How to check a company called Microsoft Support?
I keep getting phone calls from a company called support essential Microsoft technical support request. I paid for support over two years with a company, but I don't think it's the same company. In any case, the calling company says that they are part of Microsoft and they can update my security settings to keep hackers out of my network and keep someone who they say hacked into my network and sending offensive spam. It's for real? I live in the country and have no neighbors. How a person to hack my network? I have literally no neighbors within 2 miles.
Its a variant of this type of scam.

I want to report a scary encounter with the Technical Support of Microsoft Office. They wanted $400.00 to install their toolbar on my computer and wouldn't answer my questions of office until I supported their business. It's an official call to a microsoft call center. They had me on the phone two hours, wanting to show me a demo on how silverlight cookies and registry entries were virus and that I needed and the experience of their "golden opportunity." There was so much wrong with what they were saying, I couldn't believe it. And they were aggressive in trying to get my credit card in their third-party site, which came a warning in Internet Explorer, saying that the site has "dangerous content". They then left 5 voicemails on my phone, who were polite but really weird. I have no idea what they were talking about, but I have a screen shot when they took control of my PC and wanted my credit card. I don't give them nothing. I do not know how to attach the screenshot here, there is no option for it.
I feel fear they will continue to contact me. I gave them a false address because they insisted that they ask him to help me. They said they have four thousand employees to make sure they get my information.Later, I again called Microsoft Office support and was waiting for 30 minutes before the man clung to me. He had no questions, he simply put me on hold and half an hour later hung up.Help, please.Hello

You did the right thing.
Calls unrequested telephone of this nature are almost always a common scam. Do not let them give any info, do not give access to your PC, not give them all the money and do not go to all the websites that they suggest. One moment.
Please see:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/security/online-privacy/msname.aspx .
Microsoft issues never not solicited for phone calls of support or security.
These types of callers can use completely fictitious names or bogusly claim to be of real companies other than Microsoft as well.

Technicians in people call Microsoft to fix computer reported errors?

One of the computer in our office could not start. After all troubleshooting - I ended up doing the reinstallation of the OS - but the thumbnail of my product key at the bottom of the laptop is so blurry. Can I call Microsoft and get the free product key exchange?
No, they will not offer it. How can they prove that you are entitled to it?
Recovery plant, using the partition HD or the manufacturer disks you generated when you 1st got the laptop do not require a key, because it's built. Some manufacturers may provide this disk set at a cost.
Very rarely the manufacturers will be keeping a record of the key that they provided with the laptop and that provide a proof of purchase.

I got a call saying they call Microsoft. 253-802-0309.
Well, just as the title says, today 04/05/2013 at 09:40 (UTC-8) West of USA.
I got a call saying they call Microsoft. (YES, YES... I know that microsoft never, never make such calls). They said that my computer anti-virus has expired, and I need to renew. They asked me if I have my computer close to their Web site. (I guess that means, a microsoft Web site or a Web site of the antivirus).
Well, after I told him (as a man) did you know that microsoft never call their customers as their own antivirus microsoft you don't need to buy another because is free? So guy stop talking... after that I have no response from her... hhehehe lol
Well, here's the phone number 253-802-0309
Is absolutely a scam, and I'm just here to report them. You guys need to start an investigation, because you do not know how many people fall each day in such scams. (not my case = P).
"Eduardo Samayoa" - congratulations, you did the right thing and as you say, it's a scam.
MS are aware and deliver advice http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/security/online-privacy/msname.aspx (for example).
I'm not sure its easy to stop it well.

First of all, please note that Microsoft never had a product called Outlook 6. Without a doubt, you are referring to Outlook * Express *, no prospects. The two are very different products.
Second, you do not say who the 'they' are that say you to go to the Geek Aquad, but it is * terrible * advice. Geek Squad is Best Buy computer service company. They are largely incompetent and are among the worst places to be used for any type of service or advice, stay away from them and of all the big box stores for the service.
Thirdly, using Outlook Express (or any other e-mail program) for e-mail is much better in many ways what to do with the yahoo mail or any other mail on the web.
But to use Outlook Express (or any other email program), you must set up correctly. Among the things you tell her eraf the names of your POP3 (incoming mail) server and the SMTP server (for outgoing mail) contact your ISP (or look on their website) and get instructions about how to configure Outlook Express to them.

I play with my system for most. Oblivion, Call of Duty 4 & 5 and. Al. Because it is virtually impossible to get a proper feedback from microsft, even if I paid for the software and I am now obliged in this type of purgatory, I trying to find people who share the same ideas that have been through this process and leard how to streamline this OS into something that works from time to time.
Hello OM603,.
Thank you for posting. It seems to me that what you really want is a slightly streaming on Vista Basic. Since you said that you want to remove things like the Media Center, which leads me to believe that you have Home Premium or Ultimate.
As a player myself, I'll give you the advice you're looking for is how to disable the services.
Below I've included a link to a very useful site for you, and I would also say that you search for BlackViper.Important note: this response contains a reference to third party World Wide Web site. Microsoft provides this information as a convenience to you. Microsoft does not control these sites and no has not tested any software or information found on these sites; Therefore, Microsoft cannot make any approach to quality, security or the ability of a software or information that are there. There are the dangers inherent in the use of any software found on the Internet, and Microsoft cautions you to make sure that you completely understand the risk before retrieving any software Internet.
I've also included the steps to view and adjust the services in windows.
This should give you all the information to twist and streamline your system for maximum game performance.
Consulting services running on your computer by using the Task Manager
You can use Manager tasks to display the services that are running on your computer. You can also find processes that could be associated with a particular service. (A process is a file, for example an executable file that ends with an .exe file name extension, that the computer uses to directly start a program or to start other services.)
Click to open the Task Manager.
Click the Services tab to see the services that are running under your user account.
To find out if there is a process associated with a service, right-click on the service and then click go to process. If go to process is gray out and unavailable, it's because the selected service is currently stopped. The status column indicates whether a service is running or stopped.
Notes
If you click go to process but no process is not highlighted in the processes tab, the process is not running under your user account. To view all processes, click the processes tab, and then click Show processes from all users. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. Click the Services tab, and then try again to see the process.
If you right-click a process on the tab process, then click go to service (s), but you don't see any highlighted services, then the process does not all associated services, regardless of whether processes from all users are shown or not.
Clicking Services at the bottom of the Services tab opens the Services Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in, where advanced users can view more details about services and configure additional options.

report of suspicious calls "Microsoft."
At 11:16 (PST) today our telephone office and phone rang a few seconds apart. I answered the office phone, my wife answered the phone at home. A man who sounded like it was said in India with Windows Office customer and was called because my computer was producing a lot of somethings 'international' and error messages, indicating that it is probably infected by malicious viruses. I asked him his number twice. When he give it to me, I hung up.
A moment later my wife went down with a similar message and handed me the phone. The man identified himself as 'Alex '. He also sounded like he was in India and named a Microsoft service - department slightly different name which I did not write down. He asked me: "How are you today." I said clearly, 'Suspects '. He started to tell me some things on my computer. I asked him his phone number, and he gave it to me as: 8635 78 3 double 15. I said to him saying that I had heard wrong: 8635 78 37115 and he corrected me: 8635 78 3 double-1 5 (i.e. 8635 78 3115) Then I said I would say Microsoft to check myself and hung up.
I checked my log of phone calls online and find both the calls listed from the: 000-090-0700.
