All-in-one Officejet 5610: function Scan lost after upgrade to Yosemite

Lost the ability to analyze after upgrade, print, and copy works. Have already done everything suggested by Double-U-di in the Mac OS 10.10 post Yosemite and HP Printer Support posted on 30/10/2014: checking for updates Apple, printer removed from the queue, add printer back, reset the printing system, removed the HP software, repair disk permissions * manually installed HP printer drivers v3.0 and added to the queue printer. No change, printing & copying ok, but the scanner does not.

During approval of the repair disk found a number of problems related to printing and presumably repaired, had more to do with the ' should be 80, group is zero ", but others as well.

Anyone know what I can do, short of buying a new printer? I realize, it's a dinosaur - always attached via the USB port, but she worked just beautifully before the upgrade.

Hello @DrBucky,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I understand that you are not able to scan from your HP Officejet 5610 all-in-One Printer to your computer Mac OS X 10.10. I would like to help you to solve this problem today. Thank you for all the troubleshooting steps you tried before reaching out for support. You have completed almost all of the recommended steps. However, the order in which the steps have been completed can cause some problems. Therefore, I will be having repeat you some of these measures to ensure that the appropriate driver is being used.

Step 1: Reset the printing system and uninstalling the driver:

It is crucial for the repairs we have a clean slate to work with. Therefore, I'll take you reset the printing system and Uninstall the drivers for your HP Officejet. Please click here for instructions on how to perform the reset and uninstall. Once the site opens, select the drop-down list for 'Mac OS X v10.6, OS X v10.7, OS X v10.8 and OS X v10.9'. Then, please follow the steps in the method 1 and method 2.

Once steps have been taken, please proceed to the next step.

Step 2: Check and repair your Mac disk permissions:

It is very important to perform the audit before the repair. By running the check first, questions are found. Once all questions are found the repair process will correct these problems. By repairing just without checking first, questions may be missed.

  1. Open Macintosh HD and go to Applications
  2. Go to the Utilities folder
  3. Open disk utility
  4. Select the hard disk volume, you use (usually on the left)
  5. Select verify disk permissions
  6. Once this process is complete, select repair disk permissions

Step 3: Manually install the driver Package:

Please click here to manually download the package from Apple to HP v3.0 printer driversupdate. Once the site opens click on the download button at the top. Follow the instructions on the screen to install the driver package.

Step 4: Check the Apple updates:

  1. Go to the Apple
  2. Select System Preferences
  3. Select software update
  4. Click update now
  5. Install your available updates
  6. Computer restart

Step 5: Add the device:

1. click on the menu of Apple , then Preferences System.

2. click on Print & Scan and then check if the name of your printer appears in the printer list.

3. click on the name of your printer, click the sign minus (), then remove the printer.

4. click on the plus sign (), click Add a printer or a Scanner, click the name of your printer.

5. click on the area of use or with the help of Print and then select the name of your printer on the shortcut menu. Ensure that the Officejet driver is selected.

6. click Add to add the printer to the list.

-Source

Once your printer is properly added to, please try to scan the image. For instructions on the three supported methods of scanning without HP software please click here. The support document indicates that it is for Mac OS X 10.8 but the steps are the same for Mac OS X 10.10.

Please let me know if a retry of the procedure described in this new order solves your problem of scan. Good luck!

  • All-in-one Officejet 5610: lost all ability to scan after operating system upgrade

    Hello

    First post.

Tried to implement everything. Need for new perspective or someone just told me that the printer/scanner is not taken in charge any longer.

Recently updated to OS 10.8.5 as well as extra memory.

Have scanner only for the work of the company.

The scanner just stopped working after update of HP software. I don't remember version. Nevertheless, today I removed all HD and started around, but nothing works.

Start over means, I downloaded a new driver and the patch.

Using a HP scanning Application. Now that the application does not appear even on the computer.

Let's start with some basic questions and then go from there:

Neither HP or HP scanning Application utility are now on the hard disk after you follow the instructions from HP to delete.

What I need the original disks and to reinstall the software from it or can those be online?

    Thank you.

    Mike

    Follow-up.

Tried this approach (see link), but the all-in-one Officejet 5610 is not listed. I suspect the printer/scanner in is no longer supported?

    THX!

    Second follow-up:

I understand how to use of Apple's Image Capture application as a workaround. Not as friendly as HP Scan.

Unless someone can tell me the HP and HP Scan utility always work in OS 10.8.5 for the 5100, I guess that will be sufficient.

    Thank you.

  • All-in-One copy vs functions Scan

What is the technical difference between the black copy function and the function of scan (Document to the printer setting) in HP-each when you print a black and white document?  Sometimes I have a HP Photosmart C6280 but imagine a similar software is used in most HP AIOs.  I use Windows XP SP3.

I noticed that get copies of the printed large document when you use the black copy.  We see no difference between the original and printed copy.  But when I take the same document and use the scan function, the default setting of "Document to the printer" in the HP Solution Center / HP scanning software, white background of the document comes out of gray in the scanned image and the printed document.  Tweak the parameters of scanning doesn't seem to help.  The default color is 'levels of gray.  Change the color to "black and white" setting worse image, even after the threshold adjustment.  This is also true when scanning to a file.

Curiously, Scanner of Windows XP and the Assistant camera produces images of a document scanned (no gray background) when you use the parameter "black and white picture or text.

It seems that two different sets of software are used by HP for scanning and copying, even if the two functions use the same scanner. Would be nice if HP Scanning can be configured to produce the same document, black and white, scanning of the results produced by the black and the scanner and Camera Wizard copy function.  Did I miss something on the purpose or the configuration of the scan function? Did you have a good black and white, scanning of the success with the HP Solution Center / HP Scanning?

    Thanks for ideas or experiences!

I solved my problem with the help of HP technical support.  HP has a document entitled "Improvement of Scan quality," located at http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/buu00673

It is found by typing "Improvement of the quality Scan" in the search box on the HP support & drivers page.  The document is the first result in the list.

The second task of the document suggests recalibrate the all-in-one.  It was easy to make and done to correct my problem to get gray backgrounds on text scanned documents using the color to grayscale setting. The backgrounds are now in white, as it should.

The lesson I have remove this: always turn the all-in-one front to put the document to scan on the glass.

When you unplug the all-in-one to the power outlet and then plug it in again, the scanner to recalibrate automatically itself when it is turned on again with the power button.  If there is a document on the glass during calibration, recalibration may not work correctly, but you will not know.  All you know is that the scans you then will have quality problems!

  • OfficeJet Pro 8500 a909g: lost after upgrade windows 10 Scan function

I saw many older posts on this topic (device connected to another program or device) and have waited and waited to see if finally HP allocate updates to allow the HP Solution Center work again for analysis, rather than having to use the very limited windows scan app.   It seems that all the solutions proposed to uninstall and then reinstall all gave a lot of aggravation and never fixed the problems.  I still have the problem and all drivers are updated... was better resolution ever deployed by HP or should I just keep using the pathetic Windows App that does not offer half of the facilities we had using the solution center to analyze?

    Hello

Thanks for the reply.  I already have the latest version of the complete software and drivers are completely up to date.

Error Center solution that message continues to say impossible to analyze because another program or device uses the networked HP imaging device.

Having said that I have download the analysis option you suggested and it is a job much better around the other Scan MS application I've had.  At least I can crop document and add pages to scan by the looks of things flat.

Thanks for your help.  Although I still really wish that HP could just fix the solution Center works again for scanning.

    See you soon

  • How to clean a HP all-in-one Officejet 5610 print head?

I use a HP no. 27 and a HP #22, each one about half full of ink.

Head cleaning, for normal users, is possible directly in the drivers Windows 7 or any tools provided printer software that is compatible Windows 7.

  • All-in-one Officejet 5610: computer said paper jam, printer does not respond

We had a paper jam, which we is allowed. The printer says there is no jammed paper and printed successfully a self-test.  The table of edge devices and printers said that there is a jam paper and attempts to print just to sit in the queue.  Clicked on the HP Solution Center and it says printer is ready. The printer is okay.  Only the OS seems to have a different opinion.

Not tried them: (1) open the back door and look for debris. (2) open the Feeder and locate debris.  (3) open front (involves opening door cartridge, unplug the printer and remove the trays) and search for debris.  (4) self test printing.  (5) restart the system.  (6) unplug the printer while and leave unplugged for 60 seconds to force the delivery.  (7) repeat steps 1-4.  No SOAP.

Have you tried what is obvious.  Turn on the computer and the printer off both.  Now, unplug the printer from the computer.  Turn on the computer and then turn the printer back on.  Now reconnect the printer to the computer.  This assumes that the printer is connected to the computer via usb.  Alternatively, you can try to plug the usb cable into a different port.

  • Cannot sweep the all-in-one Officejet 4630

Hi all - help needed please.

Recently bought a printer all-in-one Officejet 4630 and had nothing but trouble, set-up and use it. After several attempts to put in place, everything is roughly in order, though I can't yet scan of the control on the machine Panel (I can scan only through "system preferences" under the apple icon).  Whenever I try to scan the engine control panel (and not through system preferences), using either the wireless network (Airscan or whatever it's called) or the USB cable, I have the following message on my laptop screen:

    Task is not available

The task of "Photo (JPEG)" found on your device is not available on your system. Please select another task.

The same thing happens if I try to scan to PDF. I use an old (c.2007 MacBook Pro) that runs the OSX10.9.5 Mavericks. Internet connectivity is not a problem because we have the right cable broadband. All I want to do is scan directly from the printer to my computer, preferably using a wireless connection. Help, please.

    Thank you

    Hi @nckbtlr and Happy Halloween!

I'm sorry to hear about the problems you are having with your Officejet 4630. I understand that you are unable to scan from the front of the printer. I'd be happy to help you with this.

In the spirit of Halloween, first I have to ask: what did the Mummy to tell the Agent from HP Support?    Let's wrap this case up!

I suggest to uninstall and reinstall the software. Please follow the instructions below to complete a more comprehensive uninstall than basic uninstall. I know that these steps look long and convoluted, but I made it easy to follow and have confidence that these steps will solve the problem.

    Scrub / uninstall

    • Open the Applications folder > HP or Hewlett-Packard folder > Uninstall HP
    • Click continue, click on one of the printers in the list.
    • * Only perform this step if you have not all other HP printers.  Press and hold the Option, control and command, while now the three buttons.
    • Click Uninstall.

    Reset the printing system

    1. Click on the Apple icon ( ), then click on System Preferences.

  • All-in-one Officejet J6480: printer Officejet J6480 on Windows 10

I've owned a printer all-in-one Officejet J6480 for a few years.  I bought a new Lenovo computer several months that came with a free to Windows Update when 10 is which would be published.  I managed to load the J6480 software and everything worked very well, including the scanner.  When Windows 10 came out I upgraded to it and rebooted the printer software and everything worked fine.

Then about two weeks ago, all the J6480 would do is printed.  When I tried to open the HP Solution Center to scan a document all I had was a 'ping' and the Center does not open.   So I tried to remove all the HP software and re - load.  It would be the load but not completely.  I kept getting the message that "the application you are trying to use has been blocked to open because it could damage your PC or the loss of data. This is because some applications that worked with a previous version of Windows may not work the same way with Windows 10 ".  I do not understand why it worked fine for a few months with 10 windows and now it's incompatible, unless there was an automatic upgrade (Windows 10 or HP) that is now causing the conflict.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the software several times but to no avail.  Can anyone suggest a solution?
