BIOS Timer Tick Interrupt is necessary?

I have a Dell Inspiron 530 of 2007 that I replaced for primary use and have resorted to our main TV. It worked fine until a few days ago when I updated the BIOS from Dell Web site, the version 1.0.18. Since this update, the Dell splash screen is replaced by the more generic startup information, but the screen has a lot of garbage around the boot info, and it stops with the message ' no timer tick interrupt! "

Search Web has transformed several links to this problem with Dell computers and particularly this same or similar model and this particular version of the BIOS. The general consensus is to try to reset the BIOS of the motherboard and if it does not, replace the motherboard. (I tried to load a previous version of BIOS, but the system will not allow it.)

But here's the thing: when the interrupt message appears, if I press F1, the boot process continues and that the PC seems to work fine. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium with 8 GB of RAM with an Intel E6550 processor.

So I was wondering, Will Windows 7 work correctly without interruption of the hardware timer tick? Or I'm likely to encounter a problem after the PC has been running for a while?

Thanks in advance.

If it seems to work, it will probably continue to work.

However, disappointment, you have a bad BIOS (probably a blinking) issue.  And it probably means that you'll have to BE THERE whenever the machine restarts.

    Thank you.

    Bye, Ouafa

    Hello

If you just want to use Labview for logging and graphics (via Ethernet) AND that you do NOT use a CFP-real-time controller, you don't need to LabVIEW Real-time.

For example if you use OR cFP-1804-Ethernet/Serial Interface for Compact FieldPoint.

If you are using a controller real time you WILL LabVIEW Real-time.

  • Z440 - M60 BIOS - time and Date settings

We can configure the Date and time in the BIOS on a Z440 with worm M60?
If Yes, where is the option?  Sorry if this is a stupid question.

I guess I don't think it is preconfigured, but I don't know even how to check the current configuration.

EskoBomb, BIOS Z840/Z640/Z440 has many changes from previous HP workstations.  The user interface of BIOS F10 is different.  I deleted my previous answer, since it applied to the previous HP workstations.  (Sorry, I misread your original message).

BIOS Z840/Z640/Z440 has NO settings to change the time and Date.  This generation of workstations doesn't have this option.  The time and date can be set after bootinging, and then edit them in the operating system.

These BIOS settings are no longer needed.

  • BIOS time consuming HARD drive start-up

I am facing problem is that when I turn on PC takes a long time to start a car then it start loading windows XP screen. Please suggest what I do?

Make a backup of your important files while you still can!

How many hard drives you have installed?  The drives are correctly identified in BIOS?  You say that it takes "time for any boot disk", you have more than one operating system installed?

If the disks are shown correctly in the BIOS then looks like the hard drive may be faulty, or he has trouble reading sector 0.  Get a the manufacturer of hard disk drive diagnostic utility and check the health of the hard drive.

  • BIOS time / date zero when power is connected.

    Hello world

I have a N200 769 - ELG. I installed her updated the winXP SP3 and whenever I plug in or outside the laptop power plug resets the settings of date and time in the BIOS. Same operating system is installed in an old desk and nothing happens. So I'm sure that it is not bound. All the drivers are installed without problem according to a list of sequence, that I found in the forums. So I wonder if someone can provide suggestions.

    Thanks anyway...

You can check your bios battery problem, glancing at the clock in the BIOS, it resets every time that you restart? If what then generally points to the battery being defective, the failure rate of the bios battery is low, but it certainly happens from time to time.

  • Debug Event Pro - error 290 time /tick

Suddenly a project I was working (and all files auto-sauvé) could not open more giving me the following message: "Pro Debug Event - error 290 tick time.

Whenever you encounter an error, as a general rule, search the Forum to see if it's already been addressed, or to participate in the discussion:

    Error TickTime.cpp - 290 after opening a specific project. First 2014.2 CC | Windows 8.1

Also, I always convert / swallow my media to use the same format which runs natively in the body and does not conform.

Secondly, with regard to the loss of work with projects that cannot be fixed. I always save my projects of new names I'll gradually.  When I hit an issue that cannot be resolved (and sometimes I do), I reopen the previously saved project and try something else.  In fact, today, I hit an error to the stack.  It was a montage of three days, and I was on version "(projet name) _028.prproj" I just opened the previous version "... _027.prproj", repeated a few changes that I lost in '028' and made without error. • BIOS time date stamp is 1999 after update 09:30 trade released in 2001

The release of the bios date is 1999 after update 09:30 trade that is published in 30/07/2001.

Is this correct, did the job of updating the bios? If yes why it displays the old timestamp?

    Rick

    Hi slumpie

It's a very interesting question, but I really put t see any possibility to check it on the page of downloading if you n writing t which unit you have. In any case, it is possible that the date is not correct, but check the higher version number.

If you want to do the BIOS update for the use of the largest number of versions and I don t see any problems there. It will also be interesting to know why you want to update BIOS at all. Is there a serious problem with your unit?

  • How we prevent ESX to change the time of BIOS when it starts?

I have various difficulties becoming NTP is working on 2 new ESX hosts.

I tried several things, and one of the issues seems to be that ESX on startup changing time system, and thus all the following which is off LeRiz.

Is there a way I can avoid this?

I know there is a one line can be/etc/ntp.conf, something like restrict notrap noquery etc, but it shows long after starting the server.

I know what is happening because when I reboot I can look through ILO and see in the BIOS time system has changed and I have to reset it.

I'll try to re - install ESX servers and practice with it.

These are HP servers allowing the setting of the time in UTC.

I found what MAY be the best procedure for me to get the correct time zone, even though it is old:

    http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC & docType = kc & externalId = 1436 & sliceId = 1 & docTypeID = DT_KB_1_1 & dialogID = 8965316 & StateID = 0% 200% 208963389

    KB #1436

All our servers are in the State of New York, UTC is not absolutely essential for me.

  • Question about the interruptions and priming

    Hello

I had a few questions about the startup and interruptions in a virtualized environment

Assuming that, plenty of virtualization (no material assistance to virtualization of memory ).

1 initialization: in an ordinary PC, the boot process starts with the BIOS, to expansion ROM, back to the BIOS and MBR secondary boot record, then grub (is it) and finally the operating system. In a virtualized environment with VMM running directly on top of hardware (Native VMM), how is the initialization of the different process, as I understand it takes BIOS-> Expansion ROM - > BIOS-MBR-> other record secondary-> VMM-> OS--> applications >. Am I right on that?

2 breaks: VMM examines the source interruptions prior to the interruption, so in a multicore environment, assuming a 2 processor core, how the VMM decides on the kernel for which the interruption in intended, prior to shipment of the interruption. Interruptions are tag ID, said core ID?

    Thanks in advance

It is simplistic but essentially correct.  A metaphor would be a little better thinking that the hypervisor/vmm is an operating system, except that the process on this operating system are requests or comments OSes.  If the BIOS-> OPROM-> BIOS-> MBR-> hypervisor-> init process of the hypervisor-> reviews of fork () s operating systems.  This can become blurred by the design choices (for example Xen/Hyper-V init start a coded parent hard partition that makes hypercalls privileged to fork() guest OSes; ESXi init runs a very limited subset of applications directly on the hypervisor and ESX Classic is somewhere between these approaches).

There is a subtle distinction between "hypervisor" and "www."  The "hypervisor" is the operating system of single root (e.g. ESX) who interacts directly with the hardware and has access to everything; a hypervisor is not to be used to run virtual machines.  When we talk about a "hypervisor", the tendency is to describe something which is a BONE (although usually a minimal OS designed only to run virtual machines).  The "www" is the layer that allows a virtual machine run: it provides the interposition, virtualization and emulation services and can be plural (for example a vmm by guest operating system).  Architecture of VMware deal with these two separate components, while most other virtualization platforms merge the two.

Strictly speaking, the interruption is not transmitted to a guest operating system - receives the hypervisor (or rather the VMM it transmits to the hypervisor), the hypervisor drivers interpret the interruption (for example reading package of NIC, I/O process of HBA, the timer tick completion), then after a new appropriate break in the guest OS.

  • Pavilion x 2 10-n155sa: bios update does not install

HP Support Assistant on a new Pavilion x 2 detachable (10-n155sa) said that the needs of the (Doritos 2.0) bios updated. He is currently F04 and offered new is F06.

I accept the option of automatic update and it downloads etc and to sit down again 'installation' for too long. The PC is not suspended and the update can be cancelled OK, to keep the laptop on F04. It seems not really 'out' at all and immediately cancels the installation (I expected to take a long time to regularize).

The laptop is running. I tried several times now and just on the installation screen.

Someone at - it ideas? Is there a problem with this update? Any alternative to the automated mechanism?

    Thank you

    KB10

    Hello KB10,.

You try to update the bios through the HP Support assistant or you download the file directly on the site of HP?

    IF not, I'll try later.

    Here's the direct link... SP73945.exe

But in all reality, If it's not broken don't fix it. IF you don't have problems with the bios, then do not update!

BIOS update are a different animal than updating a driver. If something goes wrong, you have enabled your system in a brick.

And the HP Support assistant says you need to update the bios is not because its necessary. Don't do that if its absolutely need.

    But good luck anyway.

  • Satellite L450D PSLY5E freeze during the BIOS update - now does not turn on

    Hi guys,.

I have a Satellite L450D. I recently tried (unfortunately) update the BIOS after a clean installation, because the FN key no longer working to bring up the toolbar.

Winphlash program froze near the end and the system remained frozen for a good half-hour. The only way out was to remove the battery (as I know in any case).

Now, the system will light with battery in or out and plugged in. I guess I've damaged the hard drive or the card mother or something.

Is it possible to fix? Or is it?

Thank you very much for your help.

BTW - I know now not to update the BIOS unless it is ABSOLUTELY necessary and well advised.

    Joey

    > I guess I've damaged the hard drive or the card mother or something.

The disk HARD isn t damage but the Rom module where the BIOS is stored was not flashed properly.
I guess that this happened because the flash procedure was interrupted.

I'm not sure if this can be fixed perhaps the service guy could flash the ROM module with special disc of crisis of the BIOS.

    I keep fingers crossed
