  Hmm, if any snippet allows you to take a look at these Printer preferences one last time before going to uninstall/reinstall. In the printer preferences, click the Advanced button. In the window that opens check the grayscale option. Set it to off, if you can't check a little further down remember resolution is not defined in black and white only.

  Today, I installed three provided HP ink cartridges (black, Magenta and Cyan) and all are recognized as present and full.

  Whenever I try to print - Similarly, the automatic test report - there are NO black, Magenta or Cyan Ink on the page. I've tried the option 'Align printer' and "cleaning print heads" - they had no effect.

  My son starts the new school year Monday and desperately wants to print some photos for its project work.

  I finally fixed it by cleaning and aligning the heads permanently a few times more, then sprang to life and worked fine since.

• HP 2605 - other colors print fine, but black is wacky

  Just disassembled my 2605 and cleaned the mirrors in an attempt to clean up some problems of discoloration. I put back it as well as a new black toner. All the colors print wonderfully a sheet of color. Black only prints about a third of the page and isn't really.  Tried to copy and paste an image of the output.  It comes through hope.  Any ideas?

• HP Photosmart 7520E-all-in-one: black prints fine for text but the black areas in photos come out green

  Black ink works very well for text and text with little color, but when you print photos (on HP Advanced paper which is recommended), printed black areas aqua green, or deep.  Other colors are fine.  How can I fix it?

  Win7, series B & W printer, IE11, Gmail and AOL 5200N, Vista Driver (I think).

  I tried 10 or more different solutions suggested to obtaining by series 5200N convert all colors / non-black (gray, cyan re.g.) in pure black and white for printing readable (too many diagrams). None of them work or have settings that I have not yet. TIS includes checking the box "black a white only" in the menu printing.

  Often I am forced to print to a color printer, a whole, but that is expensive, slow and useless for large documents. I'm reluctant to get rid of the series 5200N as it is a workhorse ready without problem and most of my work can shoot with B & W output as long as it is readable.

  Can anyone help? (No fonts, no color settings change please for prints of the internet (cannot be) or are usually cut/paste/Word/print solutions, one screw up in shape or lose the photos.) Thanks in advance.

  Thanks for getting back to me!

  I would recommend starting with a power reset.  Unplug the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug back in the printer. Make sure that you connect the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any surge protector or power bar.

  I recommend also to download and run the HP print and Scan doctor.

• The colors to black tour when you export to PDF

  When exporting artowrk Illustrator to PDF it sometimes shows all colors like black in Mac preview. I am concerned about the fact that then send it to a printer they consider black and print in black as well. I am currently using the latest Mac OS 10.7.4 and Adobe CS6. Our work is all in PMS colors when this problem occurs.

  Initially, the installation of the printer REFUSED to align, took 7 attempts (OK, I've heard of Einstein quote!). Whenever I used the printer to ALIGNER PRINTER screen - the process has failed. So I looked on the web, and:

  Clean the cartridges,

  Erased the vents

  Removed and cleaned the print head

  Prayed

  Tried again

  To nothing not done, so I tried to make the diagnosis via PC software and here deepened the mystery.

  When the HP Photosmart B210 series Toolbox running I got three different results between the three print options

  A Diagnostics Page of print quality gave me five Ba's maximum color printing

  Align the print heads gave me the black and blue boxes/lies/grids and the message alignment successful

  The print Diagnostic information gave me all four colors with a lot of useful info, including the print head 73 calibration trust level: 0

  Ideas anyone, before I bin it and buy a Kodak or disgusted Epson

  What exactly is the problem?  Alignment aligns the print head color to the black print head, and black and one color (cyan for your printer) are required for this.  (There is probably an extra set of blocks that prints gray blocks fade to white.  This section is used to calibrate the energy for the colors).  The other test pages that you printed will be print various diagnoses or test pages that will use all colors.

  A successful alignment page requires the page be printed on white paper not used and requires that the cyan and black sections print correctly.
