bought replacement computer

3 years ago, we bought an HP computer with windows vista pre installed. He understood the re install disks. The hard drive died and he was succeeded and had no bad to re install the motherboard vista.now died, so we bought a generic pc Tower and the Board of Directors and cpu with the same care, but could not make a re install of vista. The message says that my copy of vista could not support this computer. I pop in my old hard drive and the computer is running but Explorer shuts down all the time and I can't do a restore, updates or anything else. I'm assuming its because the copy of vista is for this computer.

No idea what I should do now.

Thank you

You have an oem (preinstalled) version that is related to your HP hardware. It is not transferable. You have to buy a new version of win (commercial version)

    1. call the manufacturer of your computer, ask a set of recovery disks. The entire cost is low and the money is well spent.
    The game allows you to restore your computer. Ask a manul on how to use the recovery discs.

    2. While the site of the computer manufacturer, ask to speak to a technician. Ask the person to teach you how to access your computer, Partition Recovery and utilization of the partition to restore your computer to factory State.

    Reinstall Vista:

    Vista recovery media obtain and/or use the Partition Recovery Vista on your computer to the factory settings .

    There is no Vista free download legal available.

    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
    See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
    Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...
    Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Also ask them if it is possible to do the recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

    They will tell you how to do this.

    Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, Acer, recovery disk/s etc).
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.
    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
    If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
  • I have four recovery disks that after I bought my computer, I did. These disks can be used to install Windows on the new drive?
    My computer came with Windows 7.  Recently, my hard drive failed.  I have four recovery disks that after I bought my computer, I did.  These disks can be used to install Windows on the new drive?
    YES!
    I just did mine 01/01/2016, installed a new WD 500 GB HDD black on my laptop ASUS K52F, took my DVD 4 restore disks and restored to Win 7 Home Premium, more 10 Windows, which is sitting on my old HDD in the trash. I'll stick with my Original OEM OS and never improve to WIN 10 times.
    NOTE: The only time the restore disks do not work is when you replace your motherboard.
    Yes, you can transfer it to a new computer, you need to check the new computer, you will sit already has a previous qualification license (XP, Vista, Windows 7, or 8).
    3. Select your "country" in the list.
    4. choose the option "activate phone".
    Your machine is still under warranty, so you should take it to your local Apple store for repairs. Function late in January, you bought it, you still have phone without support. If you can't find any help on the Apple Store, then I don't know what you expect to find here. We have no way to check for problems you have described or any additional hardware, etc.
