BlackBerry Smartphones BlackBerry Search bar-9780

Hello

I have a black berry "BOLD", 9780 and im having a problem with it. The search bar, on my home screen will not work. When I type something in and click on enter, the search bar, it's there and the green circle keeps spinning. No results come out. All my other search bars work, like the one for contacts, or when you want to find a song especially in your music list. It's just the search bar on my home screen.

Thank you

Shariq.

  • Search bar does not appear on the forums

I thought that maybe I'm going crazy... but the search bar no longer appears on the forum.  This works in other areas of the site, but not in the forums.  I tried the Fire Fox browser, I use IE8.  He began Friday last and after the reboot etc.  I still have no ability to search.

It's not you, it's lithium, which manages the forums, he lost in an update last Thursday night.

    It has been discussed here:

  • Can I get the Firefox search bar for not automatically, go to the site of the search engine I spend?

The Firefox search bar seems to have changed since the last update. I understand that things are changing constantly and get used to them, but I wonder if it is possible to change the rear bar to the way it was, or at least understand why it changed.

Basically, I used to be able to switch from search engines by choosing from the drop-down list, and would not put me right at the site of this search engine. He didn't actually bring me to the site once I hit the search button (or enter). It's quite annoying to have to remember to open a new tab before changing search engines in order to avoid sailing away from the tab that you are currently on, and it's also annoying that when you open a new tab and change the search engines, you are immediately taken to the site of this search engine. It feels like an extra step (ranging from 'the empty tab search engine page to search result' instead of 'empty tab to search result').

I know it sounds like a minor complaint, no doubt, but I'm really really curious to know why it was changed. More important, I want to know if there is a way to customize the way it was.

    Thanks for any help!

Many users have been raising this issue. I mentioned the same question in this post here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1086138

In summary, it seems that the Firefox team is not intend to bring back the ability to return to the old bar search, which was possible (but in a very biased way) in older versions of 42. For now, you can either:

    • Download module additional classic restaurateur theme to https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/?src=ss and then select the old search option
    • Go back to Firefox 42 and set the browser.search.showOneOffButtons property in Subject: config. However, with older versions poses a risk to the security that you won't have bug fixes provided with version 43
  • I can't restore the pre-FF34, same subject through search bar: config does not help.

Today, my search bar came to randomly search bar 'new' post-FF34. Despite repeatedly activating / deactivating the browser.search.showoneoffbuttons in all: config, then by restarting the browser to a dozen times, this topic stubbornly remains with the new search. Does anyone know how to do so that he can keep looking for old? Or download the about: config switches to work again?

The underlying code for the browser.search.showOneOffbuttons has been removed since Firefox 43 - there is no way to return to the range of older research.

What I've read here, this - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/ - extension restores the old regime of the search bar - but I have not tried yet, I went to ESR 38 when Firefox 41 was released.

  • How to view my search bar history

The internetz provide much information on how to clear my browsing history, search and forms. But I want the contrary: I want to display the search history, I entered in the search bar. Search suggestions work fine, I just want to see my complete list of searches during a certain period, exportable preference in a text file. Is there a way I can do?

    Try:

  • I lost the google search bar

I lost the little google search bar located on the right side. All the previous suggestions do not work.

You have removed the buttons on the Navigation toolbar by accident.

If you right click on an item to toolbar in normal mode (non-personnaliser) mode, then you can remove this item from the toolbar.

    • "Remove from toolbar" will remove this element of the Navigation toolbar and moves it to the palette to customize (Firefox '3-bar' menu button > customize)
    • "Go to the Menu" will move this point '3' dropdown menu Firefox button bar
    • "Move to the toolbar" in the "3-bar" Firefox dropdown menu button will move that point to the toolbar

You still have the Navigation bar with the visible address bar?

  • When I click on the toolbar URL or the search bar, it has a blue border. How can I get rid of this?

The blue outline around the search bars and URL when I click on them is loud. Is there a way to disable them? With the help of 40.0.2 of 10 to win.

Found a theme that does not include the blue boxes. The "Cartoon" look is no more.

  • cannot open FF, get the search bar

I uninstalled FF. When I re-installed, all I get is the logo with a search bar. How can I open FF from there? I uninstalled is because the page was too large, followed instructions to decrease the size and everything went haywire from there.

Please ignore my question above. It's a simple solution. It was just a matter of my putting my home page in the toolbar options fields. The positive side of all my frustration to get things and smoothly again, it is the page size problem that I had was resolved. I am a 74 year old, female, non - computer guru who has been able to solve all my problems PC on my own without disturbing families gurus. However, I want of course that it wouldn't take me long to do, especially when it's an obvious solution (and it usually is).

  • Search bar does not. No subject: preferences #search.

My search bar contains more search engines and by clicking on the magnifying glass provides and empty quickly. There is no topic: preferences #search more. The solution over another, similar, i.e. "uncheck Compatibility Mode" does not for me. This box is already turned off and if I check with the right Windows 8 operating system there is no change. I have already restarted Firefox.

Hi, this is probably because something on your system has crushed all providers default search in firefox. to recover it please download and reinstall firefox to https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ on top of your existing version.

Since it is a behavior often caused by adware on a system, please also run a scan complete of your different system with security tools like the free version of malwarebytes and adwcleaner.

  • Yahoo Search bar now appears on my new tabs Firefox pages

Before you answer that, I ALREADY deleted the Yahoo option toolbar already in TOOLS > OPTIONS > SEARCH box. In both upper search bar, I removed all evidence of Yahoo. Is not on this part. This is the new page/new tab coming with my 'top sites' mosaic. He changed a few days ago and I don't know why. I don't think THAT I have updated to any software, but if I did, it would have been Adobe Flash or Adobe Acrobat/Reader. When the search bar appears on the tiles, now it is YAHOO. I hate Yahoo and use Opera or Chrome, if I can't solve this problem. Someone help me find an answer. I refuse to be forced to use a search engine that does not support.

Thank you... In fact, I had an another "fix"... my computer crashed, so I had to get a new hard drive, etc. What I've been able to find out, however, even if all the settings that you have in your answer were what I had been doing before I posted, I discovered that a program to rip the DVD I bought recently had all these toolbars wicked as automatic installation with the express install option. I found those today and not controlled before screwing the system. It's a real shame when people stir this crap in the paid software programs and make sure you can not escape or uninstall them.

  • How can I remove a distracting green icon on the search bar?

Please find attached image of distracting green icon in the search bar. I saw 'elegant' installation options and editing of CSS scripts, but these make everyone feel as very complicated for a relatively simple problem; not to mention other users looking for a solution maybe not programmers, nor confident in editing scripts. This overlap of the icons is not aesthetic and constantly draws the eye to the search bar.

This is the search bar 'new '.

If you want to restore the window previously used independently to manage
search engines, you can toggle this false with a doudle click pref
on the topic: config page: browser.search.showOneOffButtons = false
You will need to close and restart Firefox to make it work properly.

  • Firefox 38 search bar limit number of available search engines.

With a screen resolution of 1920 X 1080, if more than 150 search engines are added to the search bar the more than 150 are inaccessible, as is the more shortened additional search engines search engines is usually found at the bottom of the list. They are always accessible through the options panel, but that pretty much defeats the purpose of the search bar isn't? It must be a feature or option to display more than five ranked search engines. I tried to extend the search bar, but the size looks fixed.

How about turning off the feature of 'new search bar '?
This will put you back to what it was before Firefox 34.0.

Open Subject: config (typed in the address bar)
Do a right click and toggle this false preference

    browser.search.showOneOffButtons

    Then restart Firefox.

  • I install my search bar?

I had the opportunity to choose which search engine to use, but on one of the updates the search bar disappeared. How to get it and what is the point of having several search engines available, if they are not available?

It is not likely to be a change of function due to an update of Firefox.

More likely an option custom you or some software has changed.

    Are you asking to fight the search bar on the top, you may need to drag back the range of customization. Click on the menu {(three bar icon) button then the Customize option.}

  • Search bar missing

The search bar is simply missing.

Yesterday I installed this browser. Have not tampered with it at all.

I noticed that you made so that we can not use Google as a search engine by default that is queried when you use the address bar to search for.

I recognize that you did that only because you're competing with Google on the front of the browser.

And I agree that it is the behavior of losing companies.

Back on point: the search bar is high here. And when I go to view the customization, there is nothing in search bar to slide up.

Solve the problem and tell me how to replace immediately the search bar.

    Hello

Try Firefox Safe mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily disables hardware acceleration, restores some settings and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart Firefox Safe mode in the Help menu:

    • Click the menu button

      click Help

then select restart with disabled modules.

If Firefox does not work, you can start Firefox in Mode safe as follows:

    • On Windows: Hold down the SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
    • On Mac: Hold the option key during the startup of Firefox.
    • On Linux: Exit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox-safe-mode
(you may need to specify the installation path of Firefox for example/usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start mode safe" - does NOT REFRESH!

If the problem is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps described in the section Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems to find the cause.

To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.

See also use the search bar in Firefox to change the Google search engine, etc.
