BlackBerry Smartphones backup content

This may have been asked before, but what I want to know is when I do a backup of my 9810 using desktop software, which is actually saved? For example, it is a mirror image full of content including applications, or does it contain only emails, documents and photos etc? Thanks in advance.

Hello Asdic_Ping

There are several types of backup:

  • Full (all data and settings)
  • Fast (excluding e-mail)
  • Custom (only selected data)

Source: data of smartphone BlackBerry using BlackBerry Desktop Software

With a full backup, all your data of the device including applications and setting will be saved.

We hope this helps.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones backup/restore question

When you perform a backup or restore, all information on the microSD card is copied/restored?  If this is not the case, how do save you songs, photos, etc. which are on the map?  You copy right Info windows Explorer?  I'm under win7RC and have a Tour.

While I think about it, I would get a larger microSD card.  What is the best way to transfer information from the old card to the new?

Thank you in advance for a new type

The backup/restore process does not affect the media card. You can just use Windows Explorer to copy the content of the press card. I just got a new media map recently and I just copied the entire folder BlackBerry on my PC, then insert the new card, then copied the BlackBerry folder on the memory card.

When I perform a full backup using the desktop software, it load the backups by looking at my most important files (messages & insertion etc.) but I never see it back up my images that I took with the camera.

All images are stored on my media card when I use the camera on my blackberry. When you perform a save as above, these images get stored on?

Many people use SyncToy to synchronize your card (or a folder in) to your PC.

    Sync is backup difference, same.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones backup problem

I'm not able to take the new backup to my phone (BB 8820). When I want to make a back-up I have the following problem.

The fault is: "communication link failure: could not establish communication with the device.» A required application of the device is missing.

  • Lost blackBerry Smartphone Inbox content

I don't understand what happened.  Since I got my new Blackberry Curve I lost my messages in my Inbox and call log three times.  It happened when the phone was not yet used, I went to send a text and all my previous messages were gone.  Nobody knows what could have happened or it there might be something wrong with my phone because I don't find any information anywhere.  Thanks for the help!

It seems that the unit may be out of memory.

Can you check under Options | Status and take note of your free file number. Then reset the unit by removing the battery and 1 min and replace it and let the device restarts. After that he did check and see if your free file number has increased.

Also do you have a lot of third party applications on the device that you don't need? If so you can do in the Options | Advanced options | Applications and delete those you no longer need.

  • BlackBerry smartphones backup 3rd Party applications

    Hello

I tried to search this... maybe I did not put in the string to the right of the words... How should we do about backup 3rd party applications. I got the error 523 or what it is... where I basically have to reinstall everything on my phone. I can usually pull the backup of the emails/contacts/my computer but I do not know how to save my 3rd party apps specifically.

In addition, because I ask anyway... anyway is to wipe my phone completely using Desktop Manager? I heard people say that they use JL order or whatever... I am familiar with this program and I was wondering if there was a way through before DM I look for another program.

I appreciate the help in advance.

Here is a great link that provides instructions step by step on how to backup 3rd party applications (to note that you will still need to enter your licenses after for those who require licenses): http://forums.crackberry.com/f3/how-back-up-3rd-party-applications-53201/

If you just want to reinstall the OS you have on your phone, JL_CMDER is the simplest method (otherwise you must first downgrade, then you spend again).  To make it as easy as possible, all you need to do is to download the non-installateur version of JL_CMDER (it's a zip file, you can easily extract in Windows).  Run JL_CMDER and select option 4 to wipe the phone.  Follow the remaining steps and will be wiped for your operating system (your phone will be error 507 on it once it is completed successfully).

Then you can reinstall the operating system using the manager desktop or via the Loader.exe file in C:\Program Files Research In Motion\AppLoader.

It is the best way to simply reload the same OS.  But if you do not want to, and if you are able to find a downgrade to (e.g. 4.7.0.65) file, you can do the downgrade first and follow her again by the upgrade.

I hope that made sense but let me know if you need help with this.  I'll be on the forums for about over the next 45 minutes or more.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones backup and restore not working do not or am I missing something?

I installed the office mainly Manager to be able to save the info on my computer.  Only problem is when I go to back up and restore the button which allows me to back up (or restore) is not highlights, so it is not allowing me this option.  It will allow me to access all what is the 'Advanced' and 'options button' on the backup and restore window. I don't want to lose all my info again if the phone fails then please HELP!  And it took me about 10 tent before Desktop Manager loaded correctly on my computer so don't know if the problem is in the installation, but when I look at the desktop window manage it shows "disabled" and also does not allow me to choose one of the options in the top bar.  How can I activate this program?  When I tried to load the disc I got some message to be now able to run Adobe scripts so don't know if it's maybe part of the problem.

Not as inept that I thought I was.  Had to go to the Manager of the office, is go to Options in the toolbar, you click 'Connection settings' and chose USB option and detect and now everything works fine.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones backup problems

a backup made before the 4.5 update has been installed. installed the 4.5 update. restored the phone to the original backup settings, but update 4.5 was still the version of the software. everything is good. now when I try to open the back ups on my computer, it say next .ipd file is not a win32 application. have never seen this before. any ideas.

The IPD file is not readable or usable, from 'my computer', although it is not much more than a text file.

If you open Desktop Manager > restore > advanced, on the left (for computer) pane, you will see a new and the command open.

There, can you go to find the IPD file and load it?

  • BlackBerry Smartphones backup dies on the Dbase of profiles... Have already reset, what now?

    Hey everybody,

First post here.  Took a Curve 8330 for about a month now.  Recently during the backup, I started getting an error saying "Error backup databases [profiles] 4 of 6 entries retrieved"

    I already have:

    1. entered in screen forward and cleared the databases on the device.

    2. backup again, no problem.

    3. open a backup file is a few days, to restore these profile (& options) on the device

    4. backup again...  No dice, still the same problem.

So I just deleted the profliles of the device. A few days later I recreated manually one of my profiles on the phone.  Next time, I tried to backup, I got the error again.  What now?

DM is 5.0, OS is Windows XP, OS BB is 4.5.0

    Thank you!

    Ok

So I think I have this beat problem.  I found a few useful posts on another forum.  Most tell you to clear your browser's cache and cookies, then re-sync.  This didn't do it for me, and I didn't know it would be that the cache of the browser should not have anything to do with the timing of the Profiles database.

However, I did go to the advanced screen and clear data of the device.  Then I did a battery with quick pull pull.  Then I backed up once again, with no problems.  Then, I recreated my profile customized from scratch.  Now seems fine backup...  See you soon.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones backup restore

Ive never have but I know that I have in the past.

I know that I lost a little when my PC crashed and I had to restart PC to factory default.

I think that I've backed up recently but I Cant Find It?

Whence the backup of file go?

Usually in my documents, but that can vary as well by the PC OS. Best thing is to search your entire hard drive for files with the extension ipd (*.ipd)... which will show you all the backup of BB files you have.

    Best.

  • BlackBerry smartphones 'Backup Assistanmt met with a security error. Please check the application authorization"why I get this error?

And my phone lose all other functions (i.e. alarm) when this error came. It's like its offline... How can I fix it?

Normally, this has to do with the policy settings on your desktop computer. If you use a computer, you need to user or rights the administration of power for what you want to do.

If you are on your home computer, fix your settings so that you are the administrator on your computer.

What I describe is a common reason where I found that the computer will not back up the files from the phone on the hard drive.
