Audio services does not... additional options for troubleshooting does not

Recently, I restarted my laptop and after restarting, I couldn't play any music media player, iTunes or xbox music. After hovering over the icon of the sound, he says that the Windows Audio service is not running. After troubleshooting the windows troubleshooting options seemed empty and not answered. It is the same for the control panel when I tried to open it manually. Someone please help this situation is disturbing. I use a Lenovo IdeaPad touch P500 running windows 8.1. If it helps, this is happening after the recent update to annex one or two days ago.

AVG is installed?

If AVG has therefore been reported recently, ask questions as in the next thread that has any suggestions to remedy the situation:

    Try the following.

Download the Realtek Audio Installer on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp66001-66500/sp66107.exe

When finished, press and hold the Windows key and press R.  In the run window, type devmgmt.msc and press ENTER.

Expand sound, video and game controllers.  Right click on the Realtek device and select uninstall - also, you should get a command prompt to delete the current driver, check the box allow this and then proceed to uninstall.

When you are finished, download and reinstall the Chipset driver at the following link.

    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp66001-66500/sp66094.exe

After reinstalling, shut down the laptop, unplug the AC adapter and then remove the battery.  Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds.  Reinsert the battery and plug in the AC adapter.

Let Windows load completely - it can automatically load an audio driver, but let just this complete.  Then open your download folder, right-click on the installation of Realtek Audio program and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the installation.  Once this done, do a right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select playback devices.  Left click 'Speakers and headphones' (or speakers/HP) once to highlight and then click on the button set as default (it will be gray if already defined)-check if you now audio.

If you have still no audio, hold down the Windows key and press R.  Type services.msc and press ENTER.  Search for audio Windows servive, right-click and select Properties.  If the service does not work, try to run.

If you still receive the "Windows could not start the service windows audio on local computer» Error OX800706cc - the endpoint is double ' mistake, you're best bet is to do a Refresh as detailed on the link below.

The sound icon has an x on it and ran the SCP prompt automatically update/fix drivers without success (may have spelled promot hurt, but it was the solution to many similar forum messages). I also tried to uninstall the audio driver and put it back, however when I run the driver installation an error message appears and says that Windows Audio is not running and needs in order to perform the installation. I went to the system administrator and seen the services menu and went to windows audio properties. I tried from the program and the error message "error 0 x 80004005: unspecified error" comes up. All dependent services for the Windows Audio are running, so I came to a dead end. The only thing I can think of that would make the audio not working do not is my battery. My battery is in poor condition and needs to be replaced, so I always us the AC cord to power the computer. Depends on Windows Audio battery somehow or something of this nature? If so, is there anyway around this until I can buy a new? Thanks for your help. Clay

  • Audio service does not not after download of Creative, restarts, error 0 x 80070002, the system cannot find the file specified

Yesterday, I downloaded and installed updated Creative to my its Soundblaster card from Windows Update.  It lead me to a large download of Creative for its console related sound and SW, and things worked fine.  When I restarted this morning, there was a horrible loud hum while Windows was loading, and I made a hard stop.  When I rebooted, the buzz was gone, but the icon in the status bar indicates that the sound was off.  The sound message indicates that the audio service is not running.  I tried to restart the computer several times, but the results were the same.  I tried to restart the audio service of the Task Manager, but got an error message 0 x 80070002, the system cannot find the file specified.  Where should I go from here?

    Hi Jfklinger,

This problem occurs because some legacy applications use files or components that were developed prior to Windows Vista. The names of these audio components may be different in Windows Vista. If the calling application uses the hard-coded file names, the new files and components could not be found.

To resolve this problem, use one of the following methods to change the audio settings for a device.

Method 1: use the order Volume of Windows

To use the Volume of Windows command to change the audio settings for a device, follow these steps:

1.right - click on the speaker icon in the notification area, and then click devices recording or reading.
    2. double-click - click the device for which you want to set the parameters. For example, double-click on Microphone.
    3. click on the levels tab.
    4. move the cursor upwards or downwards to set the desired volume level, and then click OK.

    Method 2: use Control Panel

For control panel allows you to change the audio settings for a device, follow these steps:

    1. click on Start, click Control Panel, click hardware and soundand then click sound.
    2. click on the tab playback or recording .
    3. double click the device for which you want to set the parameters. For example, double-click on Microphone.
    4. click on the levels tab.
    5. move the cursor upwards or downwards to set the desired volume level, and then click OK.

You may receive an error message when you run an application that uses the recording feature or audio playback in Windows Vista

  • Any solution for "The Audio Service is not running"?

Searching high and low on the Internet, I can't find a solution to the difficulty of the notification in the status bar:
"The Audio Service is not working" even if my audio works.  I find that this problem exists for many people using Win7.

I just found this link that Microsoft provided, (which means that it is indeed a problem acknowledged by Microsoft), but without any real fix.
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/2011656

Hey, someone from Microsoft can we give a hint he will never be a solution to this?

    Thank you.

    Reach:

Control Panel > administrative tools > view local Services
It's the "service" window, it lists all system services. Find "Windows Audio", NOT "Windows Audio Endpoint Builder.
[just click on any service, then press the letter 'W' on your keyboard, will need you the services starting with the letter 'w']
Right-click on the "Windows Audio" service and choose "Properties".
You will see 4 tabs, click on the last one, titled "dependencies".
In this tab, you will see the box "this service depends on the following system components", it displays 3 services
Next to each service, there is a "+" icon, click on it to expand the list. 2nd service 2 child services, the 3rd service will be 1 serving children.
Now make sure that all 6 services (3-hand, 3 children) have the status of "started" in the "Services" window you opened earlier
Most propably you will find one of these services don't work, just start all the, then try to start the service "Windows Audio" in the tab "general".
    That's all
