  Yes, it's a scam. Do not give them access to your PC, they will try to steal personal data such as bank details etc. When they call again just tell them you don't have a PC or simply hung up. Never provide personal details or credit card number because they are also after the money too.

  Unless you have a prepaid contract or have opened a support ticket no Microsoft will call you about your PC problems.

  The fact that they called you is violating your privacy. For service companies, if you call them and ask for help, they will call you back or if request you the support from them.   Either these so-called "Microsoft" Tech companies want to sell you a worthless software, or remote access to your computer to try to steal your credit card and bank information and also achieve an identity theft on you.

  You are the only person who knows if you gave them remote access.

  If you gave them remote access and you do Internet banking, contact your bank, to explain, and change passwords.

  If you use your online credit card, cancel and get a new one issued to you.

  And the only way that willl you know that you are free to them is to backup your data and do a clean install of your operating system.

  Unless I misunderstood the question, you can do what you want to do. Apple does not allow to circumvent their public applications store and host on a Web site. The exception is an enterprise application, which requires a company to both Apple and Adobe account. This type of business application can be distributed only within the company.   Since your password has not changed for access, the password may have been learned through strikes or phishing somehow. It would still be a good idea to update your password information and security.  http://www.Apple.com/legal/more-resources/phishing/

  Two-factor authentication is perhaps something to look at as well, so you can be made aware of all the connections on your account. Two-factor authentication for Apple ID - Apple Support. To do this, before you change the other security settings on your account as your password if you decide to go ahead with it.   Since when are you facing the issue?

  Can I know the version of Ventrilo you use on your computer?

  It may be that World of Warcraft focuses on your audio hardware.  You can try to reduce the audio settings in WoW to see if this makes the use of Ventrilo better.  It may also be a driver problem.  I would check to make sure that you have the latest drivers for your audio device.

  Use the following steps to ensure that the audio drivers are up to date.

  1. connect to the Internet.

  2. click on start and enter the Device Manager in the start search field.

  3. click on the plus sign next to sound, video and game controllers.

  4. right click on the name of the sound material and select software update of the driver...

  5. click on search automatically for a driver updated and wait for Windows to update the driver software.

  6 Windows checks a remote Web site to see if the update of the driver software is available.

  * If an update is available, let Windows install the update.

  * If an update is not available, proceed to the next step.

  7. once the update is successfully installed, test the microphone.

  Please follow the steps below and check if you still have questions echo.

  Go into Ventrilo Setup and select mixer for the sound card, which will be the audio input (as determined by the "Input device" option) device. This will populate the Mux and line options. Normally it would take only a Mux. It is possible that you may have many options of the line. Go ahead and select "Microphone" or anything that is appropriate for the input line and then click OK.

  This should solve the problem.

  Please note that you select mixer, mux and line will allow the "Hardware Volume" slider This gives you the control hardware on the audio input signal and is the best way to control how strong you are. Setting the cursor to halfway better seems to work for most people, but it will be hardware and system load.

  It is a SCAM! Do not leave them in your computer! If you did and you use your computer for banking or online, you will need to call your Bank and credit card companies, and then your computer will need to be formatted and reinstalled. If you search these forums you will see MANY results for this this kind of scam.

  Microsoft never call you unless you have initiated the call.

  For a first test, the simplest method is to organize before a time and date when you're both already connected to the internet and connected to Skype.

This company is legitimate.  I become more suspicious when they ask to enter my computer remotely while I followed the instructions to remove the so-called infection.  I don't trust everybody these days and trust no one!
