I had a virus AVG 'false '. He resumed and me locked out all my programs (except it would allow me to open a browser because he wanted me to go to his site and 'buy' his removal program). I don't have that. After fruitless attempts to remove it otherwise, I rebooted in safe mode and restore my computer to a configuration earlier and restarted in normal mode. My computer seems to agree and operates fully in all abilities - I thought that fixed the problem - EXCEPT now I can't open and run moy. She is turned 'off' and does not allow me to 'works '. I tried to download other programs such as Spybot, Viper, Malwarebytes anti virus. I'm coming to the party 'run program' installation and nothing more happens. Someone told me that I have to go into my registry and remove the H_Keys virus, but I (1) do not know how to and (2) not sure if that will fix the problem. Again, my computer works very well and all the pop ups virus telling me that I got the virus has disappeared, but I'm uncomfortable, internet connection not knowing if it's really gone and do not have a security against new viruses. HELP PLEASE...

Problems of Firefox and AVG dialog
I have a weird problem that just started today. My antiviris AVG program maintains the opening of dialog boxes to download what it claims it's a file cpm.htm, described as a file HTML Firefox and coming from cpm.avg.com. Box asks if I want to download the file. I can't close the unhappy things if I close one, another opens, it's like dealing with the head of Medusa.
It doesn't seem to be any email support for AVG, just a USA phone number (I'm in the United Kingdom). Did somebody encountered this problem? I guess it's a virus, but none of my 'tools' have found anything (SpyBot, Malware Winzip).Problem is now solved. It was an AVG issue and not Firefox but necessary remote tech support for AVG to kill the problem.

If firefox will not let me run the avg2012 then I have to switch to a browser that will be I have anther computer running windows 7 and avg2012, but do not use it yet on the net at all times
This problem is known since the version 4 6 and even it its v14 now please fix this well-known problem.Firefox will work perfectly fine on a computer with AVG to 2012. I guess that what you are meaning, is the AVG toolbar in Firefox? It's not your antivirus, and even with that, disabled, you're still protecting (AVG works on your computer, not your browser). The anti-virus toolbars are pretty useless and do nothing to protect your safety which is not integrated into Firefox.
I would say this:
Upgrade to Firefox 14. Sticking them with older versions like Firefox 10 you leave yourself open to security vulnerabilities. Update Firefox to the latest version. Ignore all the warnings about diabling AVG, your virus protection will always be run (you can find in the area of notification to the clock and he see there)Then, to run an update on average, Chances are it will update the toolbar.

I want to update, but does not lose the security I have and like you.
A catch-22 here: updated to avoid blocking-time problems and lose my security, I'm uncomfortable with OR keep my AVG security and put up with the frustration of time hang "Mozilla does not.
You're welcome, BamaGirl.

Using Windows 7 with all updates. Computer has 6 GB of ram and has no problems with other sites
If these messages back, see AVG support on how to increase the threshold trigger the trigger for this message. With 6 GB of RAM, there is no reason for Firefox using less than 10% of your RAM to be a problem and cause this message appears. IMO, the alarm should not trigger up to about 50%.

problem Windows xp and avg internet security
Program AVG Internet Security - AVG PC Tune Up - changed/corrupted my Windows Defragmenter program. Before downloading the free version of this Tune Up program that I had always used the drive Windows Cleanup and Defragmenter programs. When I now try to defragment my files I get the following message when I try to analyse the "Disk Defragmenter has detected that Chkdsk is scheduled to run on the volume: (c). Please run Chkdsk/f.
AVG 2 offer help options a) contact Microsoft) b computer restoration to date before you download Tune Up.
Do not use my computer for anything else on internet purchases, store my pictures, my banking and the strange E-mail but does not want to resume a year. All of the suggestions. I have disinstalled program AVG PC Tune Up months trying to make my computer run faster. AVG informed me that my security bought 18 month program there is need the upgrade and that is why its doing all my programs so slow. I don't have any computer talk or knows anything much about them (code of machine 20 years ago!)
(a) contacting Microsoft won't help you
(b) restore your computer won't help youThe problem is your HARD drive has been marked "sale" and you cannot defragment a dirty volume.
Your HARD drive may have been marked dirty of a power interruption, using the power button, pulling the plug, abnormal termination, aborted reboot, etc..
You can query the dirty bit on a volume from the command prompt window. Here's how:
Click Start, run and enter in the box:
cmd
Click OK to open the command prompt window.
For example, to query the bit of impurity on drive C, type this command:
fsutil dirty query C:
The sample output:
Volume c is dirty
Volume C: is dirtyType "exit" to close the command prompt window.
No amount of order entry, no amount of editing the registry deletes the on a volume's dirty bit (sorry that Microsoft committed 'experts' Support Engineer)
Only a chkdsk with error correction (chkdsk/r) can clear the dirty bit, and it might not work the first time.
To run chkdsk/r, click on start, run and enter in the box:
Chkdsk /r
Click OK and the answer you want volume checked on next reboot (restart of course).
This disk check can last a long time (perhaps several to several hours) depending on the size of the volume, the amount of data on the volume and what the disk check finds to do. You may need to run more than once.
When chkdsk runs automatically restart either because XP thinks he needs to (perhaps your NTFS volume has been marked as dirty) or you have chosen to do it yourself, the results appear in the viewing Application event log. You should look there for the chkdsk log and no problems after running chkdsk.
To view the logs in Event Viewer, click Start, settings, Control Panel, administrative tools, event viewer.
A shortcut to the event viewer is to click on start, run and enter in the box:
%SystemRoot%\system32\eventvwr.msc
Click OK to launch the event viewer.
Search the Application log for an event originally by Winlogon, something like:
Event type: Information
Event source: Winlogon
Event category: no
Event ID: 1001
Description:Checking file system on C:
The type of the file system is NTFS.
A disk check has been programmed.
Windows will now check the disk.
39070048 KB total disk space.
25151976 KB in 78653 files.
48256 KB in 10264 index.
0 KB in bad sectors.
237080 KB in use by the system.
65536 KB occupied by the log file.
13632736 KB available on disk.
Windows has finished checking your disk.If you see errors - same errors that are corrected, run chkdsk /r again until you see no error. You should have no errors.
Check again the dirty bit. Rinse and repeat if you wish.

My Eee PC 1000HE is insalled with Windows XP and Service Pack 3. I tried to download the Windows Live, Skype and AVG antivirus without success because they said that they could not detect my internet connections. I tried it on my workplace and my house so I think this isn't the router issue, it is the configuration on my computer. Also, I discovered that even I have disabled the windows firewall on my computer, the Security Center has always indicated that at least part of the firewall is still on. How to identify and disable firewall? Could this be a problem with IE8? I have to manually configure anything? I thank you and appreciate your help.
If after your turn off the Windows Firewall, it shows that you have firewall, it means you want running an other firewall? You run any internet security software?
You can try to reset internet explore (Tools-> internet option-> advance tab, then reset) and see if the problem is resolved. Alternatively, you can try to contact your ISP and ask them for help, they could provide you with the configuration information.
