  Thanks for your advice. You are absolutely right. My mailbox has been set to activate after 15 seconds the ringer. I rang my Storm from my landline and two rings passed before the phone responded. On the third ring vibrée the storm. On the 4th ring, you could hear the ringtone. The fifth, a break in the ring. And then the sixth ring again.   1. I don't know why what is happening but reloading your operating system using BlackBerry Desktop Software should fix this. To reload your operating system, plug your phone into COMICS on your PC and click on the device in the upper part of the COMICS, and then click Backup. Once you have made a backup, click device once more but this time click on restore and select the file that you just created and load. If you had a touch screen, I'd say you're probably touch the screen which would negate the ringtone, but because your phone is not a touchscreen, this doesn't apply.

  2-call MTN for contribution to this issue. It is your operator that controls for how many time your phone rings and they can set it to go as long as 30 seconds if you ask.

  A few things to discuss... so bear with me...

  (1) contrary to others how things, RIM does not provide desktop PIM. Others force you to use their PIM and only their PIM. RIM provides a driving software that works as a bridge between your PIM and the BB. See this compatible PIM KB:

  (2) RIM provides a device switch Wizard to migrate from another SmartPhone to a BB... but only for compatible devices. See this KB:

  (3) If your old phone is not compatible with the wizard, then RIM more offers the possibility to import ASCII and CSV files. See this KB:

  • Sorry, but RIM does no research on how to get your data from your old device and in ASCII format or CSV... it is a function of your old device.

  So your choice is, IMO, to continue to use a desktop PIM for your data (and you should, IMO)... then choose a compatible PIM (from above). Then download your data from your old device and the PIM Office. Next, configure the BB to sync with the PIM:

  It should work, but many times it doesn't.  Have you tried the battery to reboot the device to burst?  You could check with Rogers and see if there is no reason it shouldn't work.

  I have a Curve 8530 and synced with my Gmail account.  About a month ago, I activated the option of password protection on my phone and now it will freeze about 3 - 4 times a week when I try to unlock the phone.

  I've not put finger on it exactly, but it seems to happen more frequently when I lock the keyboard by pressing and hold the * key and the elapsed time for a Security Timeout happening.  My screen displays a dialog box indicating "the keyboard is locked. Press the button Mute to unlock. "I press the Mute button and a black dialog box appears behind the 'keypad is locked...". "alone and everything freezes.  No button anything.  The only thing I can do is to take out the battery, replace it and wait 5 minutes to restart the phone.

  The only thing I could think about was to disable password protection, but there is now a small lock next to the option "enable" password.

  I'm a private user and do not use a company BES.  If synchronization with Gmail has the same effect as a policy of security through a BES?  And what could be the cause my phone to freeze so frequently?
