The problem seems to be the C:\windows\system32\cmdlineext.dll:

Failed to load image C:\Windows\System32\C:\windows\system32\cmdlineext.dll, 0n2 error Win32

Probably caused by: shell32.dll (shell32! CDefView::_DoContextMenuPopup + 0)

C:\windows\system32\cmdlineext.dll is 'Context to explore menu SecuROM' component of the SecuROM software which is installed with various games.

Here's a previous thread where the same .dll file was involved:

http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/windows_vista-desktop/Windows-Explorer-crashes-on-right-click/719385e6-FFF5-498d-807C-103bf0344f44

To stop the accidents you could try, as in this thread, disable the context menu of SecuROM for Explorer using ShellExView.

The following link has some information about contextual menus bad managers and a link to download ShellExView:

http://WindowsXP.MVPs.org/slowrightclick.htm

There might be other ways to solve the problem, for example when trying to get a fix of SecuROM:

https://support.SecuROM.com/

They may be able to provide you with an update C:\windows\system32\cmdlineext.dll (currently installed is dated June 11, 2008) or give instructions how to remove SecuROM software.

It may be useful to try to capture a dump of user of the explorer.exe crash mode.

You can configure Windows to create dumps of user mode. First, create a System Restore Point.

If you copy and paste the following text in Notepad and save it as a .reg file, then right click on the .reg file and select "Merge" to add to the registry, when the .dmp file explorer.exe plant should be created in the C:\CrashDumps folder:

    Hi Pradeep,

    Thanks for the reply.

I suggest you to check the boot problem. To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

How to perform a clean boot for a problem in Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: Please refer to the section: How to reset the computer to start as usual after a clean boot troubleshooting section of Kb to start the computer to a normal startup after you fix the problem.

Let us know the status of the issue.

  • Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate - Explorer.exe freeze (AppCrash) constantly

-Very well, Windows 64 bit Ultimate Edition here, clean install.

I had this issue as well now (AppCrash Explorer.exe), BTW what does Microsoft on this one? You have a lot of reports about this in this thread, and if you do a search on Google also, so it is a GLOBAL problem. No showstopper bug, but doing the reputation of 'stable' of Windows 7 worth.

    It happens when:
    1. you copy / paste a single file or folder
    2 rename a file
3 save a file with a text editor
    4 random

Note: I'm a poweruser then please, do not answer telling me to "perform a clean boot" or simplistic answers as such.

    My configuration is very simple:
    ATI Radeon 2600 graphics card
    Intel Quad Core CPU
    Seagate hard drives
    Chipset Intel ICH7 (975 x)
    JMicron JMB36x controller

Here's my question: according to all my research, this problem is especially on x 64 versions of Windows 7. And no, this isn't hardware related, because I had the same problem on 2 computers (fresh & clean).

You want to settle this problem once and for all? Please let me know when you do.

Change (an example of log events on this subject):
The program explorer.exe version 6.1.7600.16404 ceased to interact with Windows and was closed. To see if there is more information about the problem, check the history of the problem in the control panel of the center of the Action.

    Hello Zacchino ,

It is always recommended that you take a backup of the registry before you edit the values, because incorrect modifications can cause strange behaviors and at worst could even damage your operating system completely, forcing you to reinstall Windows.

We encourage you to try the registry changes, but only if you know what you're doing and if you do it carefully.

The cause of this particular accident of Windows Explorer is related to SQM Client, which is part of the (CEIP) product improvement program. Under by default, where MachineThrottling is enabled in the registry, all calls to WinSqmStartSession in the ntdll.dll file will make Explorer crash, or Windows Installer installation to fail.

So instead wait for a patch or an update from Microsoft, just remove and delete the MachineThrottling registry registry system entry. The MachineThrottling registry entry is located inside the following registry key: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SQMClient\Windows\DisabledSessions

    * NOTE * If you don't know what you do within the registry, to stop and not continue.  Ask for help who knows what they are doing and what you can recover your registry database if a failure occurs.

    To make it easy, you can simply create your own small batch with the following command file;

    reg delete HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SQMClient\Windows\DisabledSessions /v MachineThrottling/f

At this point, you can close the registry and right click on your file or icon, and you should be good to go.

If that is not good so I think that you are only left with clean boot that Explorer.exe crashes usually are upshots of third party application conflicts and minimal boot is the only solution I can think.

  • Explorer.exe crashing - related to the user account?

A week ago my computer started to sometimes get an APPCRASH explorer.exe error that displayed. No idea what caused it or started.

It happens randomly (or apparently) but I can also re-create this error at will by doing one of two things:

    (1) running any program of fullscreen (games)

    (2) / off turning one of the system icons in the options menu "taskbar and Start Menu Properties-> area-> system Notification icons.

    I am running Windows Vista SP2 64-bit.

A side effect of this error is that my quick launch on the taskbar icons have a messed up display, sometimes they are blackened, sometimes they are cut in two, sometimes they appear in the wrong place.

ALSO worth noting, is that it occurs only under my main account to connect. I created a separate account and it does NOT suffer this error and the two methods to recreate listed above fail.

I found 2 other assignments with the same error message. I tried all the fixes on both without success.

  • Win7 appcrash App: explorer.exe fault: ntdll.dll

    Hi, thanks for my question!

After leaving my computer in hibernation during the night a few days before, I found a few updates had been installed and the system tried to reboot. Permit this and after restarting, I tried to resume editing of audio files and browsing the forums. I started seeing pop-ups telling me that Windows Explorer has stopped working. Choose "Search the Web for a solution and restart" failed to retrieve the results. The problem ~ every 2.2 minutes after that the Explorer was launched, and close the Explorer does not stop the cycle.

I did the steps proposed in other cases of appcrash quite similar, including the clean boot: no joy. I'm at the end of my competence, but also my patience. While it is a computer pretty new (for me) and pretty cool update to Win 7Pro, I'd rather not wipe it and start over. I prefer a lot to know what went wrong and take corrective action.

DRM for all suggestions and explanations!

    -Sean-

The error points to the duser.dll which is a component of Windows:

    Probably caused by: duser.dll (duser! CoreSC::xwSendNL + 1bc)

There is also the participation of the dui70.dll that may indicate a problem with the graphic driver such as the hccutils.dll components.

Can update you the graphics driver to the latest version.

Post back if the error persists, or if it is impossible to update the graphics driver with in addition to the files of dump to see if the error is consistent.

Please, give suggestions so that I can fix my PC.

Error to ArcSpl.ax as the failed Module points.  This module belongs to the ArcSoft MPEG splitter program.  The module goes back to Wed Jun 14 00:27:26 2006 and is probably not compatible with Win7.
Please uninstall the ArcSoft program and see if that stops at the AppCrashes.
