  • HP Envy 17, N1L21EA: HP Envy 17 blocked Bios Update?

From 26/02/2016, I try to install the upgrade of the SP74326 Bios for my HP Envy 17, laptop N1L21EA. Using the Assistant from HP Support, messages is simply that the installation has failed, I tried several times.

When you directly download the SP74326.exe, Setup shows 3 options, the upper 1 "Update" option is always Bernard, with the message "BIOS update is blocked on this unit. The other options are backup options that work.

It seems that my notebook does not want to be updated!

No problem with the laptop itself or some other updates.

    Any idea?

    Ok.

  • Blocked BIOS problem!

I recently did a Windows Update on my 4540 s Probook HP, which I believe included an update of the BIOS, and since then, the only way I can get into my computer when you turn it on it is press F9 as soon as I press the start button to start the machine. This gives the ability to select the right drive to start with. If I do not press F9, the screen goes all black with a lot of white letters on it and in the end, he has a cursor flashing as if I neede to enter something. The message begins with something to do with the Caldera.

I took it instead, I've had it since and they tried to get into the BIOS settings, as they said that what has happened is that is not automatically selecting the right drive to boot from. However, the BIOS seems to be stuck and they don't know how to unlock the BIOS. Can someone help me on how to unlock the BIOS to get this problem?

Or better yet, is the problem that I have explained above anything to do with the BIOS settings?

Would be glad of some help for this!

Windows Update does not include an update of the BIOS. The only place to download an update of the BIOS of HP is. "Caldera" is / was a former BACK operating system and may have been transferred in a Linux version. Do you have a CD or DVD in the optical drive, or a USB Flash drive inserted into the computer? If so, remove them at this time.

If please enter the BIOS by turning on the computer and typing the "F10" or "ESC" (then select "F10") the keys, reset it to the default values and save the settings. Make sure the primary hard drive is selected as the first boot device. Please check to make sure that all CD, DVD, Flash drives are removed and try to restart your computer. What was the result?

You can create a "repair disk" Windows and run to see if it can resolve your problem. Finally, you may need to perform a recovery of the HP system to correct your problem.

  • Reset password BIOS HP OmniBook 300

    Hello!

This is my first post here on the forums of HP and I have a problem. Now, I know there is already a similar topic here somewhere, but I didn't want to resurrect an over 3 years, so I've created a new.

The thing is, a few days ago, I managed to get my hands on a very old laptop HP - OmniBook 300, but the guy who sold it to me "forgot" to tell me that it is password protected. Since it is not able to remember the password, I'm stuck with a work laptop that refuses to boot the operating system (so I think it's a BIOS password in question here).

In any case, I tried everything, including pay 20 dollars for a guy who claims he has a program that can generate a master password for this old OmniBook based on a randomly generated code.

So I did what he said (and what I read in the service manual that I dug up on internet) and on the password entry screen I pressed ALT + SHIFT + F10 and some kind of code appears on the display (in the manual it says this is the encrypted password). I sent this code him and a few hours later he sent me three "master passwords" claiming that at least one should work, depending on the version of the BIOS. Unfortunately, it did not work...

In any case, I was wondering anyone here have an idea how to override the BIOS on OmniBook 300 password? I don't even bother contact HP support since I read in many places that people have tried this, but I got the answer that this laptop is no longer supported because it is too old.

Thank you for your attention and I hope someone can help me.

OK, it's not really a solution to remove a BIOS password, but I managed to start the operating system (Windows 3.1/DOS) through a 'solution '.

The problem I had is that OmniBook was protected with a BIOS and OS (HARD/flash drive disk) password. Someone suggested on the other forum, boot from a disk D, reformatting a HARD drive and reinstall everything from scratch, but it was impossible because of the BIOS (or other) password was in place.

My solution has been to try to reformat the flash card using another device. First of all, I have tried in one of my older laptops with a PCMCIA slot, but Windows XP called for appropriate dirvers. Then, I tried to use my old Pocket/handhelds computers - Jornada 720 oone both 320LX asked pilots. After this failed, I tried something that should have been the obvious choice at the beginning - I plugged 10 MB flash card OmniBook in HP 200 lx (200 LX is an old BACK pocket with PCMCIA Type II slot)... and IT WORKED! I managed to reformat the flash memory card successfully using the commands "format a:" and "fdisk100". I plugged the card towards the OmniBook and the completed system C drive is empty and available to reinstall everything automatically, "get around" the BIOS password. Now everything works as it should and the OmniBook 300 is really a great little machine BACK and now I realize why it was so popular back in one day.

BTW, I recon that this laptop was stolen a long time ago and that he kept changing the owner because we didn't know what to do with computer (HDD, locked, blocked BIOS)... until now. The BIOS password is still there, but this the hell - it works.

  • HP Pavilion 15-ak101nq Gaming: wifi card white list

    Hello:

There do seem to be blocking BIOS more in order to avoid to install another wireless card.

But just as bad, you will find on many HP laptops with single band card, only a wireless antenna is present.

Unless you're ready to take the laptop share everything, including the area of display panel to run an antenna 2, you will not be able to upgrade the current map, because maps dual band require usually two wireless antennas.

Then... you will have to physically inspect the current map and see if there is one or 2 antennas are and decide for yourself what you want to do next.

Now, I've heard about some of the new laptops, HP began to install a second antenna and leaving that it disconnected, if it is equipped with a single band with a single terminal card.

Do not rely on the photos in the service manual to determine if your laptop has 2 antennas.

  • Impossible to Intel 3945 ABG mini Intel 4965 AGN adapter PCIe on Satellite P100-222.

I bought the new Intel PRO wireless 4965 AGN mini PCIe card, but then I try to replace the original block my Satellite P100-222 starts simply, power LED TURNS on, power led flash HARD drive twice & nothing happens, BIOS screen is not displayed.
I have updated the BIOS to the latest version 3.80, remove the supervisor and user passwords, reset the BIOS to factory default, replace new card to another in the store, but the computer still does not start with the new wireless card installed. Same time he started nice with the old card or any card in this mini PCIe slot.
I know the other manufacturer have BIOS block for not original of the card, but in this case, the error message appears on the screen during POST. In my case I don't get any sound or display messages. I can't find any info on lock BIOS in Toshiba laptops.

Any ideas how I can get to work my new wireless card?

Thank in advance for the help.

    Hello Grog

I presume you bought it without any verification of compatibility. Am I wrong? AFAIK this card WLAN (AGN) has 3 antenna connectors and your laptop to two. On processors Intel page I didn t find any info on compatibility, but I imagine that this WLAN card will be delivered with newer chipset and it is not easy to say if you can use it on your hardware platform.

All block BIOS I can't tell you everything but after 8 years of use of laptop Toshiba I can say that something like this is not known to me.

You can try to contact your local dealer or partner authorized in your country. They are also specialized for the hardware upgrade. They may be able to say more on the compatibility with the WLAN card you.

  • Qosmio G20 blocked on JBOD in BIOS

    Hello

I have a problem with the Toshiba Qosmio G20-109.
The system does not start, the two hard drives JBOD (unable to start Windows).
    HDD1 - 120 GB
    HDD2 - 250 GB

So I wanted to put the first disc HARD 1 1RAID-0 using the method described in the Manual: I entered the code 1 2 3 4 and I pressed Enter.

The problem is that once entered the BIOS code remained frozen and blocked.

I tried everything, I'm not despairing managing to install an operating system.

I hope there is a solution.

    Hello

If JBOD has been set in the BIOS, Windows OS could not be installed on this HARD drive except using the Toshiba product recovery disc. But I guess you want to install the system using another drive in Windows.

To be honest, I not very well why the BIOS freezes and does not accept Mr. code it s certainly the right one: ENTRY 1,2,3,4

But the issue is probably related to the HARD drive. How to switch hard drives in the Bay?
Try to use the 120 GB HDD2 and the 250GB as HDD1.

    I also recommend you use the 1RAID-0 = HDD1 and HDD2 = JBOD
Would be interesting how it works.

  • Tecra 9100 - BIOS block 1 damaged and the update of the BIOS?

    Hello

I have an old Tecra 9100 with years of quality service, and it is my first problem, but is a great, after a forced restart the display shows the message BIOS 1 damaged block. I tried to fix the BIOS upgrade to the latest version I found, the 1.6 one, but it is a version of Windows (to upgrade a Toshiba computer I think) and when I try to run it in another computer to generate a floppy and upgrade the BIOS drive, I can't, because a common message from modules of Toshiba.

Its there any floppy BIOS image - archive I can download to perform the BIOS update the BIOS?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

All you can find is stuff on the Toshiba support page. I don't know where you live, but try to contact nearest Toshiba authorized maintainer.
They have access to the database of Toshiba and they can get it for you. Call and ask for help. I'm sure they will help you fix this BIOS.

  • Damaged BIOS 1 - Satellite Pro 6000 block

    Hi all

I bought a laptop, a Satellite Pro 6000, but after a few weeks, he refused to start and gave me the bios message 1 damaged block.

I downloaded the update to bios on the toshiba site, but it does not work.
I have an external floppydisc. When I put the .exe to upgrade the bios on a floppy disk and turn on the laptop with the ~ button, I get the message "ready for the update of the bios, place the update disk and press any key when ready."
I can hear the disk is searched, but nothing happened.

How do I update the bios or is there something else wrong?
    Any help would be appreciated!

In my opinion with the BIOS update you can't do anything wrong.
If you BIOS, update by following the procedure described in the document FAQ Toshiba and the BIOS update can not be done properly, I'm afraid there is a problem with the BIOS chip and it may be defective.

I can't say for sure, but if the BIOS chip is damaged, then you have a big problem.

In my experience the special drive is required, which is available only for ASP technician
That's why it of necessary to contact the ASP in your country to reflash BIOS.
