BlackBerry Smartphones Spinning hourglass and locked

Have had my Curve 8330 for about a month... and love it.  Lately he started to lock up on the desktop... with an hourglass spinning showing... no way to move the cursor... no phone reception... I removed some applications... deleted all might think... took out the battery... waited... re-installed the battery... scheduled by phone through Verizon and thought I had fixed it.  Trendy phone and it stays for the night.  Next day morning... Hourglass was back.  Went to options... then status... I don't see any total input file... but free file is 0

  • BlackBerry Curve 8330 Blackberry Smartphones: Spinning hourglass and no email

I have a Blackberry Curve 8330 (about two months) on network VerizonWireless. Yesterday, I started to see a spinning hourglass that wouldn't go away, and now I can't receive emails. (I'm not on a customer business). The signal shows 1XEV connection and I see the ' up/down' arrows flashing periodically, but still no email comes through. All except the standard five applications are closed and I tried the option "remove the battery when the unit is running and wait a few minutes before plugging it back" does not. (The hourglass stopped for a few minutes, but came back and I'm still not received my email).

Another challenge is that I use a Mac with OS X 10.4.11, not a PC based on Windows, so I don't have the software Manager to use.

Can someone give me an option before taking this thing back to the store?

    Thank you

@rmaurer: I forgot to mention the battery drain, but the mine who did as well.

The idea of 'everything back and get another' is never very satisfying for me. Especially if I have to keep doing it over and over again (like bobcawman, above), and he never really addresses the problem. If this is the case, then it seems that I bought a bad product, not only got a defective unit.

The solution for me was to back up all my data by using the Desktop Manager, then reload the operating system of the VZW website software. The process was a bit complicated, and I'm sorry, I don't remember the exact steps to share here, but there is an option on the web site for the latest version of the software (4.5 for Verizon, I think). That solved the problem for me so far. I suppose however that the real question, why what is happening with so many people. I've seen many, many messages on exactly the same thing. I wonder if it's an issue just with the previous version of the software, or something more serious with the 8330 in general operating system.

    I'll wait and see...

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Spinning hourglass

I was yesterday in a place with poor service coverage. Since I'm at home and on that area, I can't the phone to work as he did again... no matter how many times I remove the battery.  I even left it out all night last night.

Whenever I try to do something, it is delayed by the hourglass spinning. Whenever I touch the trackball, it starts to turn. It takes forever to open and work with an application.  If my computer has done this, I would it reboot.

What can I do to get the phone all better again, in addition to removing the battery?  I already cleaned the cache and used the cleaner memory too.

I don't know what else to try...

    Help!

I don't have a SIM card... and I was preparing to head to the Bank for a new phone...

Then I tried something and started to delete apps and that made it better.

So at the moment I agree about it being a memory problem...

The big test will be the next time I go to the city of Dead Zone... he had none of the clusters of small Verizon people behind me that day.

    Thanks for the help!

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Invalid email and password on blackberry 9790

I have been using everything ok through POP3 email on my blackberry for the last six months and then all of a sudden yesterday asked me to check the password that I tried to do it but the only message I get, is that my user name or password is invalid.  This is not the case, as I am with the same username and password on outlook and my Ipad and these work perfectly. Can anyone help?

We had a problem with our email on Wednesday, it is now sorted and the passwords have not been changed.

I tried the hard reset, tried to set up online service, free books works and still will not accept the good user name and the password.  It's driving me crazy!

    Thank you.

Hello and welcome to the community!

With a strong carrier network (for example, not only WiFi), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2, each should result in a message from your BB... Please wait just before moving on to the next step):

    1) register HRT

    • KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with wireless network
    • Please wait a 'registration' message reach your Messages application

    2) Remove and return Service books

    • KB05000 Remove the maintenance book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account in the BlackBerry smartphone
    • If you do not have access CMIME, continue deleting
    • KB02830 Send the directories for the BlackBerry Internet Service
    • Please wait "the Activation' Messages, one per already configured e-mail account, arrive in your Messages. If you have not already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.

    3) restart

    • With power ON, remove the hood back and remove the battery. Wait a minute, then replace the battery and cover. Power on and wait patiently through the long reboot - about 5 minutes.
    • See if things return to functioning. Like all computing devices, BB suffers from memory leaks and others... with a hard reboot is the best remedy.

I hope that will move things again for you! If not, then you should try remove and re-add your configurations for the relevant accounts. Otherwise, you should contact your mobile provider for formal support.

    Good luck!

  • BlackBerry smartphones address email and password

My Blackberry Torch was stolen recently.  Now that I got my new camera and everything seemed to work OK.  I received emails addressed to it and who is "pushed".  I tried to download an app and had my Blackberry ID need I entered.  She would not accept my new password - so I asked to reset - but the email they were supposed to be sent to my blackberry address did not!  Does anyone have ideas, what can I do now?

Oh okay Ouch, the using the blackberry.net email account is not good. These emails cannot be found or read any where, but on the BlackBerry smartphone.

Personally, I never recommend using blackberry.net for this main reason e-mail accounts.

My best suggestion is to get a gmail or yahoo account for free and create a whole new BlackberryID.

Then, call your mobile operator Orange and ask them to bring this problem to RIM level two level tech support and get your old account merged or moved to the new BlackBerryID.

Yes, it's complicated. But it's the only way I see possible... all this because of the password reset. Yuck, indeed.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones continuous hourglass

    HI -.

I've had my BB for about a month now.  Everything has been wonderful while browsing the web last night, I had suddenly an hourglass, followed by the message "a problem occurred while trying to make the page".  I closed my connections and tried again, go to the home page.  The word Blackberry appeared and the hourglass, and then followed by the message again.  So, I plugged in for the night and thought that would be nice this morning.  Well, the same thing happens.  If I go into the menu and "go to", the hourglass starts just once again and I can't do a thing in the internet browser.  My email is coming in the fine and the phone works, etc.  It seems just to have an impact on the browser.  Would you be able to help?  Is this common or is there something wrong with the unit?

I'm off to work, but will try to access this site from my computer at school to verify solutions.  You may be able to give any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Sdodge

You may be running low on memory. Although I guess it would affect all and not only your browser. Try this. Click options, click status. You write your files for free and total. Then, if you can click your browser at all. Try, then click the berry button and select options then select cache operations and click clear for each option. Then press the previous button and it will say cleaning memory. Then delete the emails of the texts that you need not also get rid of any third party DPPA you don't use. THEN remove your battery with the phone YOU. Leave for 30 seconds and put back. Let the phone restarts. 1-3 minutes is normal. Return to the options and status, then note the new numbers of free and total of the file file. Please send us these numbers and we'll go from there. Good luck.

After his contacts on the PC, I'll make sure that you have installed 4.7 DTM and go to the command line

type: cd c:\program files Research in motion\apploader enter

    type: enter loader.exe /resettofactory

This should remove the policy from IT previous of the device and wipe the device then you can resync everything back to the device.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones recent update and now no screen saver

(I recently yesterday) updated my software on my Blacberry Bold 9700.  Before update 2 function keys for standby (right if you look at the phone) and lock (left side) on the top just that fact with the lock button showing a screen saver until the screen become black after a break.  The phone lock button to access the screen saver function that comes with more downloadable themes.  It is now the screen turns off as if it is in standby mode.  The standby key has now no functionality.

Is there a way to fix this?   I had a look through all the options and took a look at BB to help, but I don't see a way to assign or change the key features of locking.  I didn't really use the sleep button on the all so not worth it if I can't change that.

(Sorry if this has already been answered elsewhere I was not sure what search term to use and 'screen saver' and 'pending' did not help at all.

Yes, it has been asked and answered many times, and you wouldn't have around her as a "screen saver" like the BlackBerry doesn't really have any screen saver. What you're looking for is the "lock screen", and the function of the button mute on the upper part has changed, with the latest software updates, several months ago.

Also, get what you want, you will need to have a password on the device.

In otherwise, touch the top edge just puts the unit in standby mode.

  • BlackBerry smartphone White screen and hour glass, can't do anything

Occasionally by BB has a white screen with an hourglass, the latter for a few minutes

It the first time I tried it turn off, which did not help, so I removed the battery and turn on the power, and he returned to the white screen with the hour glass.

So I thought that maybe this is a update being pushed by Verizon or BB, couple of days later I plug my BB to USB for laptop and check the updates of BB, nothing there, OK. So I tried Verizon update, you know what number that your call and it ask you if you want to update your phone (don't remember what it is right now)

Someone else has had this, are there any patches?

Thanks in advance for your help

    Bulisani,

Sorry for the problem with the hourglass and display...

Each unit of a battery pull restarts, the screen will appear empty for about 1-2 minutes during startup.  If you load ok and continue to have the hourglass appearing frequently, there may be a somewhenre of files sorrupted who maintains the processes that the BB must load - not 100% sure, but if there is a corruption, you might want to consider your phone by using the Fund mgr and performing a master handheld wipe (backup options security options (gen settings, touch menu and then select wipe Handheld)

When restore you... A full recovery can restore the corruption on the phone, so...

There is an advanced Fund mgr backup/restore option allowing you to restore specific databases such as Contacts, calendar, etc...

BTW... the more - the number of programming made up air is only to update your device with VZW towers, dealing with mainly the roaming capabilities and the # * 228.

    I hope that helped you!

  • BlackBerry smartphones battery + hourglass

Hello everyone. Your answers are greatly appreciated. Recently, I noticed that my battery finally seems less and less and my hourglass and the speed at which works my phone seems to be slower. I suspect (but not sure) that this is because of the increase in the amount of the apps I have installed on my phone. I wonder if anyone out there can confirm my suspicions and can give me some tips to make my battery last longer. The phone is not more than six months.

The following applications are installed: Google maps, Vlingo, Reuter News, Thomsons, Worldmate, EWhere and Poynt.

    Thank you

    Fred

freddy2g: you are right.  That's exactly what I thought, but over time the distance between what I think and what my fingers type goes.  The synapses in my brain still apart and not all the electrical impulses make everywhere.

As for the battery remove Tanzim suggested. Yes.  Remove the battery with the unit on.  Wait about a minute and replace the battery.  Leave the BB completely restart and see if it does not help.   Clears the memory and updates the BB; like restarting your pc.

There is also a free app called Quickpull that will do this so you don't have to actually pull the battery.  Check it out here: Quickpull

I have mine set to reboot every morning at 4:30, so my BB is refreshed and ready to go.  Sometimes, however, a real battery pull seems to do a still better job.  When you have anamalous behaviour in your BB battery pull often help to clarify.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones not fresh and detention, hourglass thing constantly

    Hello

Have a weird problem with my curve. He had only a month or two and the hourglass thing is today and turns off constantly all day and the battery will not hold a charge. One thing I would say is that I get emails on that for my business, the business e-mail to bg server problem and you can not connect on him so I was wondering if this would cause the blackberry to constantly try to connect and drain the battery?

    Any help appreciated

is the battery while lit some kind of reset thing then?

Yes, I asked that do you it without putting the unit off from the first.

If you turned it off first, it tells me nothing. I would not advise that do you anything with your BlackBerry which could harm or cause the loss of data or whatever it is invasive, at least not without a warning just consequences.

    Good luck.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones device date and time will not

I have a BB Torch 9860. Unit date and time is wrong, but I can't change it because the icon in the panel display and controls, update is marked with a lock symbol auto. Also the Auto update time zone: display the prompt with a lock symbol. Network time is correct. Can anyone help with this please. Thank you

Sounds like policy. If this device is on a BES and controlled at least partially from your employer, you need to talk to your employer or your employer, IT people. If it is under your full control and of your device, then there is no problem in removing a COMPUTER policy.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones URGENT help! -Locked phone curve 9320

I just bought the 9320 BlackBerry Curve, I put a phone lock code and it worked very well and unlocked each time but now after being in my Pocket most of the day a few buttons should were pressed and it says phone locked and on the screen it says-"type of blackberry to continue" (he never said this before) I do this, and then it asks for my code, I put in my original code (4 digits) and it says incorrect code, I am now on my last attempt, what will happen if I try and I no more attempts on the left? He will go on lock down and cost me a fortune to get fixed or is there something I can do to avoid this problem

would really like to help, I thank you for reading

Hello and welcome to the community!

What you're saying, looks like it's your device lock password, which prevents you from your device. Only this password can unlock it, but for one reason or another it just is not be accepted. Most often, it is because of the keyboard... you may think that you type a number, but actually, it's a letter, lock shift is power or some other modifier key is not present in the same State as when the password was created. Unfortunately, with just one more attempt there is very little to try... you get only once chance, so the probability of success is low.

I suggest you remove your battery, wait 5 minutes, then insert the battery, but wait at least 15 minutes before you try anything. Only, you get a chance, so you must leave your BB to be fully started before trying anything.

If you fail the last time, what will happen is that your BB will wipe itself clean of everything and be as if it were when you received first of all, including the removal of the password. This is a security feature designed to protect valuable data and personal information on the device of thieves.

    Good luck!
