BASIC WINDOWS 7

MY PC CAN'T GET NEW UPDATES AUTOMATICALLY.

Hi Harry,.

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I imagine the inconvenience that you are experiencing and will certainly help you in the right direction to solve the problem. However, I would be grateful if you could answer a few questions to refine the question in order to provide you with better assistance.

  1. Have you made changes on the computer before this problem?
  2. Have you tried the troubleshooting steps to diagnose this problem?

The question may arise if the Windows downloaded update packages are corrupt. So, I would suggest trying the following steps and check if the problem persists.

Method 1: Run the Windows Update troubleshooting tool and check if that helps.

Open the Windows Update troubleshooting tool

If the problem persists, try the following method.

Method 2: See the additional steps provided later carefully and check if that helps.

You cannot install updates in Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2

    There is no Windows Vista downloads available from Microsoft.

    You can contact Acer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

    They should do this for a small fee.

  • Error when you try to add a basic Windows Vista Home Edition user account password.

    I would like to add a password to secure my PC a little more by doing the following:
    AutoScan (Vista Orb) > Control Panel > user accounts > create a password for your account
    I enter a password to 10 characters. I tried more or less characters, a mixture of uppercase and lowercase letters and numbers etc, but everything I try I get the following message:

    "The password you entered does not meet the password policy requirements. Check the minimum password length, password complexity and password history requirements"

    I am running Vista Home Basic.

    I checked the Windows updates are all to date.

    I tried to create a new user account and create a password for the new account (both of my main user account and the new user account) and I get the same message.

    I also activated the 'Administrator' account (cmd > net user administrator / Active: Yes) and tried to use the administrator account to create a password and it does not work either!

    I ran Microsoft Security Essentials software, choose scan "Full". The software found no viruses or malware on my computer, but he did put in quarantine RealVNC (software remote access we use occasionally to work).

    I have created a screenshots of system information (to show which operating system I use), the dialogue 'create password for your account' (to show that I am logged on as administrator and to make sure that I do not have the process wrong--always possible!) and the error message "user account control panel.

    I also took a screenshot of the thing that MSE found after analysis is complete on my system.

  • Need for basic Windows Vista Home Edition recovery media

    I lost my windows vista home basic DVD. I have my key windows vista with me. can I get a duplicate dvd or can I use another dvd with my cd key?

    Read the info below re borrow a Vista DVD.

    Vista recovery media obtain and/or use the Partition Recovery Vista on your computer to the factory settings .

    There is no Vista free download legal available.

    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
    See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
    Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...
    Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Also ask them if it is possible to do the recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

    They will tell you how to do this.

    Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

  • Vista Basic - Windows error recovery

    My friend bought a Toshiba Satellite L305 S5931 at a Best Buy in California, which didn't come with the installation program, startup or recovery disks.

    Last week his system froze, he forced closed by holding the power button.  When it rebooted the laptop it light, but it happened for advanced, Boot Options because the system has been shut down improperly.

    Now, after you choose to start Windows normally, the system just went to a white soft blue screen, and nothing happened.  He tried Safe Mode, and it is same thing.  Infact, every available option gave the same results.

    I'm down to help out...  Rebooted the system, while holding down the number '0' key to get the Windows Recovery Option.  Unfortanetly this system doesn't have the restore files installed on the hard drive.  He asks the Windows Setup disc be inserted, in order to reach your computer repair.  However, as I have mentionted in the first paragraph of the laptop did not come with installation disk.

    Microsoft offers a Vista the weight client to download the system recovery software?  Help, please

    You can create this disk from startup repair yourself:

    Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

  • change serial number key to Windows 7 Home Basic Windows 7 pro

    How to change serial number key to Windows 7 pro to Home Basic to Windows 7 without loss all files and personal data?

    You must clean reinstall Windows 7

    He was a popular workaround to versions of change , but has not been working lately, so it may have been prevented.  But you need to back up your files, because the files should always be supported against failure hard drive if you care for them at all, and especially during the repair or reinstall operations.  So if you do this, you might as well do the Reinstall much higher.

    Stick with the steps, tools and methods in the wiki of blue link and you will have a perfect installation that will stay that way as long as you do.

    Hey all,.

    I recently came across a strange problem to have access to various programs and features on my PC; and hope that someone may be able to offer a solution. While I went through several forums discussing related topics... all possible solutions have become a dead-end.

    To paint a picture, here's the gist of what I experienced:

    Recently, I went on my computer and delete a backup that Norton antivirus 360 automatically (it saved under normal program files backup which was not helpful for me). It was not long to realize that this backup service used the majority of my automated C drive and was not necessary. It seems that in the process of removal of this backup folder, I managed to effectively reduce my access to the system to zero. I can access basic things (e.g. Chrome, word processing, etc.); but 99% of the features under admin settings all the way down to access my camera receives an access denied error message.

    I tried to manually edit privileges as mentioned on other blogs avancΘs and using edit (admin) to change things, but there is blocking me anyway.  I thought to use the registry editor - but I'm blocked from the use of the program as well.   Although the Admin, it seems no make the difference. I have the feeling that when I was messing around with deletion of files of Norton I can have screwed things up. I've basically tried to conserve space and in the process to remove a few accounts that I don't think I needed; and changed a few settings Admin - the things that I've done quickly without thinking.

    If there are those who think that they have a solution to my problem, I would be very grateful and open to suggestions at this point.

  • Gw not compiled basic Windows 7 XP mode

    I want to run GW Basic programs that are not updated. They run perfectly in Windows XP.  I am now 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium.

    Iahave ordered the software to upgrade my Windows 7 Premium to Ultimate.  If I then add XP Mode, I can run these programs?

    If they run in XP, they run in XP Mode.

    Never heard of a compiled program from GWBasic.

  • Upgrade to Windows 7 family basic Windows 7 Ultimate will remove my files?

    upgrade windows 7 Home Basic to windows 7 Ultimate edition will delete my files?

    If you are using Anytime Upgrade, it should not.

    If the license for Windows 7 Ultimate, you have access to is a retail version update or complete, you can use the product key and the Express upgrade from Windows 7 Home Basic to Windows 7 Ultimate. First of all, check that the edition of Windows 7, you are upgrading is already enabled (if it isn't, you will encounter complications and that you might start all by performing a clean installation). Click Start, type Anytime Upgrade, click on the option enter a key, enter the key of Windows 7 Ultimate edition at the request, click Next, wait while checking the key, accept the license agreement, click on upgrade, wait while the software upgrades, (it may take 10 minutes or more depending on the if updates are required) your computer restarts automatically, after the reboot, Windows 7 will notify you updating the computer, the computer will restart once more automatically and will be completed the upgrade, a window will appear notifying the upgrade was successful and your computer is ready to use, click Close, you should be upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate files the stored settings and programs.
