Bandwidth sharing

Hello, y at - it a router that can automatically share the bandwidth?

We have a small company with about 10-20 connections using connection ADSL2 +.

When a person uses dropbox, everyone elses internet slows down to a crawl!

QoS functionality should be able to help to prioritize network traffic.

You may define computers using dropbox to be on low priority.

Visit this link on how QoS can be configured on our routers.

If this is not appropriate, perhaps you may need something like: feature balancing of load, which is available in our Enterprise routers.

  • Windows XP x 64 SP2 does support WPA2?

I read on a website that XP x 64 SP2 supports WPA2, but I can't select any of the PC / laptops although they were all equipped with cards "N". We have a wireless ad - hoc network and all PCs / laptops connect mode 'G' @ 54 Mbps. The network is very stable. Sometimes, the internet is a little slow, maybe because of the bandwidth shared by multiple PS and laptops, our server provide the sharing of files, printing and internet services for all PCs and laptops. We would benefit from the faster wireless network?

    Thank you for reading.

Windows XP did not support WPA2 until SP3.  There is an update, however, which will add support for WPA2 to SP2.  The update is located at the:

The "System requirements" section indicates only XP SP2, but the name of the file that is downloaded is a file 'x 86', which concludes that it would not apply to an x 64 installation.

  • Internet bandwidth economy with home sharing

    Hello

I did some quick research, but has not been able to find an answer to this...

I have an Apple TV 4 and I buy and stream iTunes movies and television on a regular basis. In an effort to save internet bandwidth, I wonder if I download movies / TV shows to my iMac and activate home sharing, will be my Apple TV then disseminate these to my iMac or will he continue to stream from the file iTunes servers?

    Thank you.

    Hi there Antonio0279,

Yes indeed you can save bandwidth by using home sharing to view media on your computers! You must go through the computers rather than the streaming app to say that iTunes and this article has more information on this topic:

    • To find shared libraries, go to the main menu, select computers, and then choose a library.
    • You can also view photos from your computer to your Apple TV: open iTunes on your computer. Then go to file > home sharing > select the Photos to share with the Apple TV.

From: use the share of the House to share content with other devices iTunes

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

  • Windows file sharing - a lot of bandwidth is consumed on ports 137, 138, 445 domain windows server 2008

    Hello

I have observed this for a few months now on my windows Server 2008 domain (all my clients are windows 7) and it drives me crazy.  My wireless nodes #1 bandwidth consumption is taken by 'Windows file shaing' on ports 137, 138, and 445.  I tried to pull the bandwidth on these ports on all of my users wireless using the wireless controller, then the claim of the user than even a small file as 100 MB ' would take hours to download.  If windows 7 OS is too talkative, I prefer to go back to windows XP?

What is the solution of my problem, I need to have my users to upload files and at the same time be fair with my bandwidth that does all my work of nodes and servers without really hard wire.  Help please.

I want to implement bandwidth shape/share srr-queue on interface

    My question is

1 - on which of your interfaces, I should implement the command and on what boxes?

    Hi Asus,

Here's my recommendation & given you some post as well to understand the logic behind it for reference.

    Switch-Switch: Trust DSCP

Switch-AP: Trust DSCP (if APs are local mode & switch port is configured as access ports)

Switch-AP: Trust CoS (if your APs are in local switching FlexConnect mode & switch port is configured as a Trunk Port)

also examine the underside as well.

Switch - VoIP: Trust CoS (with trust cisco-phone device)

    Switch - WLC: Trust CoS

    http://mrncciew.com/2013/02/24/best-practice-QoS-config/

SRR orders must configure all interfaces with the priority queue if you want to do the voice traffic prioratization (DSCP EF traffic).

  • I need help, bandwidth management

To our offices there are two that IT guys me and Jay. I use a desktop PC and Jay use a laptop. We have a T3 line connected to a Linksys WRV210, which is updated to the latest firmware and a small staff with about 8 total workstations. I started noticing that I had problems downloading files from the internet. It would take sometimes 30 minutes to download a driver of 5 MB file. Come back after lunch that the same file would download in 3 minutes. Also during certain times of the day, I could do a bandwidth test and it can appear at the top and then later it would be slower than dial-up.

A common event, that I started collecting was the absence of Jay. When he would leave the office (and usually take his laptop with him). The internet was very good. However, almost immediately after his internet return would come to a crawl. I asked him if he downloads nothing thinking maybe that was the issue. Of course, he said that it was not and that the internet was going well on his computer.

Then one day when I walked by his Office I saw Limewire on his computer (a file sharing program). I'm sure that now that it's the source of our problem of bandwidth. I want to be able to block or to allocate at least how much bandwidth gets used for things such as file-sharing programs. The hardest part is we are not a matter of level business and therefore cannot afford to devices which cost thousands of dollars. Add in the fact that file-sharing programs are known to be difficult to manage without talking to stop. Can someone please recommend a way to control or prevent Jay kill our bandwidth? Keep in mind that it is not the average user and is a very clever technique. I wish I had a way to slow down its file-sharing rather than blocking all together, but if this is the best option, so that's ok also.

Hi techstorm, these products are currently handled by the Cisco Small Business Support Community.

  • How can I limit the bandwidth for endpoint on the router from 1921 to mitigate impacts traffic bittorrent reviews?

We have implemented an independent network for our wireless comments. It's an ADSL modem, enter a 1921 Cisco. I setup NAT and DHCP on the router and it is only accessible through the wireless connection. We have a connection 50Mbps and about 250 devices connected to it. Some of them use bittorrent and other file-sharing software to quickly eat bandwidth.

Since the torrent software is adjustable to any port and cannot be blocked like this, I was wondering if there is a way to limit the bandwidth available to each device connection mitigate this.

I put this in the Group WAN because it seemed appropriate as it performs the external connection. I know that the argument could be made for LAN, because it connects only within the corporate building and not to one of our service centers.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi John,.

I don't see anything wrong to apply a basic qos strategy, rank traffic using nbar to match with the bittorrent Protocol and other similar protocols. And then just Butterfly traffic down using a map policy.

  • Cisco-AIR-SAP3702I-A-K9, max and the degradation of bandwidth users?

    Hello

Sorry if somone is asked this question before, but I was unable to find the answer or by mail.

    So here's the intro:

    Symthom:

I installed and config with a 1240 AP G base still running the office to provide wireless connectivy, but users complain its slow.

Note: I went to check the PC users and a simple website with some pictures or even to test the connection speed, it is so slow

    Action:

I changed the AP with a new AIR-SAP3702I-A-K9, just basically, I copied and pasted the config by applying appropriate measures, like changing the fastethernet gigaethernet, etc..

It has improved a little, but I followed the PA and there are 3 SSID. each SSID was like around 6 users, for a total of 18 users.

    Results:

Sound still give the same results, he suddenly became so slow but sometimes its execution by the customer well, but relatively slow always.

    ******************************************************************************************************************************************************

Additional information and troubleshooting of the measures taken:

We have 100 Mbit/s, so its quite a lot of bandwidth and we use even to an all-time high of the day around 35Mbps. I went to test my PC local, changed to vlan and use the same vlan as the SSID to establish a speed test and I got about 98 MB/s and ping results is 2ms.

So that tells me that it is not the internet connection I have download file size of 2 GB in a couple of minutes cable using the same subnet, but in the wireless, it says it will take 2 hours to download a file of 200 MB in size.

I know that it is a shared, but I need more information that I'm not an expert in configuration or give a good explanation as to why the wireless is so slow.

I'm always conflicted with my classmates because they say that it is the access point, and that I should try only on PC wireless on the AP and check the results of the bandwidth.

They say I should get 100 Mbps

    ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

    Help in the following:

Who can tell me what is the maximum number of clients by this type of device (3700 AP series) or recommended?

Can what kind of measures I take to reduce this problem?

Who can tell me what is the bandwidth usage max for this AP?

They are correct, as if the AP with a connected users, should get the same huge amount of bandwidth or would be less?

Is it true that if a user is streaming and others want to suft normally, it will reduce the bandwidth?

What is the bandwidth max an AP can use or by customer taking into account that we have 100 Mbps?

Location: it's just a simple room with the inside AP, nothing special.

I've included the AP basic config. Any additional info, please let me know,

Here is the test that I made using the local wired in the same subnet as the SSID and I get good bandwidth.

    Thank you very much!

    Hi Alex,

    1. first of all, a rule, you can use 25 users in a single (). If there is a normal traffic such as e-mail...).

    First troubleshooting:

you use wpa version 1 for all SSID. You must use WPA version 2 to get 802.11n rates (Higher).

So I'm changing your configuration, please check.

    • What is the bandwidth of the link between the sites?
    • What other traffic flows on the links at the same time (a lot / no)?

  • SX20 and sharing of presentations

    Hi all

I have a few questions about how the SX20 sharing presentations - the installation program will be as follows:-2 offices of each with the following:

Installed SX20 and a single screen

WAN is tbd based on the required BW

With a video call in progress, when a presentation is launched for a while, this effect may have a split two showing - what is the end of the screen with the video and the presentation receive?

Can the end manipulate their display (they receive 2 video stream), or is it a single video stream based on what sends the originating end?

What is the requirement of BW coming out at the end of starting (it is the sum of the video and the presentation of the flow)?

    Thank you!

End receives two separate video streams, and you should be able to switch between different layouts on far - end to change the on-screen display.

Bandwidth call will be always lower than the default bandwidth allocated by placing the call. When the presentation is shared, unit automatically adjusts the bandwidth and the proportion in which the bandwidth gets divided between the presentation and the main power is defined by the configuration. By default, it is 5:5 (1:1).

    Hope that answers your query.

  • Bandwidth configuration Expressway

    Hello

Can someone let me know to change the bandwidth on Hwy C and E server configuration.

This will affect the quality of B2B video calling and Conference I endpoints MX800, DX 80, EX80 and C60.

I also have the TMS, is it also requires change bandwidth on MSDS.

The conductor, I configured HD for the teleconference scheduled.

Bandwidth restrictions: the speed of maximum Session for video calls on the default region on Cisco Unified Communications Manager is 384 kbit/s by default. The bandwidth by default call on Highway-C is also 384 kbit/s by default. These settings may be too low to provide the quality expected video for the DX series.

    http://www.Cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/TD/docs/voice_ip_comm/Expressway/Admin _...

    Kind regards

    RACLOT

    Hi r.,.

Cucm point of view, it is a function of the parameters of the region. As explained with examples in the SRND

When a video call is established between two video end points, audio and video streams are established and the bandwidth is deducted for the negotiated rate. Unified CM uses regions to determine the maximum bit rate for the call. For example, with a Cisco TelePresence EX90 system to higher detail of 1080 p at 30 frames per second (fps), the rate negotiated between regions would have set at 6.5 Mbps. EX90s used in this scenario would be on average about 6.1 MB/s for the session. When endpoints start the presentation during the sharing session, BFCP is negotiated between the two ends and a video stream is activated at 5 fps or 30 fps, depending on the endpoint configuration. In this case, endpoints are butterfly to the bottom of their main video stream to include the video presentation so that the entire session use more than the allocated 6.5 Mbps throughput. Thus, the average bandwidth consumption remains the same with or without presentation sharing.

Immersive Telepresence and desktop settings such as the Cisco TelePresence system 500, 1000, 3000, and TX9000 Series, who are negotiating a call between them work a little differently in the sense that the video of presentation of sharing is additional bandwidth beyond what is allocated for the main video session, and so it is not deducted from the Enhanced location CAC.

    More details are given here

    http://www.Cisco.com/c/en/us/TD/docs/voice_ip_comm/CUCM/srnd/collab09/CL...

In addition, as stated in the previous post "bandwidth restrictions put in place by the call control infrastructure will be replace this parameter.", it means that for the endpoints registered with cucm cucm parameter will prevail.

  • VMware Vsphere HA (problem of storage in common) and problem of band network bandwidth

    Hi all

I am setting up VMware VSphere HA on ESXI 6.0

I have 5 hosts running, each host has 2 management networks main network 1 vMotion and 1 network card for balancing with the management network. (each NIC 1Gbit uplink)

I also attached to each card a FC (Fiber Channel) connected to HP 3PAR storage.

each host have 1 TB or 2 TB Fiber Channel-attached storage.

When I was setting up the AP he stated that he did not have any shared how storage can I allow other hosts to see each store data as a shared storage. NB: when I go vsphere client to web I see all the storage of each host.

I also want to allow FT on a virtual machine, I have also a problem of bandwidth insuffisent or something. .

also, I enabled fault tolerance on each NIC attached to the host.

also another question: should I export volumes (LUNS) to all hosts in the AP? (in fact I exported each volume to each host separately) for example:

    Volume 1: HP3PAR_ESX1 exported to HOST ESX1

Volume 2: HP3PAR_ESX2 exported to the ESX2 HOST

    Volume 3: HP3PAR_ESX3 exported to ESX3 HOST

    .. .etc

can you me clear on this issue or guide me to where I can solve these problems please.

When I try to activate the FT on the VM I the following warning attached

This message was edited by: coolirc attached image FT problem

There are memory FT requirements compatible VM is through two virtual, primary and secondary computers. so it will consume the same amount of resources of both ESXi hosts.

VM with 10 GB of RAM allocation, turn on FT booking VM is now 10 GB RAM, so 10 GB + VMkernel consumption General host running primary VM and same amount of the host that is running with secondary VM. on top of this admission control in support of the failures of host we are going to tolerate so say primary VM host fails, then secondary VM becomes the new primary and triggers a new high school to be created and powered in one of the other host survivor in your HA cluster but which will be successful only when you have sufficient resources available to satisfy a reservation.

your source host has 16 GB of RAM and one of the destination host also got 16 GB of RAM, so if you try to activate pi after disabling admission control on your cluster policy, I think that it should allow you to activate FT without errors. [if it still does not work so if possible, turn off all other virtual machines for free resources or to try to reduce their reservation manually if they are running with a reservation and try again.]

with admission control, the necessary resources would be even higher.

screenshot of Cluster summary reports that you have 4 guests in it and the memory resources available about 30 GB to 60 GB total memory. But isn't always the right figure, if you go to the monitor-> book resources, is where you will find actual "ready reserve", it's the right amount of reserve memory that you will be able to use across several virtual machines, you run in your cluster.

I tried 2 vCPU vm FT in vSphere 6, works very well, but never tried with Hardware version 8, in your case, your virtual machine is hardware version 8, although I'm not sure if it is mandatory to have the hardware version 11 VM for FT so ideally it should work, but virtual hardware version if possible vm upgraded to 11.

  • File sharing and replication, some questions

    Hi guys.

    First of all, my sistem

A vsphere cluster 5.1, with 7 guest esxi with a shared storage (HDS).

So I have a few machines virtual replication to an external site, with a cluster of vsphere 5.1 with 3 esxi host. But a bad broadband bandwidth beetween the two sites.

There is one machine virtual replication with several activities of memory, and I will not reproduce his memory.

I read this article and says that isolated swap file in a different data store and not replicate this data store.

    http://www.VMware.com/files/PDF/Techpaper/srm5-perf.PDF

    (see fig 19).

but I have a few questions:

-Store data file must be shared or a different data store peer esxi host?

    -Vmotion host is not affected?

-Same datastore must exist in both groups?

    -Impact on other virtual machines?

    Thank you

    Hello

Under normal circumstances, you should store the swap files in the same data store than the other files of the virtual machine. However, you need to prevent replication of swap files to avoid excessive consumption of band network bandwidth. In addition, certain providers of storage is recommended that you do not replicate files to Exchange. Only to prevent the replication of swap files if it is absolutely necessary.

If you use a replicated data store to Exchange files, you must create a data store replicated for all recovery sites and clusters protected both the protégé. The replicated data store should be visible to all the hosts in the cluster, or vMotion will not work.

It does not affect the other VM.

  • bandwidth upstream req to run Acrobat Connect Pro video live w

Is 3mbps enough bandwidth to run Adobe Acrobat Connect Pro meetings for 6 to 12 participants upstream video live w?

Here's the technical guide of 9 Connect. Average bandwidth consumption are listed on the 2nd to the last page. http://www.Realeyes.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/Adobe-Connect-9-technical-guide.PDF

Assuming that the higher quality settings each user should around a bandwidth above 500 Kbps. other things to consider is if they are broadcasting audio VoIP (44 Kbps) and for sharing their screen 200 + Kbps. So, I guess that upstream 3 Mbps connection will not suffice to attend a Connect meeting.

However, you can consider that approval can be saturated quickly with live video. Yet once again, assuming that the quality setting more high (which means that you can grant down and make more reasonable numbers) with 6 participants meeting all their video live broadcasting would require 500 kbps upstream and 2.5 Mbit/s downstream. A meeting with 12 would require 500 kbps upstream and 5.5 mbps downstream.

  • Delay to connect when the screen is shared by the instructor teaches us how to use a program.

Our online courses / school to connect graphic design use Adobe everything connection wise is green. When showing screen and trying to learn adobe photoshop or illustrator. everything is shifted or delayed. Do not see what selections are etc... What's the deal?

Screen sharing can be the greatest demand for bandwidth. Most screen sharing applications have a delay, but you can get it down to almost nothing. The biggest thing you can do to help is to reduce the resolution of your screen. Sharing a 1920 X 1080 image (or more) is a huge image to share, especially when it is constantly evolving. In addition, an image that large is undergoing a shoddy hit when recorded in the sharing on the screens of the participants module. Try sharing the screen with 1280 X 960 and see how it changes your experience, both in the latency reduction and quality improvement.

Think of it this way. A picture of 1920 X 1080 has 2 073 and 600 pixels of information it has to go for everything everyone in the room. An image of 1280 X 960 a 1 228 and 800 pixels. Which generates a little more than a 40 percent reduction in the information which must be transmitted to all the world in the room. With a bit of testing, you can find a screen resolution that will give you the quality you want with little or no delay in the dissemination of the screen. \

You can also reduce the quality of the part of the screen, with Photoshop and Illustrator of teaching may not be worth going to the meeting > preferences > screen share. There are four options of varying quality, test them to see which option best optimizes the quality and bandwidth demand.

If you are still curious about what bandwidth you use, you can click on the Green connection indicator and it will give you your latency and upward and down bandwidth requirements.
