I have a HP Pavilion dv7 and my agreement now bad hard drive to the Geek squad. My problem is that I'm not able to find my recovery disc and HP has no more of them. Do you know where I could buy the recovery disk?

    The official win7 ISO images can be downloaded here;

    http://www.w7forums.com/official-Windows-7-SP1-ISO-image-downloads-t12325.html

You download the version installed on your HP, burn a dvd using ISO, software, the burning at the slowest speed, on quality discs, then install it using the Win Key on the label on your PC.

You will then need to install specific drivers of HP, not of the preinstalled HP software will be at your disposal

  • HPE-390 t: bad hard drive

I have a desktop computer that the hard drive is bad.  The bad is 1.5 GB.  I do not have the recovery discs and I was wondering what I need to order another 1.5 gig disc if I indeed get the DVD recovery or can I go with a 1 GB?

I have a windows 7 DVD House and can load windows with using the product on the case id numbers if I had to.  It would be probably better if I didn't have the recovery discs because the drivers to load.  I intend never upgrade to windows 10 I like 7 much better.

I have upgraded to windows 10 a few months ago, but now it went with the player headed south.   I found a 1 GB for $50 with free shipping and it's one I'd like to buy, but not sure the recovery DVD would work if I use a hard drive that is smaller than the original. Thanks for any help on this. Tom

This is a company that several members have used to buy the recovery media.  Try them to see what is happening.  They were for much older than the one you are working on computers.

  • Charge of $621,78 for the bad hard drive

    Hi all

I know that this is not a question of remedy, but it should be expressed somewhere I found that I was charged for a Fujitsu 250 GB SATA HDD $621,78. Exact same drive price on ebay is $ 68. The party is certainly my fault. It was a warranty repair that turned bad. I put the old hard drive in the corner, and I forgot to return it. Warning e-mails of an imminent load was not read because of anti-spam filters. My fault. However, there is no way anyone can claim that a hard drive is worth anywhere near that amount. The laptop (a dv6700) was around $ 800! I called customer service and said that it can not be repaid, even if I have to return the defective part. I am currently waiting on a call while my case was refitted. I want just opinion of the public on this, and perhaps an HP employee who can actually do something about it will be advice. The spare part # the disk hard is 453775-001. Come on HP!

    Frustrated,

    -Corey Hansen

Gee... Thanks for the helpful reply. I already know it's my fault. The point is, I can't expect to pay that kind of money for a hard drive.

In any case, I'm happy to say that my money will be repaid. I got on the phone with them yesterday and they sent me directly to their row escalated. Apparently, the guy who helped me before in fact did nothing. All I have to do is send in the old part. Done and done.

At least we know there are a couple of sane people that work the lines of HP service. Just pray you get one when you call.

  • New XPS 8700 has Windows 8 loaded on the bad hard drive

I just got a Dell XPS8700 SE with a 256 GB SSD and 2 TB Hard Drive.

I got the 256 GB SSD to run all my programs and also to have windows load quickly to the SSD.

I was under the impression that Windows 8 would be responsible to the SSD.

Is this a mistake? Someone load Windows hard disk bad?

Is it possible to load Windows on the SSD as I want and make the SSD my C drive and open the disc of 2 TB for my files?

    Thank you

    Ken

I called Dell Support and the gentleman helped me to get Windows on the SSD and it seems that I am good to go.

He has been a great help and walked me through the process.

    Thanks :)

  • p6310t comes with bad HARD drive

The drive was DOA from HP. I did get a replacement drive rather than return the system. Pretty simple. 1 month later the new drive appears. The player was supposed to be imaged pre. It was not the case. They sent 4 recovery cd the problem is disk 1 of 4 is not bootable. The disk volume name is supportsent44, which is exactly the same as the disc 4 of 4. No much of the disc is classified. A call to HP and they send a new series. Disk 1 of 4 is 4 again. HP called once again, spent an hour trying to explain to an analyst in support in India. Finally, he agrees to send another set of disk. Low and behold the same thing. I don't know what to do at this point. HP does not recognize that they have a bad batch of cdroms of recovery. If that's important here is the disc number and generate the code.

Well, it's almost 16 h 00 PST and no case manager called again as promised. It has been 24 hours. I am very disappointed with HP for the moment. I believe that it is time to call my credit card company and explain the situation to them. Maybe they can dispute the charges and get a refund. I can say with certainty that this is the last HP product I will ever buy.

Called HP sales, they are ready to ship me a new system in Exchange for an extra $ 50. WTH? !! SO, I asked to return the system and make. They said I passed the recorded date. The system never worked on day 1, new WTH? !! Finally, they agreed to return for a refund system. FedEX is picking up the system today. My HP customer service God has really gone downhill. • Dimension E310 with RAID controller bad hard drive or bad

I have an E310 with DataSafe (two disks Seagate 160 GB in RAID 1).  The other day, the RAID software reported a failed drive.  Left as is one night or more.  The next morning, the machine has rebooted with no hard drive found.  The stop for the rest of the day.  That night that he started Windows, software RAID said two discs have been very well and tried to rebuild the mirror.  Suspended kept Windows and blue screening. From one of the drives and rebooted.  Now running a week on a single disc without any problems.  So, I lucky and pull the bad drive which can't seem to see the software RAID is bad?  Or the software RAID controller might be malfunctioning and having only a drive he will not RAID so no problems?  Don't want to waste money on replacement disks if the controller is the problem.  Would appreciate suggestions on how best to diagnose.

  • bad hard drive - replace vs reformat

    Hello

So reformatting should remove all bad sectors from a hard disk.

But is a device that is more likely to get more bad sectors or fail areas?

These drives should be replaced or just be reformatted?

Ive been doing dell support now for 15 years now in a major University with an exclusive contract with dell...  I thought that I always did the right thing by replacing the disk with bad sectors, but Im not confused.

When confusion arises is that a family member has recently made a purchase HP as well as "geek squad" to full support at home.  When she had problems, she called me and I called geek squad after some diagnostics to do rather then HP so they could finish the process.  In any case, the tests 'smart' in the diagnosis of HP bios (similar to the dells boot partition) showed that the drive failed a review of surface.  Yet, the geek squad said they would only talk to him through a restructuring process on the phone and that they would not replace the disc and replace the disc didn't need to be made only from a few bad sectors.

    IM now questioning myself.

I know if I have bad sectors on a hard disk and give dell the error code, I get a new disc from dell or HP...   But my question, so is the new disc really necessary?

What is the probability that a disk with bad sectors will grow more bad sectors?

Reference dell replaces the disc becase it should not be used more or simply because some areas are bad and its just good business to please customers?

Please do not reply this unless really know you the answer to that, not to speculate.

I want an answer official dell on what I should do and why disks are replaced.

    Thank you

  • Portege R500 - Bad optical drive delays the start - how to fix?

The Portege R500 has recently begun does not start. Initially there not some time later, frequently. By chance, I discovered that if I left alone for a minute or two, he will continue to start. That and the noise coming from the optical driver, made me suspect the problem was not with the HARD drive, as I feared at first, but with the optical driver.

I read in the thread below that other people had this problem. MrBear mentions * I pulled it out again and pushed on the Ribbon connecting the CD-ROM to make sure they were safe. Turned on again and he pulled up without problem! *

    Link: [http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=43300&tstart=0]

Could someone clarify in what ribbons must be treated? Only those who are visible by opening the drive? Or it is necessary to open the notebook?

Furthermore, if I booted into Windows, it stopped again, for a minute or two, while Windows is loading. With Ubuntu, there is no such problem. Perhaps Windows tries to communicate with the optical driver for some reason any.

    Tnaks for any help!
    Leonardo

    Hello!

Is your laptop still under warranty? If so I put t understand why you try to solve the problem by yourself. Go to the nearest EPA and ask a technician for help. These guys are very useful and they have the most experience on laptop repairs.

On the Toshiba site, you can search the nearest ASP:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported downloads & => find an authorized service provider

And the problem with Windows, it is difficult to tell why Windows stops for a minute. Maybe it s a software problem so disable all programs that you start n t need in msconfig.

    Good bye

  • bad hard drive

My touchsmart 600-1120 has a SMART test failed. Since hard disk failure is eminent, I'll replace it. Can I use the same hard drive that came with the computer or should I switch to a current model? I want to be sure, that it will not work.

    Hello

1 TB at 7200 RPM (or even 2 TB, do not try on this) is a good option. You can use SATA II or SATA III HDD same your machine does not turn speed SATA III. The connectors are identical.

    Kind regards.

  • Stream 14 bad performance - driver installation order

    I use a 14 - sound incredibly slow flow.

I realize it's a low-end PC range, but if I open more than 4 or 5 tabs it begins to freeze.

I tried to reinstall, maybe the drivers are not presented properly.

Is this normal for this PC?

I have this list to install, but not able to find the correct drivers, as they call the same.

What is the Chipset and ethernet called on the site - they are under another name on the site.

    Thank you

    On any PC, you must:

    1. install the chipset drivers and restart.

    2. install the graphics driver and restart.

    3. install the audio driver and restarted.

    4 install the ethernet driver.

    5. install the driver for the wireless card.

Then, you can install any other drivers you need in no particular order.

I also found I think that's the right bluetooth driver you need...

  • How to set up the new HP laptop with the bad hard drive notebook

Children a new Hp laptop in June.  The hard drive has been getting gradually stronger and is obviously about to go, with a blue error screen forcing a roll back of the computer.  I did a full backup on an external hard drive and I'm back for a replacement.  Should I make a recovery disk and reinstall from the disc when I get the new laptop, or should I just plug the external hard drive and transfer files via?  A guy at work said using the recovery disk is the way to go, because it would be to reinstall Norton and other programs, we have installed., but I thought that backup external hard drive was supposed to be the way to do this

Because you have found a replacement of mobile complete, it will be installed on the 'old' came with.

If you have installed a new programs, games etc_then Yes restore the Image would be the best way to get back it quickly. This would assume that the replacement is the same model or very similar from a Image Restore the drivers also which should match the material of the machine.

  • HP Pavilion 14-b017cl: follow-up on creating and using the USB key recovery to win 8 after replacing the bad hard drive

I have 2 hp pavillion sleekbook model 14-b017cl'. I replaced the hard drive in my son after that she doesn't have the "optimized hard drive dst test '. I used my sleekbook work to create a USB stick recovery. I followed the instructions to use the recovery to Win 8 usb drive. When I started the laptop of my son, with the USB stick inserted, I got this message.

PXE - m0f: exit pxe rom

no bootable device-insert bootdisk and press a key

Flash player Flash when I put under tension. I rebooted, you press F2, conducted an audit on the new hard drive, happened.

Later, I inserted the recovery key in my laptop (that I used to create it) and it would not initialize to top. I checked the content to the flash drive and they seemed "Chargers", so it seems to be what I expected. It seems that the recovery USB STICK will not work if my own laptop dies. What I have to buy the HP flash drive, or I'm doing something wrong.

    Hi @gretschman7,

    Thank you for your query.

I understand you are trying to perform a recovery from a USB flash drive, but you get the error "pxe - m0f: exit pxe rom.

"no bootable device-insert bootdisk and press any".  You check the recovery media on your laptop as it is the same model and it seems fine.

Looks like you may need to change the boot sequence. Here is a link to HP - performing a recovery system (Windows 8) HP computers that will help you.   Here is a link to a YouTube video which can also help:.  Performing a recovery of HP system on a laptop HP with Windows 8.
