BOOTMGR is missing: no installation or recovery disk!

Hello.
I have a HP Pavilion dv6000 and run Windows Visa Home Edition.

I wanted to restore my laptop to its factory settings, but the Recovery Manager would not work. When I click on it it would just restart the computer without anything else happening. I then right click on computer > manage > Disk Manager and made the recovery partition active. When I restarted the computer it has started to show:
BOOTMGR is missing
Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete
Of course, brings us to the same message after restarting the computer you. I can't access the F8 button. F10 only works (Bios). I do not have a recovery or installation CD because it came not with the laptop when I bought it.
Is there anyway that I can change the active partition in drive C, this deactivation of the recovery partition? I read that it was possible to access Disk Manager cmd window, but I do not know how to access since the key F8 does not work (makes just a bipping sound when you press on)?
I'm also abroad so cannot send my laptop to HP for fixed it. Any ideas?
Thanks for your suggestions.

Scroll down the page and get > Bootable CD ISO and > ImgBurn to burn the iso image to cd, a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write an ISO on a disc is here. Once created, boot from it and allows you to change the active partition.

It seems that the first recovery disk is not created properly because you got an error message.
As I understand your message, you have tried to boot from the first recovery disc (which was not correctly created in the past) and so the installation could not be completed successfully.

Now, you cannot start the operating system, because the Boot Manager is missing and possibly the system is deleted also

    Hi Tina

You must boot from the recovery disk to put the laptop in the same State as on the first day of purchase.

The Toshiba Recovery disk format the whole HARD drive and automatically installs Windows 7, Toshiba tools and utilities, drivers, therefore, boot from that disk and you will need to follow the instructions on the screen.

  • HP all in one 21 - 2035 t: installation of recovery disk when replacing failed hard drive with small HD

I have a 1 TB HD failure I want to replace it with a 250-500 GB HD SSD. Do I need a HD 1 TB replacement using the recovery disk? The only programs/applications are MS Office software and printer, so I know that there is enough space.

    Thank you, Paul.

The system would expect the 1 TB drive.  If the defective disk can last another cycle, you can use the migration software in the smallest drive. Just read the procedure to reduce the original smaller size.

  • Re: Satellite U305-S7477 - problem with a clean installation of recovery disks

I'm trying to do an OS clean installation of Vista on a new hard disk, the installation proceeds correctly, but in the end, instead of asking me to create a user id and password as the machine makes first start upward when it is new, it shows a login for the administrator with a message that the administrator account has been disabled , and enter another pre-existing user name and password, that I have not since this is a clean install.

Toshiba wants to get only the recovery on top a pre-existing installation of OS? It would be quite a limitation and would prevent one to recover their machine after the death of a hard drive.
Any thoughts? I look through the docs for a password by default, but if it's there I have not found it.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

To be honest, your question is strange to me. The fact is, for the installation of an operating system you can use Microsoft DVD or DVD Toshiba recovery facilities. In both cases the installation is almost complete you must enter your user name and password (optional). There is no difference at all.

I made repeated several times on WXP and Vista installation. No difference at all. Username must be entered always and I didn t notice such problem, as described in your ad.

So please try to reinstall the OS and pay attention to every step of facilities. Images of recovery facilities are tested, and I can't imagine Toshiba s people can control something like that.

  • BootMGR is missing. Help, please!

My BootMGR is missing when I started my computer Windows Vista Home Premium Zt. I tried to use a recovery disc for Windows Vista, but when I select 'Repair your computer' and I have to choose my operating system. It does not appear and when I click on "Load drivers", I can't find the operating system. Can someone help me please?

I assume you mean an image full backup.  To restore boot Installation or recovery disk and select restore backup (or something similar to that).  Then you just follow the instructions (make sure your backup device is attached and turned on).  If you use 3rd party software, you will need to consult their manuals for procedures.

So I did, Bam, same message. It might be the disk or something as I said, but I don't know! Its really annoying me now, please help!

Oh and I do not computer language can you please make it simple for me...

    Thank you!!

Here is the download of recovery for Vista instead of Windows7 drive: http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/windows-vista-recovery-disc-download/.  The thing is, I'm not sure you can use this drive for a boot recovery - you need an Installation of Vista disc.

If you can get your hands on an Installation of Windows Vista genuine disc, then here are some procedures to fix the BOOTMGR missing (you can try repair system with the Neosmart disk but honestly, I don't think that will work - you need to do the other procedure):

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    ·        Do a startup repair, boot from the disk Installation of Windows Vista genuine (or one that you can borrow from someone) or a recovery disc.  Here is the procedure: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial148.html.  You may need to change the BIOS to do first the CD drive in the boot sequence to boot from the CD.  To do this, hold the screen that tells you the key F to push to enter the menu start or start of installation.  Push it quickly. Make the changes, save your work and exit.  Put the CD in the drive and reboot.  When you are prompted, press any key to boot from the CD.

If you do not have a floppy disk, you can make a bootable recovery disk by using http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/windows-vista-recovery-disc-download/ with burning software like: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html and, of course, a blank CD.

If this does not resolve the problem, try the following:

To run the Bootrec.exe tool, you must start Windows RE. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. put the Windows Vista installation disc in the disc drive, and then start the computer.

    2. press a key when you are prompted.

    3. Select a language, a time, a currency, a keyboard or an input method, and then click Next.

    4. click on repair your computer.

    5. click on the operating system that you want to repair, and then click Next.

    6. in the System Recovery Options dialog box, click command prompt.

    7. type Bootrec.exe, and then press ENTER.

Note If rebuilding the BCD does not resolve the startup problem, you can export and delete the BCD, and then run this option again. In doing so, you ensure that the BCD is completely rebuilt. To do this, type the following commands at the command prompt Windows RE:

    ·        bcdedit/export C:\BCD_Backup

    ·        c:

    ·        Boot CD

    ·        BCD attrib s h - r

    ·        Ren c:\boot\bcd BCD.old

    ·        Bootrec /RebuildBcd

Good luck and I hope this helps!

  • Bootmgr missing after the system recovery using discs HP

I recently used system restore disks to restore my laptop as long as you plant. Once the restore program disc and the pilot has been designed, it is ignored on the screen to finish without any confirmation of a facility. The system has rebooted and gave the message Bootmgr is missing. CTRL + Alt + Delete to restart. Same result when I did.
How can I get the system to find/fix/create a file Bootmgr to the win 7 OS.
Use a Pavillion dv7 entertainment series 17 '' laptop with DVD, bluray, blutoothe, built-in wifi, finger photography and recognition.

    Thank you

You must boot from the installation media you made.

Then you should see a screen that says install Windows on the lower left side of the screen, there should be an option to repair your computer.

That's what you select (to fix your computer), and then you use the microsoft article to repair the boot sector.

If this does not work, unfortunately I won't be able to help you more, because I have no idea where to go from there.

  • Recovery of the FAILED system now BOOTMGR is missing

    Hello

I have a HP Pavilion DV6-2155dx with win 7 Home premium
I started having problems with my system and had to retrieve it, but the recovery of the system has failed again and again with the error 0xC0000225. Finally, I found in one of the forums that system recovery partition has not started because somewhere, probably after that I did the new partition, my records have been converted basic dynamic. I had to buy online for $ 30 software back to basic disks, and finally, the recovery partition has been recognized. I chose the option of recovering your system back to the State factory, but after the process started, if failure after only 1% of the process, telling me that the computer cannot be retrieved for the image is missing or something like that, I don't remember the exact message. I said 'ok' and the computer restarted, now I get a MSG "BOOTMGR is missing" using the recovery disk, I tried Chkdsk, but then I realized that the disk is GONE.

Now, what can I do to access the recovery partition?

I also try to download an iso of windows 7 that I found a link to here on the forum (to fix the "bootmgr is missing" error) (http://www.mydigitallife.info/download-windows-7-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit-direct-download-link... but the problem is on the thumbnail activition key below my computer is clearly more and was half-earased.)

My serial no is [personal information deleted]
    My product is WA781UA #ABA

Parts of the activation key, that I CAN see is [deleted personal information]

can you please tell me what was my original activation key, or on the contrary - how can I fix my laptop? I've been around this week! Lose hundreds of hours of work!

Resolved - I called Microsoft and sent them a photo of the sticker + computer details, and they sent me a new activation key.
