Yes, I was recreating the profile of the host from scratch and to ensure all fields have been filled correctly.  Now, everything is good, thx.

  • Auto Deploy, host profile and answer files

    Hello

I'm busy trying to learn a little more about Auto deploy. I'm trying to figure out what is the best practice when it comes to the part host profiles of the automatic process of deploy. The way I see there are two ways to use host profiles.

    (1) for each host, I create a separate host profile and create necessary deployment rules, one rule per host.

    (2) I create a host profile and only one rule of deployment and then use the response file option to create the unique settings of the host.

I've set up two option, option 2 seems less reliable while option 1 works every time. So my main question is what is the recommended method to use profiles to host with Auto deploy.

    Thank you

    Hello

It is usually done through your supplied option 2.

Create a profile from a host of reference and apply this profile to a host or a cluster.  Usually a cluster or however you define your deployment rules.  Update of the personalization of the host, then remove it from maintenance mode.

Documentation on the profiles of the host.

Here a documentation to Auto deploy

I am a big fan or Pluralsight and Nash did a great job in this series.

    Training, Pluralsight

Course: VMware vSphere Optimize & scale series

    Part 3: Monitoring & Automation

Section: Self help to deploy for the deployment of ESXi

So, that is the 'best practice' or ' recommended?  Good question.  Which is usually answered by - what is best for you!

I hope this helps a little.

  • Answer: File Explorer is invisible when opened

I've had my computer for about 3 weeks, and up to about 3-4 days there, when I try to open the files or when I click on my file Explorer icon on my taskbar, it is invisible. When I open the Task Manager, it does not show that it is running, but if I move my mouse in Explorer on my taskbar, I see the window that I opened, but it is not on my screen. This happened to my Skype Office a day later. I tried to look online and most of the things I found does not work or was not my problem.

E: I see the window that I opened, but it is not on my screen.

A: do a right-click on the thumbnail and select move

E: all he done was make my mouse a cross with arrows

A: this is where you had to start to use your cursor as if you knew where your window hiding.

Did you have to move your mouse to see your pointer arrow 4?

Apparently to actually make a move if you use a mouse button to drag.

E: the only thing is that I came to that was the fact that my windows Explorer is located on the far right of my screen.

Is that mean that you have noticed that your pointer seems to come out on the side right of the screen but banged against the side of the left?   Then to try the procedure instead of doing drag the pointer appears you would press the left button of the mouse and then try to move your mouse to the left (if you come from the right side, left movement).   This procedure was a new discovery.  To try the (classic) procedure of slider (the one I mentioned first), you must use the CursorLeft key (repeated, key chosen to represent the fact that the window is supposed to appear on the right.)

    Think.   What is this pointer?

Alternatively, if you've been paying attention, you can try the method of Win-shift-cursor too.   Still, it would be easier.   But the most reliable would be the cursor method because it does not assume that there is a ghost monitor and is not affected by the question of if you moved your mouse (if you have nothing to click on and drag)...

Wow.  Another discovery.  I moved the pointer without trying to drag (for example to simulate what I suppose that you did) and I saw the arrow pointer 4 just to move its own.   Then I pressed CursorRight, (given that my missing window was on the left) and apparently it hired drag on the window to the mouse!  Who would have thought?   Then I could just drag it using the mouse without having to resort to a press cursor repeat procedure.   Still not as easy as Win-shift-cursor if.

    FYI

  • Win XP easy configuration function: answer file

    Hello

where can I find the response of the "easy installation" file for Windows XP?

I would like to create a clean Installation Image and thew preconfigured VMware leader would certainly be a good starting point for this purpose (given that the correct drivers are identified, and it is not necessary to analyze the virtual hardware...)

    Thanks in advance.

    Best regards

    Sarge

Find the *.flp file - I guess that it will be deleted after use.

So start a new easy install but do not start the virtual machine again. Then go to the directory of the virtual machine - you should find this drive to floppy-image - it can be opened with Winimage or a virtual floppy drive

  • How to delete files from vCenter answers

I am train to pre-fill vCenter with IP home address details, so when a stateless host starts using Auto deploy it is actually "zero touch" and can get to work immediately.

I use the Daniel Hiltgen script which can be found here: Script for the static IP addresses to deploy Auto host (stateless ESXi). I'm identify hosts by mac address, and I modified the script (using his notes) to refer to a dvSwitch.

I created my CSV file, but whenever I tried to run the script, I get "host 192.168.146.111 already has a valid answer file, jump."  Now, I'm not really sure it's correct, but im test this in a lab environment and it is possible, I tried all combinations of IP address on my local network.

How can I make party PowerCLI to see what answer files are defined and if necessary remove them?

I tried to use Get-view "HostProfileManager' but I'm not very far.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    -Mark

You can see if a host named ESX1 has an answer file with:

    $hostProfileManagerView = Get-view - Id HostProfileManager

    $targetHost = Get-VMHost - name ESX1

    $answerFile = $hostProfileManagerView.RetrieveAnswerFile ($targetHost.ExtensionData.MoRef)

There is no way to delete an answer file. Howerver you can update an existing answer file. If you delete the control on an existing answer file in the script of Daniel Hiltgen then the answer file will be updated if it already exists. To do this, you will need to remove the following lines in the script of Daniel:

    157 if (-not $answerFile) {}

    182} else {}

183 write 'Host $targetHost already has a valid answer file, jump.'

    184}.
