  I will also mention that the old Apple TV remotes work with the new ATV as well - except Siri.  In fact, I use remote money or my universal remote control harmony more than the included remote control of Siri (I can't find Siri on tvOS it useful - still).

  Looks like a fairly simple function that would be pretty easy to impliment through IR control sampling as is the volume control. And then just implement that Protocol in the sleep unit as is the HDMI control.

  Hi guys,.

  I have a 4th gen Apple TV for Christmas at work. It's pretty convenient, but it's a very weird thing: the remote control sends signals randomly when nobody is in contact with it, in fact, nobody is there, everyone is metres from the remote control. Since Apple TV is connected to my TV which is capable of HDMI-CEC, it also turns on the TV. Sometimes without any model, when we sit in the corner opposite of the same room, or at random times of the day or even at night. Sometimes I go out in the middle of the night to check on our little girl and I see that the TV is on. Apple TV will switch to standby after a certain time, but since it does not send SIGNAL to the TV via CEC, the TV stays on. Sometimes I stop the movie I'm watching something and when I come back, film runs and minutes. This causes me a real headache, not to mention that it also adds the power bills, especially when we leave for a weekend and I come home that the TV is on...

  Did any of you ever heard, or it's a faulty remote with a contact problem around the buttons that need to be replaced? If the first case, how can I fix this, if the latter, will change any Apple retailer for me? There is no Apple store dedicated to Christchurch, New Zealand. My employer has ordered hundreds of Apple TV Online.

  I don't have to assume that someone else uses one of the old silver remotes close to Apple TV or if someone could play a joke on you with a distance more or the Apple remote on their phone app.

  There was a small number of reports related to the buttons on the remote apparently stick and sending several times the same command, but I don't think I've seen all the reports to work intermittently on his own.

  I have a relatively new Apple TV (4th Gen) and tonight after a few weeks of work perfectly, the remote control slide to the right and in other directions only intermittently. I read up before you call Apple and it seems to me that it is a new issue. Here my question is it possible to restart the remote where the little glitches occur. A poster suggested battery, it looks like there must be a pressure button to reset the remote control, if you know of one, please post. I'll try next, logout and re-pairing to see what is happening, and then from there head to the store tomorrow.

  So I solved the problem by restarting the Apple TV itself, and now the remote works again. Also amazing that my iPhone was working very well as a remote control before the reboot, so don't know why this Apple TV restarting fixed but there.

Impossible to connect, or even choose App store, or spare parts offline, erratic, glitch and acts as a problem of distance, but seems to be a software problem or interface.   .. and Yes, to answer your question, it's a good way to go about it.

  Another way is to have an include with a set of functions, etc., which is for your local site and an inclusion of the same name which contains comparable functions for the remote site, but the day may come when you accidentally download your local version of the remote control, causing the remote site to break.

• Apple TV (3rd generation) remote control suddenly stopped working

  I used aluminum remote on my 3rd generation Apple TV for years without a single issue.  Then last night, after working fine most of the evening, it simply stopped working.  The first thing I did was to get the distance within two feet of the Apple TV, and then I was able to make it work.  To me, this indicates a battery is weakening, so I replaced it.  Same problem: Apple TV does not remotely, unless I get very, very close.  Just in case, I got a new battery, I tried a second.  Same question.

  I did a bit of digging in the community forum, and here's what I've tried:

  -restarted successfully the Apple TV via the software and then again just unplug the power cord and wait 10 seconds, but the problem persists.

  -successfully paired and re-paired remote control, but the problem persists.

  ATV shows a solid light when I push buttons, unless I come to this beach to two feet and then it flashes once as her answers ATV.

  I have looked on the IR through the camera of my iphone, but don't see any red flashes... and yet the ATV receives the signal from the remote control if it is close enough.

  Curiously, as part of my diagnosis, I noticed that the "UP" button had become insensitive, even from the beach which work the other buttons.

  Ciids remote uses IR to adjust the volume on your TV/receiver in the vast majority of cases and HDMI-CEC in a small number of cases because / TVs very few seem to support the volume in this way. If you cannot use your siri remote to control the volume via HDMI-CEC then you aren't going to get the remote app either from the app remote can't use IR

  I just returned from vacation and my remote seems has stopped working.   Naturally, my first assumption was that the charge was simply exhausted.

  1. Have you tried pressing the menu and the button for a few seconds while it now an inch or two away from the Apple TV, if successful, you should see a message on the screen saying the remote was paired.
  2. If you have an older remote from a previous model MacBook or Apple TV, you can use to restore the Apple TV, which, in many cases, has been sufficient to reactivate the remote Siri. You must complete all upward to undertake a restoration.
  3. If you have a USB cable - C you can try to restore by connecting it to iTunes on a computer.
  4. If you have tried all of these steps, don't have a distance sooner or a USB - C cable or their use is too inconvenient, return it to the store where purchased for a replacement, or to couple for you.

  You can buy a replacement. Those for ATV 2 and 3 are not very expensive. They work with ATV 4 also, only Siri.      There is a remote app for iOS devices, but you need a real distance to pair remote with ATV. If you have a Mac computer, there is an application called ciderTV that can operate without need of the remote control to start.

  Ha ha! Sorry to hear about your frustration!

  I suggest to go into your Apple TV settings and change the remote sensitivity to something that suits you the most.

  How to:

  • Be on the home screen of your Apple TV
  • Go to the application settings
  • Remote controls and devices
  • Then change Followed Touch Surface to slip into something more for you! Looks like you need to set to slow depending on your position.
