  I tried VM Ware server and VM Ware converter quite earlier, and they have done wonders for purposes of recovery after a disaster.

  Now that I've posted this, you should be able to mark as answer. Glad to hear you got it going. I tend to have my records most commonly used as ISO images so that they are (a) to the hand and (b) much faster than physical discs installation. Depending on where you store the ISOs, you can add additional data store (where VMware stores its files in a folder).

  Now, even after the withdrawal of these VMs, my hard drive space is not recovered.

  It depends on the host OS. Take a look at one of the existing virtual machines in VMware Workstation GUI. You should see the path under the console on the right window.

• Keep XP Pro for another use and

  I have Win 8.1 on a computer and he loved nothing, too many questions. My husband used to war on internet games and nothing else.

  So my question: If you think that now my XP on another, standalone, server; load Malwarebytes, Super Anti Spyware and Norton 360 will be enough to keep it healthy and safe for a while. The community and the Forum taught me a lot on my XP system, I know that I can take care of him for a while.

  I also want to know if I can remove some items MS I've never used in both XP and Win 7: connect Windows Live/Live Sync Upload Tool /Live / MS Games to market / Windows Live Messenger / Photo Gallery /Writer should / safe family / anything to do with editing / or fax/email/or the cloud storage / files such as those.  Can I uninstall/remove Security Essentials and defender of the window in my XP after 4/8, since their will will have no other updates for safety.

  You can create shared discs by editing the file manually .vmx (never tried on my good computer)

  or you can also use Virtualbox, which is free and supports the shared disks

  We have APEX 4.1 installed on Ubuntu 10.4 with the latest version of the APEX-listener.
  
  We want to achieve is that we are able to collect our Javascript extensions and css next to the folder is in a folder of our own.
  Problem now is UNIX, this doesn't seem to be possible, because we are unable to load any resource of this folder. The only solution we could come up with is to place a symbolic link in the/i/folder-pointing to the directory we want to include.
  The folder we want to include got 777 to exclude any potential problems of access to in UNIX
  
  Under Windows, this doesn't seem to be the case.
  
  If someone had a similar problem or is able to give advice on how to fix this?

  Hi Jürgen,

  This does not work in stand-alone mode, the integrated nature fixed contexts (including + / i + and + / apex +) without the chance to bring custom contexts.
  It will run in GlassFish/Tomcat, if you deploy content correctly. You can do this by creating a war file that carries your files, but I wouldn't recommend it has static content more convenient ways.
  Tomcat has for example a context ROOT when running on a default configuration. This context can be used for static content similar to a simple HTTP server host, for example when using the htdocs of the Apache HTTP server as docroot. So you could simply copy your directory foo in the context of the ROOT and should be able to access the content using http://yourtomcathost:yourtomcatport/foo/file name .
  GlassFish is a concept similar to this: each domain has a docroot directory. As explained for Tomcat, you can simply create or copy your directory foo it so that it is available for your customers.

  If this does not work, you have a general problem with your GlassFish/Tomcat configuration, like the docroot has nothing to do with the earpiece of the APEX. I have just retestet with fees GlassFish/Tomcat on Ubuntu 8.04 LTS (Server Edition) as follows:
  1 download the http://glassfish.java.net/ zip or Tomcat mirror packages respectively.
  2 unzip the package
  3. create the directory 'foo' docroot (for GlassFish) and ROOT (for Tomcat)

  How did you install your GlassFish/Tomcat on your Ubuntu?
  Whatever it is, if you tried the docroot/ROOT approach and doesn't, you can always try the war file deployment. Maybe your GlassFish/Tomcat instance has disabled the docroot/ROOT context for security reasons.

  Note that you can have both, that is, you cannot use the war with framework file + / foo + and have always a + / foo + subdirectory in your docroot/ROOT.

  Is there an advantage to use a deployment of the EAR from a WAR of CFMX8 on JRun4 deployment? (I know that the EAR is recommended)
  
  On our servers (Windows 2003, IIS 6 JRun4), we deployed CFMX7 as a WAR. (We use JRun clustering for ColdFusion if it makes a difference).
  We are going to migrate our applications CF CFMX8 where we get new servers (again Windows 2003 IIS 6). I intend to install JRun4, then updater 6 or 7 because we use multiple instances of JRun for other services.

  I'm trying to install Oracle 11 g R2 on RHEL6 using VM Ware workstation. I went through all the controls preinstallion and now want to create directories to hold the oracle software.

  My UNIX box has only one primary partition which is the root partition (/).

  Now the Oracle documentation on installing LInux say the following commands must be executed.

  # Pei mkdir /mount_point/app/

  # chown r oracle: oinstall /mount_point/app/

  # chmod 775 r /mount_point/app/

  For example:

  # mkdir -p /u01/app/  
  # chown -R oracle:oinstall /u01/app/ 
  # chmod -R 775 /u01/app/  

  I want to know is the following, which one should I get about this

  (a) create a new partition, make a new file system and then mount it on the directory/U01

  or

  (b) create a/U01 directory in the root (/) directory using mkdir and just go ahead with the installation without any additional partition or file system.

  as you use this machine in a virtual machine, you can simply create the folder with mkdir. The need for the mounting points on the various devices becomes relevant for productive environments due to performance reasons.

  Hello - I have received yesterday my new iMac of retina and transferred the VM Fusion with all the new Mac tips. Everything has gone well so far, but after setting the parameters for the new options of the retina, the mouse doesn't use VM Ware Tools. I reinstalled the tools, but I had no change. Yet the mouse is slow and I cannot leave the window of Fusion as it used to be. For any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks MK

  Please, try the following steps:

  1. remove the existing tools of the VM of the Panel--> uninstall a program

  2. restart your virtual machine and install the VM tools grouped.

  3. If the problem persists, make sure that the preference of mouse in VMware Fusion--> preferences--> game is NOT set to 'always optimize the mouse for games'

  I recently started to use VM Ware Fusion on my new MacBook Pro 15 "with the retina. The MacBook has 16 GB of RAM and I have two external monitors connected, the macbook screen is turned off.

  Whenever I run PowerPoint and select drawing shapes or word art when it blocks it asks if I want to save support information that I've done and attached.

  Where can I send this information, I'm still evaluating merger and this crash is a big problem for me.

  Try to disable "3D Graphics Accélération" in the settings of the Virtual Machine and see if it stops crashing.  If that's the case then it is a workaround until VMware resolves a problem where 5.0.2 involving NVIDIA GPU.
