    Hello

There is nothing wrong with the hardware of the laptop but only with the BIOS!
I read a few threads on a similar BIOS problem and it seems the BIOS has to be flashed again on the special way!

It should be a message sayingPlace a maintenance disk in the drive and press on enter.
    Am I wrong?
Well, this disc of maintenance is needed to repair the BIOS and only the authorized service provider could do that!

  • Satellite 1400-103-BIOS (Block3) is damaged

Help, please. I have this laptop and all of a sudden when I open it today showed me the following message "BIOS (Block3) is damaged!
"Place the maintenance disk in the drive and press any key when ready."

I downloaded a BIOS of Toshiba and put it on a disc and portable loaded the new BIOS with success, but the message remains on the display no matter how many times I repeat the recovery procedure

    Hello

That s strange but you try to load the default settings in the BIOS? Maybe it works.
But to me it sounds like this ROM module is defective and must be replaced.

This laptop is quite old, so you could look on eBay for a second hand motherboard Exchange it by yourself.
Or contact you nearest authorized service provider. Technicians can check the laptop and fix it for you.

  • Portege 2010 - bad BIOS (block3)

    I have a portege 2010 with a bad bios
on normal startup, it goes to screen
BIOS (Block3) is damaged! (Call the repairman).

so I tried to reflash the bios in the usual way.
    do a disk with
    -----
    biosfile biofca6t.com
    chgbiosa.exe
    -----
and start either with the flashing the BIOS button (just to the left of the space bar)
or by pressing any key on-screen "block3.

It does not load the program chgbiosa.exe. who reads the bios file
    Hot flashes and it recharges
    -----
    Reading BIOS file...
Data erasure and writing the BIOS...

    ROM write successful!
    Utility finished
    -----
    Then it restarts

but unfortunately. nothing changes. He still goes to the display of block 3

so I think I can have damaged the chip of the bios on my hands.
Since the successful re-flash does nothing...

    -----------------
    NOT RECOMMENDED
So I decided to check if the chgbiosa actually do anything.
so, during the writing process, I unplugged the power.
(incomplete writing process) and I'm done with a (block 1)
damaged. An another bios update later.
and we are back to (Block3)
so it does not write in the bios
DO NOT TRY THIS: can erase the part "failsafe" of the bios
    ---------------------
so the question is. Where should I go from here.

I'm willing and able to unsolder the chip and flash also
but I don't have a bios not 'complete' user flashable part only of it since the official updates of the file...

can I order a new chip preflashed somewhere?

can I somehow totally clear the bios user box then it reflashing?

can - I somehow replace the bios (more than the standard chgbiosa way?)

can I transplanted the and of a motherboard Portege 2000
(the failsafe will start so I can flash with a bios P2010?)

I can start another tool, describing it as "chgbiosa.exe" on the floppy drive, which can be useful

can I do the smaller biosfile, so it won't need block3 (remove the logo toshiba etc.)
    from the rom file?

    Any suggestions are appreciated

This notebook is a project of the company. I am prepared to do anything...

    Hello

So many questions, and most of them must be answered by technicians. I really think you need professional help. I recommend you to call the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help.
To be honest, I don't think that you will be able to order this chip anywhere. Speak with the service.

By the way: mainboard renovated for Portege 2000/2010 with work well chip BIOS, I found on eBay for 39 euros, so if you can not do anything and BIOS repair buy new motherboard, Exchange and be happy.

Furthermore, I Portege 2000 and it's really nice laptop.

  • Satellite P300 (PSPC4E) - BIOS is damaged

I have some problems with my Toshiba Satellite P300 (PSPC4E).
The BIOS is damaged and I am trying to get it back.

I disconnected the battery, HDD and DVD.

I managed to create a USB startup disk using the USB HP and CrisDisk.
It was empty after I run it. I copied the three files into it, PHLASH16. EXE, Autoexec.bat and my laptops bios, named bios.wph (version 4.20).
CrisDisk using the required files are transferred automatically.
I tried plant key combinations, following the instructions of starting (USB->-> start button / stop power cord), such as the FN/WIN + B / F, FN/WIN + ESC.

When I boot with FN/WIN + B / F, it starts only upward 'normally', all the lights on and the screen remains black. USB is not flash or anything.
Using FN + ESC is another story, well that without LEDs light up, except for the power button.
The USB flashes, for a few seconds, and shortly after, the laptop starts to beep.
When I say beep, it really will beep, loud and clear that h * l! 1 long beep 2 short beeps, who will be permanently.

I left it for about 10-15 minutes, but nothing happened. The tones were really strong, so I stopped it.
I tried to make the combination of keys without connecting to USB, and it did the same thing, 1 long + 2 beeps.

So, I'm doing something wrong here?
Also, I wonder if it is possible to reduce the volume of the beeps.

Would be really grateful for any help I can get.

    Hello @dieselman13 ,

To get your question more exposure I suggest you post in the trade forums since it is a commercial product. You can do to commercial Forums.

Even if it is a Commercial product, I recommend to restore the default settings of the BIOS with this document by selecting the reload the default BIOS settings. This will have the BIOS check the connected equipment.

Note Remove all USB devices. Disconnect all devices of non-essential, as these can cause some problems.

Here is a document on the computer does not start.

    Thank you.

  • BIOS (Block1) damaged - Satellite Pro 6000 - WinXP

    Hello

I tried to update my BIOS from Version 1.3 to 1.6. During this process my child presses the power button. The result is: I am not able to boot the machine. It asks me for a disc of maintenance, because the BIOS (Block1) is damaged. I have no records of maintenance, only some recovery CD they don't work and there is no file *.rom on them.

So, what can I do? Thanks in advance for your answers!
    Mac

    Dear Marcus,

I think you're right, the nightmare of anyone of flashing BIOS/PHONE/CD-PLAYER/I YOU-NAME-IT she lives today. You already know everything, it's never good to get either a bad BIOS, or a loss of power during this procedure.

Every newer BIOS has a protection mechanism which means that even in the case of an incomplete process of flashing, the area responsible for in the BIOS flash for the upgrade is NEVER DELETED. This means that you can download a firmware on your BIOS even if the procedure went wrong last time.
This "flash emergency programme" will automatically launch out of the BIOS when you turn on your laptop and are looking for a *. ROM file on your floppy drive. The floppy disk does not need to be bootable, just it should include this one required file.

I guess, the required ROM file is the same .bin file, which comes with your regularly updated BIOS... just rename in the ROM of the extension, but since I can't take the risk of provide you false information, I suggest you have your laptop repaired by a Toshiba authorized service provider.

There are just TOO MANY things that can hurt, especially if it's the last 'easy' way (without equipment) to get your laptop working again after a BIOS update failed.

    Kind regards

  • Acer Aspire 5742 G died. I think the BIOS is damaged because all I get is a blank screen.

I was a heavy task on my other laptop and I wanted more RAM, so I decided out of the 4gigs of my Aspire 5742 G only to find out that this is not not a 4 × 1 GB of RAM (instead a 2x2gb DDR3). All I've done is out of RAM, I saw that it was only 2gigs and put in (nothing else, I know my way around computers quite). Then I thought to share work on the network, only to find out that my Aspire 5742 G will not start. Nothing. Not eveb the Acer logo appears. Access to the hard drive led is always off (not a single blink). Terrified. I thought it would be to display, but like I said the HARD drive light flashes once again.

So I jumped to Google. Discovered it probably a BIOS problem. So I downloaded the BIOS Acer will, comes to be welcomed with a ZIP file of gibberish. I have no idead how to use this ZIP to update my BIOS. The exe file is not good as the PC starts no and all other methods seem unlikely given the boot selection is not yet possible.

Can someone please guide me to the right maybe average to refresh my BIOS?

    Thanks in advance,

It may be almost impossible to diagnose a problem remotely, I hazard a guess and suggest that your problem has nothing to do with your BIOS.

Given your description of your actions, I would recommend you check and double-check your RAM seats. Also, make sure there is no damage to the socket. There is also the probability that static was able to destroy the RAM. You may need to try known good RAM to exclude this possibility.

It is not always possible to update a BIOS if there is a hardware problem.

Of course, I can't risk a BIOS Setup until there is absolutely no doubt that a problem does not exist elsewhere. If an update attempt fails, you might find yourself worse. In short, make sure that your RAM and the seating is 100% before looking elsewhere. Your choice of courses.

  • Screen hangs on the Satellite A30-931 - perhaps the Bios may be damaged

    Hello

Sometimes the screen of my laptop freezes and the only way to restart is to restart my laptop.
However this morning, after that my screen has crashed the resumption of hibernation, I found that I couldn't start my computer.
I was getting a blank screen which was not illuminated. DVD player responded, the fan worked and the computer was not over heating.

Finally, after several minutes of waiting, I was able to start windows. However, when the screen went white, before Windows Welcome screen appears, it crashed. Later, I was able to load windows, but the screen froze while he was always load the settings.

There is little time, I entered the bios and after 4 minutes and 25 seconds, lines and purple small flickering blocks appeared on the screen and I couldn't do anything. The bios clock gave midnight 01/01/2002, so I think he may have corrupted.

I find my bios which is 1.7 - PSA33E. However it seems to be a bios of windows installer only. Would it be possible to boot from the CD drive or should it XP is running, to make it work? I don't think I can get into XP quite a long time to execute and then Flash the bios, without the screen freezing first.

    InfoMan

    Hello

I don t think and I don t believe that the BIOS is damaged or malfunctions could

You description is sounds more like a graphics card problem.
Perhaps any other part of the motherboard could be too faulty. Who knows, we can only speculate

You said it must wait a bit until the cell phone would be lights up once more, this looks more like an overheating problem.

Usually there is no much to see the technician must check all components of the laptop. In the worst case the mobo must be replaced because the graphics card is fixed and cannot be removed separately.

But before you contact the ASP test to clean the fans of s for laptop
A jet of compressed air is a useful tool to get rid of dust and debris.

If it does not then the ASP technician you are last resort then I wish you a good luck mate
