you Antivirus and other things you buy, such as games.

Then I suggest that you save a copy of the registry, as it is right now.   And make a point of checking system.   I haven't looked, but I think that Alienware support has a few really good writeups on how to do these things that is far superior to what I might write.   Plus, get a list of the ways to start the Alienware to different modes before you crush the BONES.

After all, in my case, as I am still under warranty, I know that the best thing is to call Alienware technical support, let them Remote Desktop and see if they can fix it while you watch.

If Alienware Tech support can't help, or you have no guarantee.  Then, it is possible to restore the operating system without rewriting of your personal data.  PHEW.  Most likely, the computer has made a point of system check when it installed a new video driver.   It is also possible to reinstall all the operating system at reception on the first day of computer and do not damage your personal data, i.e. without formatting the entire drive.    However, all third-party programs will not be there when the computer returns to the top.  If you need to reinstall these third-party programs and save/activate them.

I think the guys at tech Alienware will come along and give you links for how to do to save a copy of the registry, how to start reinstalling the operating system and all their support stuff.

What they can not mentioned, if you try to start the computer and press F to start one of the special programs associated with tinker BONES.  We often have to hold down the control key first, then press the power button.   You bought a fast computer, and it is faster than your ability to press the Power button and get to the function key in time.

    Best wishes.

I should say one more thing, if you reinstall the operating system, you start the computer, and if the computer can find a way to connect, it is likely to interrupt from the desktop computer and the screen go black and remain black during the download of the OS and install things, like all Windows updates.  I think it's all night.  Gets the confusion he uses any encrypted WiFi connection that you previously had.  (Yes, funny, just reinstalled the operating system, she kept the password to an encrypted connection.)   and also because the computer screen can go into rest mode, so you could get to the top and the screen being black, while it is in fact not download, but you wait to tell him to turn it back on.   Do not let throw you the black screen, it's a normal part of Windows re-installation of updates.   Be better if it had a splash screen telling you what was going on.  I hope that ten Windows is better.   Sigh.   Could give you some comfort if you disable WiFi before you find the BONES, also unplug the cable.   then you should come first in the initial window more directly, but you will have to attend updates anyway. and black screen, to the

  • (Redirected) Power Alienware Aurora R4 problem

My Alienware Aurora R4 light not after a black out home. I took it will be checked and technology, said that the power supply does not work. I decided to look for a power supply, but as I'm in Toronto, the Canada, it is difficult to find dell parts unless you buy online.

I managed to find a PSU in my town that seems identical to that on my system, but I don't know if it will work on my system.

Original Power Supply Model # H875EF-00 (that's the one that was inside the alienware aurora r4)

    I found - power supply model # H875E-00

Two of these blocks of output 875W power but there is a difference on the sticker by reading the tensions here is the difference between the two models:

    Model # H875EF-00

    INPUT AC (50-60 Hz): 100-240V ~ / 12.5 A

    + 5V AND + 3.3V SHOULD NOT EXCEED 225W

    ---

    H875E-00 model says no.

    INPUT AC (50-60 Hz): 100-240V ~ / 14A

    + 5V AND + 3.3V SHOULD NOT EXCEED 150 W

I would like to know if it is possible to replace the power supply with the model #H875E-00 in my Alienware Aurora R4. This power supply would cause computer damage or make one of the components do not work properly.

    Thanks for help you.

  • Alienware 17 R3 - updated software wiped out ports of the USP, screen tactile, audio, lights etc - not Windows 10 update

    Can anyone help?

I have just completed an update, and I thank the powers that my laptop keyboard and touch pad were not killed.  It wasn't the update of Windows 10, my system thinks that it is still on the 8.1

I ran the Dell driver update and it goes on to say that he wants to update my "chipset" and when I click on 'install', it downloads and installs, but nothing changes after that I reload.  I re - run the update driver and he said he wants to update the "chipset" again.

Nothing on the USB ports work, the touch screen does not work, the lights do not work, the audio does not work.

I can't start a Alienware applications to search for updates.

I feel the irony that it happened just as my warranty ended.

I updated the firmware of the BIOS, chipset and another driver using the Dell diagnostics.  Nothing seems to change.

I tried several suggestions and he is the one that worked:

    1. open the Device Manager and go to the USB section

    2. click on each device in the USB section and uninstall

    3. when they are all gone, right click on any device and select 'Search hardware updates'

He turned immediately on all my ports

  • Alienware Alpha flashing yellow lights when it is off. How to fix?

Hello, I had problems with my Alpha recently. This problem started occurring in my 3rd week of me having my alpha (which is too bad.). When I went to turn it off or reboot the system, it would not seem to come back. I tried to use the method of draining power and eventually fix it temporarily, but the problem would be more severe and would be more difficult to turn back. Mine was flashing in a sequence of five lights flashing yellow when he tried to be turned on again. Do I have to send it back or Alienware has a solution for this?

Sorry for the delay with my post was out and about. However, I found a surprising solution to the situation. I'm the type to brag and see how I like to compare the specifications with my "Geek" friends I like to take my alpha in their home and play a game with them. I didn't really invest in one of those alpha bags because I thought that a bag of books can do the same thing. It turns out I was wrong. My father who is tech savvy thought that we should try to take a look at the alpha ourselves. So we checked the warranty sticker for zero and he wasn't there and we proceeded to disassemble. We took out the hard drive then we went we removed the chassis. We have then the guts and everything that we've done is we wanted to make sure that everything was intact (we didn't send back see how it would be tedious and an inconvenience.). WE DID THAT PLACE ALL IN. REAR AND REMOVE THE STICKS MEMORY I went to plug it back and works perfectly well. Now, I'm typing this from two reboots of the alpha, and it seems to go a lot. I guess we'll have to see what brings the future... in any case, I'll keep the guys/girls updated you and tell you if it's worse here.

  • Alienware X 51 R3 AlienFX will go "Light".

I recently bought an Alienware X 51 desktop computer. So far, the computer works fine, except when I put the AlienFx lighting on mode 'go Dark. ' Since then, I could not re - turn on the lights, no matter how many times I click on the "fire go" button. I ran the AlienFX Tester several times and whenever I do, the lights come back and stay until I have shut down my computer, but they stop again as soon as I turn it back on. Does anyone have an idea what is happening? Thank you.

Edit: I can't understand how to remove, but I think I did something to fix the problem for now.

  • Alienware Alpha lighting area questions

    Hi all

Start a week or two ago I had a problem with lighting effects on my Alienware Alpha. When I first put it on the end of function bit turns in a few seconds they turn off. The only way have to stay on is to start on the office and go in the software AlienFX and change the color and click on apply / save. Everyone knows this? I tried to reinstall the command center by using the download page of the Alpha pilot, but has nothing good.

    Thank you

For those who have a similar problem, I have this problem. I found a post on the forums Alienware arena, indicating that there is a problem with the PC things standby in console mode. Basically everything what I had to do was to start in console mode, select 'Sleep' in the power options, wait a few seconds and to wake up the PC. My lights work fine now.

  • New Alienware 14 lights problem

I had my Alienware 14 for two days, but for some reason any external lighting I stop responding and are stuck on the same color. Some of the lights aren't on. I tried to change the Forex and it does nothing. If you can help I would like that. Thank you.

    Hi Teschke,

Ask you to try following the underside of measures that could help:

    (1) uninstall/reinstall command center. You can refer the links that might help to uninstall below:

    http://Dell.to/1aw3dvr

    http://Dell.to/1aVUFlp

    (2) once this is done, you can use the link below and reinstall the new command centre:

    http://Dell.to/17p0F0r

Select the version of operating system and find the command center in the application tab and download

    (3) now, restart the computer and check if the problem is resolved. If not you are trying to create a new theme in AlienFX (open Command Center-> enter AlienFX-> closing of the current theme-> create a new theme).

If you have any other questions answer the same thread.
