Behavior strange screen on my Satellite A100

Hello

I have an A100-SK8. It is 18 months old. However, a year ago, he developed a problem with the screen. About once every 2 weeks while using the PC, the top quarter of the screen suddenly develops multicolor and several veins going horizontally across the screen. If I stopped or put the PC mode 'sleep' and then turn it back on, the lines disappear.
I didn't take take it back to the retailer as I bought the PC in the Canada and live in the United Kingdom and also because it is relatively easy to 'fix' and doesn't happen often is not really bother me that much, however, it would be nice to fix it properly.

Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions? Don't you think re - install the driver the monitor it will solve?

I am posting this now, but I came across this forum recently.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Hello Dev

To be honest, it will be very interesting to see what it looks like. Anyway, it is not easy to give an accurate diagnosis, but if you use Toshiba designed really display driver, I don't think it's because of software. Some hardware, it must be related issue.

I recommend you to check if the warranty is still valid and let the service do a few tests. They have special tools to display and check the graphics card and if there is something wrong, it will be repaired. Please do not wait too long. When the warranty time will be on each repair can be quite expensive.

All you can do now is to back up your data and install the OS using a supplied recovery media and test it with the factory settings.

Good bye

  • Behavior strange screen/video Satellite Pro P100-109

I have a strange problem with my Satellite Pro (P100-109 model pspa3e 00n009du). I edge video card printing is letting me down, so if anyone has a solution so please help!

Yesterday, while working properly since I bought the machine, I had a strange video behavior. Black icon arround windows not updated correctly etc.
After a restart of the system, these problems seemed resolved, but it lasted just a view minutes.
After awhile, I got a blue screen (BCCode: ea BCP1...) BCP4:00000001 SP: 2.0) learned Internet research that his had to do with the video driver.

    Symptoms of the display:
-Vertical dotted lines shown on the screen of the bios toshiba (variety of colors)
-Loading of Windows show a few vertical lines as well
-After loading the clickable elements appear black (not titles of window - no buttons shown/rendering)
-L' screen goes black every 4 seconds
-System responds very slowly, but sometimes it seems that it works normally
    -mouse disappears
-After awhile that I get a black screen, system does not answer more.
-In windows safe mode (so do not using the nvidia drivers), the display seems to work normally

DID the next trying to solve my problem in vain:

-J' I uninstalled/removed the nvidia drivers and installed the last on the toshiba site.
-Deletion of original and installed drivers drivers Guru3D site (also used the Driverutility from the same site).
-J' I uninstalled/removed the nvidia drivers and installed the original
    -Upgrade to SP3

Uninstalling the driver (in safe mode) and so to use a generic driver only seem to work.

Anyone know how this can be resolved or are these signs that the nVidia GeForce Go 7900 has been roasted.

    Hello

    Long story. short answer...

It is really possible that your GPU chip malfunctions.

I came to this conclusion because the laptop don t symptoms occur if the graphics driver is not installed.
If the graphics card driver is installed the graphics card would go with the best performance and possibly graph questions would appear once again.

I think that you can't do anything to what might solve this problem outside to contact the ASP in your country and ask for help.

    Good luck

I searched some on this problem on the internet and think that there was a problem with the graphics card. Therefore, I tried to remove and re - install the driver (with driver on toshiba download page). However, the problem didn't end even it has been increased. After that, I formatted the computer but the problem is still ongoing. Here some information about the card:

Please help me! What is this problem? How can I solve?

    Thank you...

    Hello

have you checked if your RAM is good? I suggest do a RAM with 'memtest86' test or 'prime95' so you can be sure that your RAM or CPU is either defective or not.
And it would be useful to do a bios update to the latest version, because it is sometimes useful.

One last question: how many times did you get this error and how long your machine was fine until this error appeared the first time.
    Welcome them

Any suggestions please, I would be very grateful

It doesn't sound good. I did the BIOS update on two laptops A100 and everything was OK. Sorry, but I think that you will not be able to do anything alone. I recommend you contact the service authorized in your country as soon as possible.

  • How to Exchange screen cracked on Satellite A100-495

    Hi all

My sister gave me his Satellite A100-495 to repair broken screen. Now, I am looking for an instruction open Notepad and replace the TFT, but I can't find one?
Someone who could give me a link?
(And Yes, I know not to risk... ;-))

    KR, komo

    Dear KOMO

Please don't get me wrong but replacing the screen is quite complicated, and for that you need some manuals with accurate description how do. Unfortunately this document isn't public and you do not download.

So the question is what to do now. As Akuma has already written you can Google around and maybe find something, but you have to understand that everything you do is at your own risk. Maybe you should seek professional help. It is better to pay a little bit and it will be well and properly. No you don't have to do this a Toshiba service.

Check all possibilities and try to find the best deal.

    In any case, good luck!

  • Strange burning question on Satellite A100

    Hello!

I just stumbled upon a curious problem. When I burned a DVD with Nero, it worked fine. 2nd one worked but after the movie about 38 minutes the film just stops playing and consciously light on the DVD recorder. I have already tried Afterburner film and burned another but the two stop playing after 38 minutes (he burned them with another computer and burner: the movies worked).

But then, I noticed many errors in windows journal:
Block damaged in the device \Device\CdRom0.

And another thing I noticed: the s of DVDs were burned at 6 x, not the speed of 8 x burner for this laptop supports.

Does this mean the DVD burner is broken?

    With respect,

    Philips DVD + R 4, 5GB 1-8 speed

    Hello

In my gear, it is usually caused by a scratched or damaged cd. Try to clean it up and see if it helps. If it works fine with some discs then it s not the reader.
Some readers don t accept all media. Many CD and DVD is not compatible, and so the drive burns the files not properly on the CD or DVD.

You can see the different media for similar problems.
A little tip: in the manual, you should find a list of compatible DVD and CD. I think you should try to burn files or movies on one of the mentioned media. Maybe it will work.

  • my habit of portable full process of start-up ever since I made the last update to El Capitan, gets hung up on where the Office should appear.  Behavior strange screen turns off then flashes every 8 seconds or so still visible status bar

When this happens, you can also see a white spinning dial when the screen is flashing.  But the Bureau just never came up.  Tried the disk first aid in safemode, LANDAU of compensation running.  Now I can't even on it to open it in safe mode.   I also tried to install a new copy of El Capitan in safemode, but she got too successful for the download.   I have a macbook pro mid-2012 can't remember the speed of the processor, 16 MB of RAM.

    I suggest the following:

Try each of them in order. A test to see if the computer works properly:

    1. Reset the PRAM
    2. Reset the controller (SMC) system management
    3. Start the computer in Safe Mode, and then restart normally. It's slower than a standard home.
    4. Repair the disk by booting to the HD recovery immediately after that the chime press the command and R keys until the Utility Menu appears. Choose disk utility and click on the continue button. Select the withdrawal (usually Macintosh HD) volume entry in the list to one side.  Click first aid button in the toolbar. • Strange behavior USB Flash Drive Satellite A100-626

    Hello

I did install Windows Vista Business Edition on my Satellite A100-626 (PSAA9) following the instructions provided in the Web page of drivers.

So far, everything works as expected, except for one little (or no) question.

When I ask Vista to 'Remove hardware safely' my USB Flash drive, a Popup appears telling me to remove it. So far, so good :D

The only thing is that the flash player is not put out as could be expected and and yellow question mark appears in Device Manager.

Opening of the question mark can read what follows:

"Windows cannot use this hardware device because it has been developed to remove safely, but it has not been removed from the computer. (Code 47) To resolve this issue, disconnect the device from your computer and plug it in again. »

Following the instructions above, the light turns off, lol...

Someone else met this strange behavior? If so, any solution?

I tried a few USB flashes that run well on XP and they both do the same thing.

    Thank you, Nuno!

    Hi Nuno

It's very strange. I have the Satellite A100-504 (comes with Windows XP Home edition). Last week, I installed Vista and all the stuff followed Toshiba document instructions facilities. I use the mouse wireless, external HDD USB web cam. With the help of these external devices together I never noticed a similar behavior.

You have the same situation with all the USB ports?

  • Satellite A100 - 784 PSAANE - screen turns off automatically

    Hi friends,

I have a Toshiba Satellite A100 - 784 PSAANE with windows visa Home Basic edition.
Now for 15-20 days I am facing a strange problem. The screen of the laptop emits a sometimes (not necessarily every time) and then when the frequency increases the display turns off automatically!
Then I must Hibernate or he put laptop to sleep to find again the screen... Seriously, I don't understand the problem.

    Please help me.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Julie,.

It sounds as if something is harming your graphics driver causing the display to turn off. If the problem occurs only when you use certain applications or only started after installing a new application you may need to restore your system to a restore point before new applications have been installed. As a test, you can try to start your system in safe mode and see if the problem persists.

I also recommend that you re-install your graphics drivers to see if it improves the problem.

Other possibilities are that your graphics chip is a failure or overheating causing this problem in which case you have to return your laptop to a Service approved for the additional diagnostic agent.

My last thought is that you may have a problem with the inverter FL (the component that provides the lighting of your LCD screen). Check, when the screen turns off, if you can still see a residual image on the screen. If yes then the FL inverter is definitely at fault.

    Kind regards

  • Strange halftone colors and shadows on the Satellite A100-250

    Hi all

My Satellite A100-250 is now almost 1.5 years old. Recently, the screen goes funny; black text on white has shadows strange, degraded colors have streaks of primary color, some halftone colors seem to cross the screen.

He disappeared once simply by closing the laptop and restart, but this no longer works.

I updated the BIOS of 2.2, but it had no effect, unfortunately.
Startup Toshiba logo seems well, the Intel logo at the bottom right is however not...

Is this the beginning of the end of my screen, I need costly repairs or can I try something of my own?

    Thanks for your help.

    Great information. Thanks for that!

  • Blue screen when installing Win XP Pro on the Satellite A100-211

    Hi all.

I'm started to get really desperate here! I just bought my new Satellite A100-211 and now I want to install my own copy of Windows XP Professional (as the laptop comes with XP Home). But, when I try to boot from my Win Xp Pro CD (with no SP1 or SP2 integrated), I get a blue screen of the STOP just as the installation application reached the phase "the installation program starts Windows! The STOP message says something about a file named "pci.sys".

I don't know what the problem is or how to install XP Pro! It should be so simple! I even tried the SATA drivers from intel and load the Windows XP Pro install the program installation (F6) with a floppy, but I always get the same blue screen at the same stage of the installation.

Can someone help me please? Can someone explain how to install Win XP Pro on this laptop?

Thank you very much in advance! I'm really really freak out with this
    Octavio.

    Hello

Did you get this error message?
    "stop error 0x7E in Pci.sys".

  • Satellite A100 - display balack after replacing the LCD screen

    Hello

So I'm trying to fix a LCD on a Satellite A100. The girl I am set as said she accidentally hit the screen with his hand and became black.

When you turn on the laptop I can here windows activate, nothing is on the LCD screen. It is not the backlight, because I don't see anything on the screen at all. So I bought a replacement LCD screen and that one does not work either. Same question

I think it is the inverter, any suggestions?

    Could be the sensor cover?

    Thank you! Kyle

    Hi Kyle,.

Did you buy this new LCD screen to a service provider authorized? I ask this question because it would be interesting to know if it s a Toshiba valid a party or 3rd party a spare.

Did you check the connection of the LCD cable? There may be a link to lose or the cable itself is touched.
Theoretically, it might be the FL inverter too, but I doubt that. Otherwise, you'd see something on the screen but very dark.
