  It is by design - you have the power to the system removed part. A higher power supply adapter can eliminate this problem.

  You can download the installer for OS X directly from Oracle. Be sure to uncheck everything installs 'optional' which can appear at the beginning (I think on Windows it wants to install McAfee trial or the toolbar Bing - not really malware, more as desired and useless crud-ware).  I have a course Java JRE install on my MacBook Pro retina like some internal tools we have developed to work are currently java and I use a tool of u.   Unfortunately I can't give you a precise answer, but if you can't use your laptop with AC power only (without battery) there must be a problem with electronic power supply on the motherboard and you should contact Toshiba service.

  My hdmi suddenly stopped working, tried things usual fn + f5 / f8, win + p key, enable / disable lower resolution etc. so decided to factory reset but still pc hdmi does not graphics card.

  tried it on my panasonic usual tv nothing works, tested on samsung tv without result, the pc detects the tv and even sets the audio to my TV but no sound from the tv. tried unplugging tv cable and pc stop feeding and took out the battery for 10 sec, trendy everythign on all together, still does not work.

  I checked the hdmi cables with other devices and work on the two TV - using the shortest cable to test the laptop.

  Try running chkdsk from the recovery console and then try to make the disk fragmentation.

  Note: /r locates bad sectors and recovers readable information. When you run the checkdisk, there are risks of data loss you can take a backup before starting the checkdisk.

  c. When you are prompted to do so, type the administrator password. If the administrator password is blank, just press ENTER.

  d. at the Recovery Console prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:

  Chkdsk /r drive

  e. allow it to run intact until the completion (45 min or more)

  f. report any error

  The data is not "hostage." Pull the disk and put it in a box disc or it slave to a working computer and retrieve the data. If you don't have an additional computer you will need to borrow a friend or with the machine at a tech. You can also try the o with a Linux Live CD boot. I like Knoppix, but there are others. This has two advantages: 1) if the system works, you can back up all the data that missed your last backup; and (2) with the machine running Linux allows to determine whether the problems are caused by software or hardware. If the machine is unbearably slow and/or Linux cannot run correctly, you know that the hardware is at fault. If the machine behaves perfectly under Linux, you know that the software (Windows) is at fault.

  Whatever you do, do not install Windows without test material. If the hardware is at fault, software solutions like reinstalling Windows will be unnecessary. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!
