  Welcome to Apple Support communities.  I'm glad you brought your question to be able to respond to messages directly from the lock screen, it is a feature I use all the time and I know it's convenient not having fully unlock and go to the app to respond quickly to a text.

  Let's check some settings to make sure that we have everything set up correctly for you to be able to respond to messages from the lock screen.

  The application of settings:

  1. Touch ID & password (enter your access code)
  2. Scroll down to ALLOW ACCESS when it is LOCKED
  3. Don't forget that respond with Message is enabled and set to green

  The double-click feature applies from the lock screen, not the home screen.

  To check that it is always enabled, go to: settings > portfolio & Apple pay > check that double click on the home page button is enabled.

You will need to do some work to keep it open, as ensuring that this search engine was the last tab that you had open before leaving Firefox. Now, if you open tabs before you quit Firefox you do not close, the last of them opens and can technically be your "homepage".   The clock was removed as a widget on the home screen and moved to the upper right. I think you may have seen a 1.0.1 version or earlier.

  Try going into settings > general > reset > reset home screen presentation.

  I would close an application, as soon as I'm done with it and not have to do so by accessing the home screen, then press during 2 seconds on the button home etc.
