An incident/XP Recovery

I am trying to retrieve files from a crashed hard drive and my attempts have been unsucessfull so far.  IT has worked until one day I tried to start and was greeted by a message simply stating there is a problem with my hard drive.  My first assumption was, 'maybe just repair windows will work' when I try, it says that the current partition is not compatible with windows. so my next guess was, take a second hard drive, reformat and install windows and reconnect the other hard drive as a slave, or a secondary hard drive. Maybe I could navigate on it and explore it to find my data.  When I navigate to it, it's fine poster icon. right next to my C: drive (current), there is another (forgot the letter, E I think.) but clicking on it, it says "this disc is not formatted, you want to reformatt it now?" obviously, since I'm trying to RECOVER the data, not to erase the disc, I click on no.  Can what methods I use to recover data lost, or better still, to restore the hard drive to the way it was without having to find and retrieve data inside?

Perhaps this should be obvious, but when you run the disk hard origonal as main, before passing, security modes do not work, nor did the previous known working configuration. (not sure of the exact wording)

in fact, I think I can find the answer. I found a software removal program that just might do the trick.  Although he has not said exactly what I was looking for in his description (no surprise, it is probably difficult cover all of its capabilities in a brief description) I was looking through the evidence and ran across someone who says, and I quote: "thank you for an excellent product and a reasonable price. Recovered 100% of the data corrupted, unreadable disk-"drive E: is not formatted. Would you like to format it now? "Words... which is pretty much exactly what I described earlier.  so I downloaded and tested on my USB key.  has found files I completely forgot (removed with reformatting). Although I have no need of them, I chose to get back them to test if it actually worked. He did, now the real thing I guess.

Thanks for the suggestions so.

  • Pavilion p6654y: ordered recovery disks have not shipped, HP incident status page says touch HP

So, I ordered a new set of recovery disks for my (out of warranty) Pavilion p6654y, I received a confirmation email and a CSO number. For about 2 weeks I got the confirmation of order, but records have not delivered. Also, I checked with my Bank and the money for the purchase has not yet released. I checked HP incident status page to see what was going on and he told me "contact HP". They don't have sent other emails not to mention that the order confirmation, so I'm stuck sort of just ask yourself what's the deal.

My problem is that I could not find any contact information for this kind of problem, does anyone know how I would go on to contact HP for a problem with an order for recovery disk?

  • (Admin) is not in the sudoers file.  This incident will be reported.

So I got a Mac on OS X El Capitan and I can't use sudo from the admin; Yes the main admin, I repeat, ADMIN account. Whenever I use a sudo command, the error message appears.

«(Name of the Admin) is not in the sudoers file.»  This incident will be reported. »

How can I fix? This is not ordinary.

First of all, it is not a "main ADMIN' - it is not Windows. Any user can be configured to administer the Mac. Nothing is special about one.

As for the sudoers file, if you do not have an account that can access (including your admin, again, the ADMIN can not), you cannot change it.

There are several ways to create a new admin account. And here's one: http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/164331/i-don ' t-have-administrator-account t-on-my-mac

When you say, «so I got a Mac...» "Do you mean that you're someone else, used a Mac?

If Yes, then you should just start Internet recovery, wipe the drive completely and reinstall OS X. That will fix the problem for you and all the others left by the previous owner.

  • replace the recovery with my own file

OK, I own a HP Pavilion dv6 laptop and after installing all my programs after just after crossing a recovery incident... I was wondering what type of file this file recovery is... and if I could replace it with my own... so that the method of quick recovery F11 would continue working... it would be a great time saver!

Moreover, would the recovery dvd that came with this work laptop on my Pavilion from HP desktop that I have bought at the same time as the laptop...

    Hello

System recovery files is specific to HP, then you will not be able to replace it with your own files. And you will not be able to use the recovery disk to one system over another, since his own in this particular model. So if you need to reinstall the operating system on your desktop, then you can use the recovery partation which will be available in all systems, if it is not deleted. If its deleted, then you must purchase the HP recovery disk.

  • Windows XP SP3, corrupted registry. Corrupt / missing windows system32\config\system - restore via Recovery Console cannot copy files of origin of the system32 folder. Please help.

When my husband's computer was incorrectly stop we met the ' Windows XP didn't start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM "error message. I understand that the registry is written on the judgment and that it is not rare that the registry damaged during the power failure or abnormal stop. Checking the bandages for details on how to proceed, and begin the process of recovery appearing in theArticle ID: 307545 of http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307545/en-us below:

«First part in the first part, you start the Recovery Console, create a temporary folder, back up the existing registry files to a new location, delete the registry from their existing location files and then copy the registry files in the repair folder to the folder System32\Config.» When you have completed this procedure, a registry is created that you can use to start Windows XP. This registry was created and saved during the initial setup of Windows XP. Therefore, any changes and settings that took place after Setup has finished are lost.

The full, first part, follow these steps:

    1. Insert the diskette of starting Windows XP in the floppy drive, or insert the Windows XP CD into the CD-ROM drive and restart the computer.
Click to select all of the options required to start the computer from the CD-ROM drive if you are prompted to do so.
    2. When the "Welcome" screen appears, press R to start the Recovery Console.
    3. If you have a dual-boot or multiboot, select the installation that you want to access from the Recovery Console.
    4. When you are prompted to do so, type the administrator password. If the administrator password is blank, just press ENTER.
    5. At the Recovery Console prompt, type the following lines, pressing ENTER after you type each line:
      MD tmp
      copy c:\windows\system32\config\system c:\windows\tmp\system.bak
      copy c:\windows\system32\config\software c:\windows\tmp\software.bak
      Copy c:\windows\system32\config\sam c:\windows\tmp\sam.bak
      copy c:\windows\system32\config\security c:\windows\tmp\security.bak
      Copy c:\windows\system32\config\default c:\windows\tmp\default.bak.

There was no administrator password prompt, but the console began without incident. I was unable to copy these files to a folder. (Yes, I checked my spelling and made certain that the commands, parameters and syntax are accurate.) I created another directory and tested the console by copying the files to repair to the secondary directory. These copied without any errors. I was able to discern that there are no problems with the console itself.  At this point, I'm not sure how to proceed.  There is data that has not yet been backed up and must be recovered where it is suggested to do a new/factory install. Therefore, I need to know if there is another way to proceed to the recovery or if I do a fresh install. In addition, any suggestions on its disk data recovery, if the new installation is the only way to move forward, also would be appreciated. Thank you.

Just to be clear, when you have tried, for example, to run this command:

    copy c:\windows\system32\config\system c:\windows\tmp\system.bak

You have an error message (please report it to full) or maybe nothing happened.

But you did another directory (say 'c:\windows\otherdir') managed by running the following command:

    Copy c:\windows\repair\system c:\windows\otherdir\system

If this is the situation in which you are in, you are essentially impossible to create a backup copy of the current registry damaged.  This is not the end of the world, because as you can see by reading the full article, you never use these files master anyway.  This step is just included "on the side of caution" so that you can restore the original registry files, corrupted, if for some reason you wanted to.

Because you cannot start the system anyway, you might as well begin the process described in the article without creating these master files.

You can either make the step remove first:

    delete c:\windows\system32\config\system

or just try to copy the files in the directory of repair on the files in the \system32\config directory and answer 'Yes' when asked if you want to replace the existing file.

Note that the success of this procedure assumes that you run the system restore.  Otherwise, you'll find yourself with the registry as there was when Windows installation - which certainly won't be compatible with the State of your machine today.

Essentially, what you are doing are the following:

    1. While in the Recovery Console, restore the registry to its state when you first installed Windows.  This allows you to start Windows - but do not try to use any application program.

    2. in Windows, copy of the registry that is saved in a recent restore Point to a location that are accessible by the Recovery Console - but not by using the restore application from the system itself, because with the 'original' registry, System Restore is not aware of these restore points.

    3. While in the Recovery Console, restore the registry using the files you made available at step 2.

I don't really know what's the point of the stage of section 4, unless it is to use system restore to restore to a different restore point.

If you can't make things work by following the steps above, or if there is no recent restore points to use in step 2, then you are correct: you must backup your data, do a clean reinstall of Windows, then reinstall your applications with original media and restore your data from backup.

If you are able to do step 1 and start Windows with its original register, you should be able to use the native Windows tools to backup your data.  I would not use NTBackup, but rather just copy (do not use the 'move' command) data on an external hard drive.  Alternately, you could boot from a live CD of Linux (for example, Knoppix) to access your drive and copy the data.  Or if you have a bootable CD from a like Acronis Disk Imaging application, you can use it.  If you would like more information in this sense, after return.

  • Vista system recovery

I had to do a complete system on my desktop HP Pavilion restore last week.  The recovery took place without incident, but since I'm not able to access internet completely.  I have another desktop, laptop & tablet, and none of them have a problem accessing the internet; also I don't get any errors or anything on the network.

After some research, I read that Norton (preinstalled) maybe he brandishing the PC to access the internet, so I ran the Norton Removal tool.  After the tool runs the tent software access to the internet (I think to finish the job) but the computer just hangs there - sometimes I get a message that the Web page are not available.  I also disabled Windows defender I've read that may cause the computer not to completely not connect to internet.

I spent an hour or so on the phone a few days ago with my ISP and they had me look at all different things but nothing has changed and I was able to get on the internet and windows update to download, but after several reboots due update, I was not able to access the internet again.

Without access to the internet, I can't update Windows or Norton (once I install an updated version).

    Any suggestions?

You connect the PC to the modem with a CAT5 cable between the same router as the other PC?
With the CAT5 cable is connected you will see a list headed on connecting the NIC to the rear of the PC?

  • Help virus recovery

Alright. So about two days ago, I followed a link on a website looking for information on a topic, I was doing research for school. After that I followed the link I had messages to appear on my computer saying: I've been infected by a Trojan Virus and I turned off my computer. I turned this back in safe mode and restore my computer to a set of files 3 days before the incident. Once I restarted my computer and the recovery, I found the virus had disappeared, I downloaded anti malware software and made several different analyses with several products to ensure that the virus had disappeared, all mounted with no problems. However, I found some files corrupted, some things need to re-setup and it seems even that my computer can get a bit slower... My question is, recovery to a date earlier than actually rid my computer of viruses? If this is not the case, how I uninstall completely? And should I do / did something different? Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • DV7-7240US: HP Recovery - cannot reset to the original factory HP setting

Recently, my original Windows 8 has been updated to a new version of Windows 8.1. It was an automatic update of my laptop, I didn't. The next day, I discovered that the system was very slow and freezes in some places. I can not even restart or shut down the computer. It forced me to press and hold the power button to stop and restart the machine. It took some time for my machine load and start the window; Sometimes, it took about 30-40 minutes. This incident has happened very frequently, I have to turn the machine on too often. Now, I got the message when he was loading: diagnostic Systems, error disc, press the auto repair. "Then he started scanning it says on the screen: ' disk scanning error. This process may take longer than an hour. "He was allowed to return to 8.1 Windows for the first time. Then, the windows was frozen again. I forced to turn off and turn on the machine too many times, this machine was hooked during the scan disk error. He showed the scanning process 0% throughout the night I left the machine. I can't load the window again. Therefore, I have to go to the F11-system setting, keyboard language was loaded on the screen. Then I chose us. The next screen, I clicked on troubleshooting, HP Recovery, restore the system. It did not work. Then, I selected Reset to the original factory setting. He asked to make a backup of the file. I chose the automatic backup of the file, and then move forward. The backup process has crossed at 63%, then the pop-up error: error ffffffff15, data code = 6. I tried to go back and backup file again, it gave me the same error. Then, I tried to reset the system to the initial factory setting without saving the file. I clicked on the warning message about all of the hard drive will remove if I proceed. Then I got an error and can not proceed with other measures. I then tried to reset the systems with USB I created HP Recovery Manager after buying the machine. "When I tried to restore the initial factory setting, it gave me an error message:" the target drive is not connected. "I don't know what to do now. I guess, I need HP Recovery DVD or HP's USB flash drive in order to restore the factory setting of windows 8. I don't have the recovery disk when I bought my HP laptop. I even created one with USB, copy of the record of HP recovery support, but it still doesn't work. Help, please! It's really frustrating.

  • Until THE recovery TIME RMAN fails on OPEN DATABASE RESETLOGS

    Hello

I met general media failure a week ago and decided to recover my database to a point in time about two weeks ago. The RMAN restore/recovery part seemed to work correctly according to the newspapers, but my database could not open on the part of ALTER DATABASE OPEN RESETLOGS.
    It's my RMAN script:
    RMAN > RUN {
    2 > SET until TIME = 27 July 09 ';
    3 > RESTORE database;
    4 > RECOVER DATABASE;
    5 > ALTER DATABASE OPEN RESETLOGS;
    {6 >}

To navigate in the alerts log, I think one my redo log group 2 is corrupt and the database fails to open when he met this group. 2 is my current group. I tried the command ALTER DATABASE CLEAR no ARCHIVED LOGFILE GROUP 2, but it fails with ORA-1624: file necessary for crash recovery.
Why this file is necessary for recovery on incident so I'm restore to a point in time two weeks in the past and does not seek to roll forward modifications online redo log?

I can't get my database regarding the EDITING phase; Therefore, I can't force a log switch. And group 2 being the current group, I can't let it go. I don't know how to proceed.

I tried the command + option + R and command-R start-up and restart, but no dice. I'm trying to reinstall Mac OS to give the laptop to a friend. Any tips?

    Hey Sndietzel,

Thank you for being a part of the communities of Apple Support.

I understand your message you are trying to boot a MacBook (2008) for OS X Internet Recovery but it is not successful.  This happens because this year and model of Mac does not support the OS X Internet Recovery:

Computers that can be upgraded to use OS X Internet Recovery

What version of Mac OS X is currently installed? In the menu bar select  > what the Mac and you should see the version of OS X installed.  If she has OS X 10.6.8 or more, then there is no OS X Recovery, and you will need the installation disk OS X, or the disc that came with the computer to erase the disk and reinstall OS X. You will need to insert the disc while the Mac is turned on, and then restart while holding the C key to boot the disk.

    Take care.

    Thank you!

Apple have this to do a USB installation...

Create an installer for OS X - Apple support bootable

Another option is to use the diskmakerx.com application

You must have the OS installer downloaded to make these methods of work is probably not practice on your failed drive.

Both of these options are to run a 'normal' operating system too. The recovery partition is not 'normal '.

Another option is to use the Internet recovery mode if your Mac supports...

Computers that can be upgraded to use OS X Internet Recovery - Apple Support

On macOS recovery - Apple Support

Use wired ethernet for best results, since it will download a bootable OS & then download the installer of the OS also.

I suspect you have the update of the firmware installed to add this feature if it has been updated over the last 3 years

You may be able to generate a score of alternative recovery to another disk (such as a USB key) If you want to just "compensation of base OS.

OS X: on Recovery Disk Wizard - Apple Support

A last solution would be to clone your drive failing on an external drive (or use the new SSD in a proper case). That can be done in the modes of recovery via disk utility. Basically, you use a feature to "restore" to clone one volume to another. (I don't see clear instructions for the moment so ask if you want to pursue this option).

  • Corrupted data recovery water Iphone 6

We know anyway to get data of an Iphone that does not turn on?

I am desperate to get my photos from my broken phone and a loan to pay for it, but I do not know if everyone can do?

The photos I want are not saved on icloud to bring from the phone itself are the only way.

However, it was damaged more than a month there are water and did not put in operation since

    Thank you

The bottom line is not. You can pay a ton of money for a service of data recovery, but it is useless with the encryption using the iOS and the iPhone with your data. All what they will recover is meaningless strings of gibberish, not files and with no way to decipher gibberish it's worthless.

Sorry, but that the data is finished now.

  • Request for recovery!

In windows 7, which was on my BOOTCAMP, I used the disk to shrink drive "C:\" management ", and then creating a score more. It caused the failure of startup of WINDOWS and MAC OS!

Unfortunately, even when I used Internet recovery and then disk utility, I could not access my information and the backup.

Disk utility shows scores East and the type of format 'windows_DLM '!

I am sure that when I used to reduce my BootCamp partition, I have nothing to do with the MAC Partition.

Is there any script to retrieve data about my scores?

and if the answer is Yes, what are the scenarios?

Please tell me how I can do to avoid losing my data?

I've read a few articles on program of TestDisk is a recovery software, but now I have no OS to!

and an article describing using "dd" command in a Terminal to create the image, but in fact I don't realize what I can do and that the solution to such a problem occurs.

Please use How to install OS X on an external drive connected to your Mac - Apple Support to install OS X (even if it's an older version available online recovery) and update, until it matches your drive internal OS X version and then boot from that disk. Your internal drive can be inspected and can be corrected once we look at the disk partitions.
