  Start > connect to > show all connections > and disable the wireless, while there, check your "wired" connection to the local area network properties. Click right and in the general tab, select TCP/IP and click Properties and configure it to your network, probably you want to get the IP and DNS services automatically. Save settings and close.   Sounds to me like the port has been disconnected somehow, as it should be a combo wireless connection/WiFi card as you requested.  You can check to make sure that the port is still connected properly, however it is likely that it will need to be replaced.
