Get message color cartridges are empty, but I want to just print in black that is there. How to replace the error message

Hi suzann777,

Welcome to the HP Forums! I see that you wonder if there is a substitution in order to use the black without color, with your HP Photosmart c5180.

Please have a look through this guide and please read the note at the end of an empty cartridge replacement procedure, step 8. "Ink cartridges are empty" Error Message.

Hope that answers your question and have a nice day!

I have always used HP printers, but my last printer Photosmart C5180 all-in-one gives me problems especially if the printed page is wet. I noticed that a drop of liquid causes printing ink on paper fades and short. Makes bad when you print a map and walk in the rain just not be somewhat readable. It uses the HP 02 ink cartridge, which is what I use in my printer is HP products. Anyone know a stop to this or preventing the ink actually turn liquid and nose that flows when it is wet? Help, please!

The HP Photosmart C5180 provide coinnectivity USB only.

It is not equipted with any Ethernet network card or wireless and therefore cannot be connected to a router, but only directly to a computer.

  • Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong with C5180

Thank you for reading my post. I have a Photosmart C5180 all-in-one printer. I do calendars for my children. I have a PC with Windows Vista. I've been printing these for two years using the HP Photosmart Essential software. I am trying to print a picture of 'full page' on 8.5 "x 11" photo paper. I get a message saying that the image size is too large for the paper. I'm going goofy trying to get this image full-size to print. I have done many times before and can't happen now. Any suggestions?

    Thank you very much

    Smurfsdad

Thanks Matmaria for your suggestion. This does not, as did nothing else I could think of. I think that sort of 'Vista' was behind all this. I was pulling my hair out. Finally, I downloaded an updated version of the Photosmart Essentials and it allows me to do what I was trying to do. Thank you again... Smurfsdad

  • C5180 home networking problem

    Printer:  HP Photosmart C5180 all-in-one

    OS:        Windows 7 Ultimate

History:  Had DSL and installed the printer without problems using the IP printer and WIN7 Installer.

Passed to FIOS and received a new router wireless and new ips for everything.  A laptop is connected to the printer via the port USB... works very well.  The other laptop I tried to connect to the printer via the network (wireless and inflexible to the router) without success.

Wrestling:  When I had DSL, the screen of the printer worked fine. UH... then, for some reason, uh, it stop working.  I'm no expert, but there was this time when some paper stuck internally and I disassembled the top and rear it ever-so-carefully. However, during reassembly, the top fell back and pulled out a few ribbon cable... maybe those two things are correlated... in any case, I did retrieve the jammed paper.

Gaps:  I can't figure out how to discover the new ip of the printer, and ""Add a printer"in Windows 7 will not conclude it on the network (the printer displays networking lights: green and orange flashing at random)"

    Any help is help.

PS I know where I can get a replacement ribbon cable?

Okay, either HP and the border do not mix with the ethernet or the HP some how broken when the guys from Frontier moved my netgear ethernet cord to their router/modem...  I give up... bought a new printer.

    Thanks for the 411.

  • HP C5180 Photosmart - ink system failure

I have a 13 month old Photosmart C5180 HP which is now displaying the following error message, "ink system has failed. Unable to print... "Error: Oxc18a0506.

The help message suggests "put off, then on again.  This does not clear the fault.  I followed a number of other subjects with similar-sounding problems and have tried all the suggested solutions, including resets, cleaning of printheads, removing each print cartridge and cleaning them, withdrawal and the replacement of the power lead while now the OK and help buttons.  None of them have allowed the problem.  Before I get what many have described as less useful and expensive, line of HP support I was wondering if anyone else has had and solved, this error.

I hope this helps someone out there:

    Reset:

    • Unplug the printer, then pressing the help and ok button branch simultaneously in. This sorting it.

Have to say it looked like all this process exhausted shed loads of ink, so by the time I had finished I had to replace the 3 cartons!

  • C5180 & c6180 randomly left the impression at the beginning.

Hi, I have a problem with my HP printer. I have a 7520 which is fine and works fine all the time. I have 2 other a C5180 and a C6180 and they both have the same question.

Ps5 printing every so often the printer/s will be leaving the impression at the beginning and don't miss out the background centimetre of printing.

This seems to happen randomly when it arrives, I can send the photo and he can do it again, but if I send it again once it may be very well.

    Printers are all wired.

I tried to reinstall the printers, installing them one at a time, let windows choose the driver or install the hp software.

    I'm on windows 8.1 64-bit.

    Any advice would be great

  • 0xc18a0106 on Photosmart c5180 error code

I followed the recommended procedure, but the problem persists. The printer connected to a network home via the gateway.

The printer does not work and returns the error code 0xc18a0106 on the front panel of the printer and work is the removal of the (QC) all cartridges have been replaced by nine. Any proposal to resolve this situation?

    Hi demertzy,

Just had this problem on my HP Photosmart C5180 printer.

    That's what I did:

If you get an error message on your screen of the printer (HP Photosmart C5180) that says "0xc18a0106-ink system has failed", you will need to perform a reset of the printer.

Something usually causes the error and it is generally a chip failed, an obsolete chip or break when installing a new cartridge, and this must be corrected before continuing. Most of the problems usually come from the last cartridge inserted, so start by replace this cartridge. You will also need all the cartridges with low ink in there or you will need to replace any empty before continuing. After replacing the cartridge problem, keep it as it can be allowed to use at a later date, once the error has been reset.

    To reset the printer:
1 - Unplug the USB cable from the printer.
2 - Press the key On / Off turn the printer power off, unplug the power cable from the printer, press and hold the 'OK' button and the 'HELP' button, then plug the power cable, wait a few seconds and release both keys, then press 'On '.
Your printer will now initialize and you will need to follow the on-screen instructions and selection of the printer. This can take several minutes to complete. Your error code should now be gone, and you will now be able to copy and print.
3 reconnect the USB cable from the printer.

He has worked with me... Hope it will work for you.

  • Problem cartridge HP Photosmart C5180

Recently, I tried to change the cartridges for a printer HP Photosmart C5180 and bought two new sets, so I got some for the future. The representative of HP in the store told me that 02xl vivera HP inks would work as well as 363 regular cartridges supplied with the printer and that they would be more beneficial that they hold more than 50% ink. They also fit perfectly into the printer.

When I put in the error message the front of the printer says: "the ink cartridges are not intended for use with this printer. I can't bring back them to the shop as I bought a HP store in Las Vegas and I live in England. Please, please help if you can because I do not know that they would work with change of parameter or something.

    Kind regards

    Andy

Sorry, the 02 cartrdiges cannot be implemented in the C5180 which is regionalized for England.  There are certain circumstances where HP can change the settings of the regionalization of a printer, but this case does not match this model.

  • Photosmart C5180 - printing stops when the any ink cartridges run dry - what is happening with this?

My C5180 does not print anything, apparently because the cartridge Light Magenta Ink. I have given levels of gray, black ink only, but it persists in telling me to replace the color cartridge. Can it be good? Is it really necessary to buy a new cartridge in order to use the printer printing black ink?

    Thank you.

Insert the printer installation CD in your cd and cancel any window of installation. then type "X:\util\ccc\uninstall_L2.bat" in the run window (replace "X" with the drive letter of the CD drive the CD instalalion is located in..). you will get a black command prompt window that will feature instructions. Follow the instructions carefully. Once installation is complete, it can ask you to reboot, then do it.

then start the installation once more. 's done it, you shouldn't face this problem.

  • Problem of Power-Up/Power-Down Photosmart C5180 - loops on/stop/start/stop

After connecting the printer, it starts booting, and then will not end.  He cut a second and then starts again.  This will last as long as I left it.  I tried unplug, disconnect USB, pulling cartridges ink and replacement, but to no avail.

Another thread has discussed this problem with the C6180 and a solution has been to press the (#) and (6) buttons when applying power.  Unfortunately, the C5180 has no keypad.  Is there another set of buttons I can push to reset this thing?  Is it possible to reset and get the machine back to normal?  Thank you.

Quote from the other thread below that EXACTLY describes my problem:

"It lights up and shows the HP logo and process bar animation for one minute, followed by the message:"abnormal termination. "  To avoid damage use on the button to turn off the printer.  Do not use a wall or the band switch to close.  Press OK.  Then he stops and leaves upward. »

  • HP C5180: Printer color problems

I have a HP C5180 printer and printing color is messed up. My black watch diagnosis page than black, yellow-green with yellow strips, Lt Cyan shows as a dark cyan, cyan is white, Lt Magenta is dark blue, Magenta is Lt. blue. Anyone know how to fix this... I changed the printer cartirdges... the same problem. I cleaned the print heads. several times and followed the suggestions on the tech support pages. I would not only use this printer as a black and white printer.

    Hey @TomTwist,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I would like to help you today to solve print quality problems you are having with your HP Photosmart C5180 all-in-One Printer. Because you have already replaced the ink cartridges and clean the printhead several times nothing is done, there is a good chance to have a defective print head. The print head is what reads the cartridge and puts ink on the page. On your print head template system is a non-replaceable part. Therefore, should that do not pass part a replacement of the entire unit would be necessary. However, I would like to go through the following steps to conveniently solve this problem of quality.

I won't make you run any printhead more clean. The rule is usually 2 or 3 clean makes no difference at all, don't make a fourth because when you clean the printhead system it uses ink in order to rinse the ink system. If 2 or 3 clean make no difference that you're just wasting if you run a clean more.

    Step 1: Calibrate the colors:

    1. open the printer Toolbox: HP Solution Center. This should be on the desktop of your computer.

    2. If you have more than one printer installed, be sure to select the correct printer tab in the HP Solution Center

    3. click on settings

    4. click on print settings.

    5. click on printer Toolbox.

    6. on the device Services tab, click color to calibrate, and then follow the instructions on the screen. The procedure takes about two minutes and requires two sheets of paper.

Source: The printed colors are not colors should

If the problem persists, please continue to the next step.

Step 2: Align the print head:

    1. click on HP Solution Center's on your desktop

    2. click on settings.

    3. click on print settings

    4. click on printer Toolbox.

    5. on the tab Services of device the printer, Toolbox, click align the print cartridges, and then follow the instructions on the screen.

Source: Streaks or lines in the printed Image

Please test print once these two steps have been taken. If the issue of quality still persists, because you have already replaced your cartridges the next step would be a replacement of the entire unit.

  • HP Photosmart C5180 and Ethernet

Hello everyone. My Photosmart C5180 has Ethernet connection. Despite this, connect a RJ45 cable to my router and it does not share the printer wireless via a router. It worked before, when I bought it, but no more (long). Now, I decided to invest some time to solve the problem. The green light in the router does not light and internal router page, I do not see the printer. In the screen of the printer, it is said: ' hostname: not applicable; "IP address: 0.0.0.0" then I have a MAC address, supposed to be ok. Cable RJ45 really doesn't change anything.

    Router - D-Link DVA g3170
    DHCP-active

Please help because I really need to print wireless :/

    Thanks in advance!

If it is under warranty, I would call HP.   Otherwise, it is not fixed.
