  • [Aspire One] Tilt screen breaks webcam and USB

I have a netbook Aspire One ZG5 with Windows XP Home edition.

If I tilt/adjust the screen at all, I get two problems:

    (1) I heard the familiar sound of cutting something of a USB port, a USB icon appears in the system tray temporarily.  It is said there are 8 USB ports and one is broken.  My netbook has only 3 USB ports. I can't tell if something actually happens to USB devices when I do that.

    (2) if I use the CrystalEye webcam integrated with the Chrome browser, the webcam works until I restart the computer.

The effect of usb is intermittent, but the webcam breaks every time.  And he always did those things.

I can see the connection between the tilt screen and power management (to shut down the computer when the screen is completely folded down), but this link between the inclination of the screen and webcam and usb ports seems quite inexplicable to me.

    Advice to solve this problem?

    Thank you!

There are two things you can do:

    1. Tilt the screen.  I know, I know... but it's an alternative to the #2.

    2. Contact technical support in your region for assistance with this hardware problem.

Honestly, it's a hardware problem that must be dealt with by the system service.

  • Aspire One 522 screen does not

The monitor left on my netbook (Aspire One 522 Windows 7), the machine works when connected to an external monitor. I tried upgrading the BIOS, but the screen does not always react. Anything else I can try before I get another machine for my trips?

    Thank you

    John

    Hi John:

I had what seems to be the same problem with the AO722. It unfortunately turns out to be a pause that has developed in the display ribbon cable & camera near the hinge area - it's intermittent at first, but eventually the screen cover works (the problem of the famous black screen that is not fixable with a bios upgrade). I was forced to use either an external monitor or TV hdmi to work with the system until I finally took the laptop part (a royal pita, withdrawal plug-in keyboard was the worst part) and replaced the Ribbon by a piece of Amazon.com. The part number of the tape is marked on the Ribbon connector.

Right now, I try to avoid opening and closing the lid too to reduce stress on the Ribbon near the hinge area - the Ribbon takes a tortuous path in this hinge - I'm surprised that the original lasted as long as he did. Also, I covered the keyboard of the snap-ins with tape is easier to remove if I have to take off again - hope not! I use black tape to tape actually the upper part of the keyboard on the main body of the computer - not noticeable.

  • Acer Aspire One D257-13450 fixed size window too big for the screen

I have an Acer Aspire One D257-13450 running Windows 7 Starter Edition, and when I open some windows (e.g. Brother MFC 990CW control of scanning parameters), the window is too large to be completely displayed on the screen. The bottom of the window is hidden under the bottom edge of the physical screen.  The window can me moved around the screen as usual but I can't move it to the top of the screen enough to see the bottom of the window - this is where the selection of options for this window buttons. This particular window has only a close button in the upper right and not the usual buttons Minimse or restore down. I have connected a monitor external and also adjusted the screen resolution and nothing doesn't affect the ability to resize the window and get off at the buttons of options I need. I was able to guess the buttons under the edge of the screen by using the tab key to tab through all the options in this window, but it is not very satisfactory. Any suggestions please?

Many netbooks with Starter have only a 1024 x 600 screen - if the program needs a minimum of 1024 x 768 it may not work or may not display all. But it wouldn't be because of the netbook, Windows.

I have an Acer Aspire One Netbook.  (No DVD player).  From the start on the hard drive, I get a black screen with a blinking cursor.  The cursor does not type.  For me, maybe I need to reinstall windows 7 and startup tasks are corrupt.  I have my product key genuine for the computer, but no way to get to windows.  How to restore windows on a netbook that won't start?

original title: Netbook Windows 7 problem

New computers coming often pre-installed with Windows 7 have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

If your recovery partition is not available or damaged, you must contact the manufacturer of your computer, and request that a defined recovery disk you can use to reinstall Windows 7. They could practice a small shipping and handling.

Borrow a 32 bit Genuine Windows 7 friends DVD disc if you know someone who has one.

Make an image of the DVD, you can use a program like ISO Recorder to do.
    http://alexfeinman.com/

If you don't have a Windows 7 DVD to borrow, try to upload a picture:

    32 bit
    http://MSFT-DNL.digitalrivercontent.NET/msvista/pub/X15-65732/X15-65732.ISO

You change the content of the. ISO file and delete the ei.cfg file. After having edited burn it to a blank DVD disc or put it on a USB key. Startup, it will reveal all editions of Windows 7, select the Starter edition. More information in the following article on how to change the file ei.cfg

You can create a bootable USB stick with the following:
    Download Windows 7 USB/DVD tool
    http://store.Microsoft.com/help/ISO-tool

Skip entering your product key Windows 7 and complete the installation.

When you reach the desktop, click Start, right-click on computer

    Click on properties

Scroll down to the Windows Activation

Click the link x days before activation.

Click on the link that says: "show me other ways to activate.

Enter the product key (this is the key of Windows 7 Starter, which would be located on the COA sticker at the bottom of your laptop)

    Click next

Select the Activation of the phone

Click Next when you enter your key page

    Select your country

Click Next, call the number listed

Be sure to explain your situation to the Appeals Officer.

They will give a confirmation ID, enter it

Click next to complete the activation.

Once activation is complete, enjoy yourself, make a backup of your installation of Windows 7 Starter please? You will need to do this an external hard drive, but its worth it. Because if your installation is messed up, all you have to do is to restore from a backup.

    http://www.notebooks.com/2009/10/24/how-to-backup-your-installation-of-Windows-7/

Once the backup is complete, you can do an upgrade to Windows 7 Professional by using the product key that you have, if it's a full key, Windows 7 Professional Anytime Upgrade retail or upgrade license key.

Click Start, type Anytime Upgrade, follow the on-screen Wizard, enter the key of Windows 7 Professional on demand, click Next and restart your computer when you are prompted. Less than 10 minutes, you should be upgraded to Windows 7 Professional and your files and settings retained.

Reactivate the installation, you may also do it by phone:
    Activate Windows 7 manually:
    1. click on start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4

    2. press enter on your keyboard

    3. Select your country.
    4. Select the telephone activation option and brace yourself for a real person.

  • WINDOWS 7 STARTER/ACER ASPIRE ONE UPDATE HELP

I have a brand new Acer Aspire One Netbook.  It is brand new, so after I did the initial installation for the new netbook, Windows 7 is an update.  When the update is complete, it blocks my netbook.  I get a black screen and a cursor only.  The only way I can fix it is to restore back to the factory and start all over again.  Anyone know why this is happening or that updates 62 is the cause? I basically can't update my OS until it is fixed or know where it is and it can check the updated list.

You say you have 62 updates. The only true way to know what update is the cause of the problem is by installing one at a time.

I was looking especially the optional updates as shows drivers etc. If you are offered drivers, you should consult the manufacturer's website to see if indeed you really need the updated drivers.

  • Built in mic on acer aspire one does not

The microphone on my acer aspire one netbook does not work. I am running windows XP on the netbook and had this problem once before some time back, but can't remember what the person tech told me to uninstall that does the job all of a sudden again. I use also the audio if it helps Realtek HD. I tried several times to update the drivers and reinstall the software from the acer site, it does not work... any suggestions?

    Hello

    Thank you for your message.

I see that you are facing problems with the built-in microphone.

Let's not worry! I'm here to help.

    Quick questions:

    1. what exactly happens when you use the built-in microphone? You receive an error message?

    2. What is the status of the device in Device Manager?

Check out this link to learn more about device manager:

    By using Device Manager

    http://www.Microsoft.com/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/proddocs/en-us/snap_dev_mgr.mspx?mfr=true

Let's try the following and check:

    Method 1:

We will adjust the volume of your microphone and check if it is set as default.

    (a) right click on the "speaker" icon located on the bottom right corner the screen of the taskbar.

    (b) click on sounds, click on the recording tab.

    (c) click Microphone, and then click Properties. (Note to make sure that this work appears under Microphone. If the job does not appear, click on Microphoneand then click set as default.)

    (d) in the Properties of the Microphone dialog box, click the custom tab.

    (e) select or clear the check box Amp Microphone .

    (f) click the levels tab.

    (g) set the slider for the volume to the desired level, and then click OK.

    (h) click on OK to close the sound dialog box.

    Method 2:

I would also say that you update the drivers for your Microphone and looking for the issue.

Even with no UEFI support, basic 15 sec task machine boots are really fast. Video or live streaming, there could be some lag but is a normal cause its low vintegrated GMA video.

But some improve I can try now. I installed version of Windows is 64-bit. We know that 64 bit systems need at least 4 GB to run fluenty. So I'll install male and 32-bit W10 system more stable but that the CPU bottleneck.

  • Hi, Skype no longer works on Acer Aspire One AOD255E

    Hello

I have a friend with an Acer Aspire One AOD255E.

He got an Intel Atom Processor N455 @ 1.66 GHz

    1.0 GB OF RAM

32-bit Edition of Windows 7 Starter

Skype has worked on the machine.  He said that there is an update available, so the user updated, but since the update, Skype cannot start.

The Skype version before the update was 6.05.  The updated release of Skype was 6.11.

There are some Windows updates, and Norton 360 has been installed since the 6.05-> 6.11 update.

    What I tried:

    • Uninstalled Skype 6.11
    • Reinstalled Skype 6.11
    • Uninstalled Skype 6.11
    • Installed Skype 6.05
    • Close the Norton 360 anti virus and firewall
    • A system restore before the updates of Windows
    • Run Safe Mode

None of them worked.  I was not able to uninstall Norton 360 because the user don't know the user name and password because his brother had added to the account and gave not details.

What happens is that when you start Skype, Windows 7 offers widgets, then you get the title bar, minimize, maximize and close buttons, and the sidebar.  However, the screen remains white, and the mouse pointer flashes just.  Never, it opens and does not yet give the blue background of classic Skype with the 'busy' icon renewable.

As I say, used to work on this material, if anyone has any ideas other than uninstalling Norton 360, which seems the last culprit?

    Thanks in advance.
