Backup of the entire database inconsistent

In this scenario you should back up the database after a crash of the instance or one the judgment.

before you try to recover the database or other destructive task.

This will ensure that you have a place to go back as no worse than the already bad situation.

  • A SCN for the entire database and the different SNA for the data files?

    DB Version: 11 g

I always thought that there is a unique SCN for the database as a whole.
A quote from the link below as
When a control point is completed, Oracle stores the RCS individually in the control for each data file file
    http://www.dbapool.com/articles/1029200701.html

What does that mean? There is a SNA for the entire database, and there are individual SCN for each data files?

Well, unfortunately, the article says more bad than good things. Or if I can't call them wrong, they are rather confusing and rather than clear things for the reader, its making them appear to look more confused.

First things, YVERT is used for read consistency (CR) mechanism and the backbone of the notion of Multiversioning. The control point is the mechanism to help that recovery is decided. Contrary to what said article, not any kind of checkpoints update both the data file and the control file, and also, there is not a type of them as well. In addition, the article says that the LAST_CHECKPOOINT is set to NULL, while its actually set to the infinity since it is not possible to detect the moment when the database is opened, that the last issue of control over the file would be. In the case of complete control point, this number is saved and is also associated with the toa Controlfile own database leader at the next startup. If this is not the case, there is an inconsistency in the stop_checkpoint of the data file and the stop_checkpoint reocrded in the control file, leading to a recovery of the instance.

There are several types of control points. Similarly, there are several types of SNA as well. Without going into the details of these, IMO, the article simply means that when the control point write over a file passes, oracle updates the file checkpoint on it and this is recorded in the Controlifle. as well.

  • script to install the entire database from scratch?

I have Oracle database 10g and Java code to connect to the database and the system is running.
This database have been created over the years, incementally adding some objects, patterns, roles and so on.
How can I create a script now that settles the entire database from scratch?
I mean what can I create the file called "set_up_database.sql", which creates the database clone/copy of my current Production database now?

Yes it is possible. But it depends on the options that you set when you use expdp/impdp.

You can export the entire database or only some users, or even just a few tables.
You can choose to include or exclude data during export.
When you import, you can choose again to import with or without data. With data are possible cause only if the dmp files have included data.

You can also rename a schema during import.
Best way to start would be to do some exercises to imp/exp using a simple 'play' database.

  • Backup is the entire computer, not last point

Sorry to make a new question - I see a similar one on the sidebar, but can not understand how to put their hands on it.  Like her, I am using 5 DVD and an entire afternoon whenever I want to back up.  I paid previously for LiveOneCare (I believe was the name) and the back up regularly took 15 minutes - half an hour, on a part of a DVD.  That the right program was dropped recently, but of course this CAN BE DONE - then why can't still do us it the same way?

One of the answers from Microsoft talked to choose to back up only the files instead of the entire computer on the wizard.  I do not give me the choice.  Please fix.  I can back up my files, but what of all the downloads/updates etc, guys?

Backup provides a backup option selected files. Simply select the location of the files.

    For detailed information, see these:

Backup Windows does not give you too many options IMO. You can think of another backup utility (free or paid).

PS among paying utilities, Acronis is the best IMO.

  • Backup and the RAC database

    Hello

I was wondering that if I have a (10g) 2-node RAC database, the database is in noarchivelog mode. Is it possible that I can do a cold upward on one instance while the other instance still works?

    Thank you
    Chau

It is not a (consistent) backup cold if the other node is still in place and available. When you try to back up the other node, the CNS will not work with the current SNA. Maybe you can put the other node in "read only" mode while you perform a cold backup on the other node? Haven't tried, but just a suggestion. Is there a particular reason you want to make a backup of cold? RMAN works very well.

  • Files without a NAME during the Flashback Database

    ORA-01110: data file 5: ' / u01/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/dbs/UNNAMED00005'

    "

Why, in flashback, database, the data file associated with the storage space gets renamed to unnamed?

Thanks for the link and new info.

The reason is the same as in these quotes from doc that I have provided. As ORA-01111 indicates the name of the actual file is unknown so Oracle creates a unique name, then stops recovery so that you can provide the name and location.

Why, during the flashback database, retrieve a tablespace has fallen...

This formulation and the wording of the article, is probably what is mislead you. You cannot recover a tablespace using FLASHBACK DATABASE:

Here is the doc for FLASHBACK DATABASE

    http://docs.Oracle.com/CD/B28359_01/backup.111/b28273/rcmsynta023.htm

Notes A Flashback Database use operation applies to the entire base. You cannot flash back, individual storage spaces. A Flashback Database operation is similar to a point-in-time data recovery (DBPITR) with RECOVER , but RMAN uses flashback logs to undo changes to a point before the time runs out or SNA

See that second sentence? You NEED to recover the entire database and, as this quote from doc says, made it like CAMILLE by RECOVER.

In this example, the storage space AND data files were dropped. So please check the doc to DROP TABLESPACE

    https://docs.Oracle.com/CD/B28359_01/server.111/b28286/statements_9004.htm

Oracle database deletes all metadata about the space of storage data files and all the data dictionary tempfiles in the tablespace. The database also automatically removes the operating system all data files managed by Oracle and tempfiles in the tablespace. Other data files and tempfiles are not removed from the operating system unless you specify INCLUDING CONTENTS AND DATAFILES .

See? No additional data in the dictionary for the tablespace or data files. Real datafiles is more if they were managed by Oracle. But there MAY be data files of the operating system if you do NOT use this last clause.

If Oracle recreates the files using unique names and then allows you to CONFIRM that the name and location should really be.

You have a problem with that? Or just try to understand?

  • Failback and database of CA backup without the tunnels down server?

    Hello

We implement DMVPN in a PKI environment for authentication for better security.

I installed a server scenario and the customers of CA in the LABORATORY and it works very well. I am aware that we can save the database on the external media or server.

Now if my main or primary CA server fails, the certificate database will be unavailable until I have manually import those certificates to the router and until then my peerings all will be down (am I right?).

I would like to install 2 routers as CA servers. a 1st acting as main server having a public IP and the 2nd will be backup in case of failure of the primary. But I would like to first of all this as an automated where the backup that failing 1 router will resume immediately without the tunnels down.

Is there a way we can do that? All those put in place this design before? Help, please.

    Thank you

    Deepak

My design is such that there will not be "pre-shared keys" and only "PKI".

It is the main purpose of a PKI installation... ;-)

So in this case if peers have already established the connection to other peers and the CA server goes down then they will not go down, is that correct?

right. The IPSec peers interested in CA cert has to be registered or the CRL should be checked.

Also what is the configuration command to allow the connections if the CRL can't be loaded?
