BlackBerry smartphone WiFi on 8320?

Could someone help me to set up WiFi on my Blackberry Curve 8320? I don't have the Internet plan, but a friend told me that I could always use WiFi if I were in a range of WiFi. Is this true? I think I have everything set to the top (I went to manage the connections, WiFi, digitalised networks, running and put in my WEP for my home wireless). He says that it is connected with a couple of bars.  However, when I go on the browser, and then on the web, it says "you are currently not registered to a pan of web2go. Click here to view plans... etc.

I'm doing it wrong? Can anyone help?

Thank you

Kate

Change it to hotspot as well

Also I was wondering because I wonder if light work wifi when I'm at work, save my data & pass their lol

    Hello

In general, BBs "prefer" WiFi network of business for services BIS data. You can always check inside the connection management > State of Services, which BIS route is average.

But you should also check inside the apps... many 3rd party applications have configuration items, inside the application, allowing you to order the application to use a data compared to another channel. What I always do is run my apps use BIS... in this way, they will follow along as BIS shifts between WiFi and my network of business data. But, if (for example) you configure an application to use only your corporate data network, while the app can avoid past well after BIS BIS to WiFi, and this app may well continue to consume data out of your network connection data carrier, even if BIS moved to WiFi.

With older OS levels, you had no choice, but to leave the "Data Services" set on "on" any channel to use, which often caused the situation described above (BIS on WiFi, but some consumption of carrier data app)... disabling the Services of data, these levels of older OS, BIS-level data for all channels off including WiFi. With the later levels of the operating system (somewhere in the OS7 range, I remember well), you can actually turn off the parameter Data Services and wireless leash... that allows BIS to still work on WiFi, but prevents any application using the data carrier network regardless of how the application is configured.

But... I'm curious... you may have about the features that only work on SmartPhones BB, yet your profile on this site says you have only a PlayBook, in which case none of this applies since the PB has no radio has WiFi and mobile only. But, you posted this in the "BOLD" of this site section, so you could guess assumes that you have a "BOLD" in addition to your PB...

    Good luck!

  • BlackBerry smartphone WiFi displayed but does not

    Hello

on my BlackBerry Curve 9320 normally I have a very good WiFi connection because my router is directly beside me. For two days, I have the problem that, when I'm on Wifi, it does not run any connection (not even the browser); on the mobile network, everything works fine. I restarted my phone several times, but the problem is still there. It's a little crazy because I got the phone only 1 months ago. Can someone help me?

    Thank you

    Philipp

Remove the battery while your phone is on, then replace it. Then restart your wireless router.

Try these two steps and post back with your results.

You can check if you are using "Hotspot Broser" as default browser?

That was my problem too when I was still with 8520.

  • BlackBerry smartphone WiFi HotSpot connection

    Dear BlackBerry community

I had my BBTorch 9800 OS6 over a year now, which is a fantastic phone that complements any work that I do, that I use my phone as a modem.

I find that sometimes I can have text, but it puts pressure on connection cards, when connected to the PC.

I tried to find an app BB which contains a WiFi Hotspot, a connector where I don't have to put pressure of the components of my PC and phone BB.

I understand the 9810 Torch carries this standard application, this application can be installed on the Torch 9800 but also found our BlackBerry App World.

Any info on this subject will be much appreciated.

    Yours Sincerely

    JTV

  • BlackBerry smartphone Wifi vs BIS

    Hello
I just wanted to know if I'm in a WiFi area with my Active BIS, which service my BB Bold 9930 phone will use for the streaming media on the internet.

Is there a way to define the connection preferred WiFi in Bold 9930?

It uses WiFi.  If the blackberry symbol next to the WiFi icon, then this means that WiFi usage for blackberry services.

More confirmation: from the home screen, to lower your manage connections window.  Choose the status of the service and your BIS should say WiFi.

  • BlackBerry smartphone Wifi minus sign?

I recently bought a blackberry curve 9300. And it works fine but when I got home. I tried to connect to my home wifi. It is connected, but it won't work. It shows a sign less instead of a check mark. What should I do?

the white hash mark (-) indicates that you ARE connected to the WiFi router.

the green check or the check box indicates you are ALSO connected via WiFi to the BlackBerry Internet Service plan.

You have BIS plan on your account data?

What is your operating system loaded on your device? Look at the Options > device > about third down line starting with a "v.6.0.x.xxx", what is yours?

It's a basic application, you will need to reload your OS.

    I hope that helps you.

  • Call blackBerry Smartphones Wifi icon disappeared

I have a Bold 9900 and had wifi calls (voice of BBM) installed and working for months. Recently, my voice BBM icon has disappeared. How can I reinstall? I have to delete BBM and install again?

Hello Mac and welcome to the community of BlackBerry Support Forums.

Sorry to hear that you are having a problem with BBM.

Under Options > device > application management, which is the Version listed BBM?

When you go to www.blackberry.com/bbm on your device browser and go into install BBM, do you have a prompt to replace the same version or install a new one?

  • BlackBerry Smartphone WiFi hotspot connection does not

On a car PC, I set up a hotspot for mobile devices - any device can connect to WiFi it provides and use it to access the sites. However, one of our customers told us that he cannot use it with Blackberry.

Feature, we need is the site access, no need to UMA or any other extra features specific to BB.

First problem we had was that BB could not associate with hotspot at all. Which is now fixed by disabling "wmm" HotSpot.

Problem that remains open is to access Web sites. The browser is set to "access point mode", but whenever I get the url into a browser that the request times out. The entry door is correct, DNS-server (gateway itself) is also correct, assigned IP address correct.

I dug into it, and I see that most DNS queries reach the hotspot at all. When I try DNS utility test results are the same - most DNS queries are not reach hotspot. I can see BB exchanging ARP "who has" APR "is to" packages and that's it.

Ping to my hotspot works when I chose "WiFi-bridge" (However it does only once after the requests timeout later ~ 1600ms,). When I try to ping via IP any request time-out (but I see in the newspapers that ping reached my hotspot and it responds immediately).

Config Hotspot is atheros wifi card (2413) based in ap mode driver is 2.6.38 ath5k kernel. I use hostapd to create network wifi and dnsmasq as DHCP/DNS server.

I saw this thread (http://forums.pinstack.com/f156/hostap_madwifi_ng_atheros_and_w004_error-76140/ ), but changing anything in the BB is not an option (it should work with any blackberry). Also change your DNS address is not an option.

Confirmed that it is a problem of ath5k driver. Work (at least partially with driver madwifi).

  • BlackBerry Smartphones new Curve 8320 with MTN (stupid) - so fraustrating

    Bought myself a 8320 today

1.) my provider does not allow me to use my own e-mail client; but when asked at the point of purchase said we could. It is shocking and a very disappointing experience with Blackberry. [any available alternative work?]

2.) I decided to use gmail. the gmail app loads but does not - it cannot connect it is apparently a problem with the latest blackberry 4.6? [all known fixes for this]

(3.) I can't seem to change the default browser, or point to the homepage of the default browser of the predefined home page (my service provider). [no clue on how to do this one is supposed to be able to choose the browser]

4.) I can not remove the background of service providers from the phone - and I did not understand how to replace by something more pleasant (similar to the blackberry default background) [it is probably a mistake to BECKY as I'm not familiar enough with the phone to change the background still]

(5.) to a friend on mine told me to buy a blackberry in the United Kingdom and avoid stupid trouble generated by MTN.

6.) it seems no cards for the South Africa using Blackberry maps? So I tried google maps I used easily on my previous phone.

Great looking phone, really happy with the comments - shame about the approach by the service provider. Until I solved these problems I am stuck using my old Samsung to read mail using gmail and use gmaps.

Your comments have saved me some time and newbie inconvenience. GREEN entre-clavier-and-user problem. The only reason why I decided to go with gmail instead of using the convenience of the push service (the original rational behind getting the phone anyway) has been boredom of additional costs ($10 p/m) when combined with the service provider, forcing me to use the phone with specific parameters - the nature of the BIS service has not clarified for me that this practice was an extra cost and could not be established with another supplier of services separate from the cell phone provider itself was boring. Anyway, this phone is way from my old phone - just would have had a better experience of initialization.

  • BlackBerry smartphone Wifi connection not - could not associate with network

Just upgraded to a Pearl to curve and al suddenly feel this seemingly common problem.

Sorry if this is a new topic on an old topic but I'm at the end of my home trying to find a solution.

To this day, I have tried

    Manual installation

    Static IP address

    Restoration of phone

    Removing the battery

    Remove the SIM card

    Restoration of router

So, today and only for purposes of research went to McDonald's for lunch and I tried their WiFi (had a quarter of a book with cheese with sprite for those interested) and just like back home, connects first time then drops then "impossible to associate with the network.

I'm on Orange with unlimited internet Blackberry to add on and everything worked fine with my Pearl.

Tried tech Orange, but good... .the less said the better there.

Any assistance received with gratitude and you will deal with a McD if you sort the problem for me

    Sorted.

  • BlackBerry Smartphone Wifi and Email Setup

    Hi all

I recently bought a unlocked BB Bold 9000 in the United States.  I am currently in Hong Kong where I use a local SIM card for my phone.

During the initial installation, I came across two issues:

1 email to "create or add an email address" option was not available, and

    2. Wifi: It's what's really irking me.  WiFi means I should be able to connect to any hotspot, the free space, the network that I have access, regardless of my plan, correct?  I feel I have tried everything, but when I go to the browser, he repeats to me "you are not currently in an area that can handle the communication of data, therefore, the browser may not retrieve all of the web pages".

I'm really frustrated by the wifi configuration, so if someone could help me, I would appreciate it.  My friends with IPhones and the basic sim cards browse far and I have purposely NOT buy an iphone.  Hope we can prove them wrong.  Thank you!

  • BlackBerry smartphone WiFi help for a new user

    Hello

I'm all new to Blackberry and have had the beautiful curve for 3 days (it is always brilliant)!

I managed to synchronize with the desktop computer, to connect to my car for handfree Bluetooth, but I can't connect to my router wireless BT Home Hub for some reason any.

I followed the instructions and the phone displays the connection and says it is connected but does not work.  If I go on manage connections, it shows the connection (I called him 'home') with a nice green icon showing the phone can see wifi but there is a black box in front of it with a dash of white.

    Anyone got any ideas?

I'm not via enterprise server yet (need to upgrade to Lotus notes apparently).  I phoned also support technique of Vodafone that says I need a subscription to use wifi which, when I questioned our vodafone business account manager he said was silly.  But still no wifi.

There is also a wifi logo top right of my screen which shows is gray and black, that mean anything?

    Thanks much for any help.

Tim (a bit frustrated but still in love with my curve).

It's settled.  Apparently, vodafone to fix something in the number to make it work...
