Cancellation xp repair virus damage

I had windows XP repair of viruses that has since been removed, but the damage he did is always there. I used to be able to change the background, when I try to use the Control Panel, display, I get a box greyed, but I can change the color and used to have a lot more programs in all programs, most of the files in there say empty.  I also believe that the virus is also messed with my ablitites to play games. When I try to play games they will work normally for a while and then my moniter will act as if I turned off the machine. I used to be able to play the games that I now of problems with.

I use Microsoft Security Essentials. I think that because of several users, some of the programs were placed under different accounts.

The moniter, a Samsung SyncMaster 730b, behaves as if the computer is off, and played somewhat audio gets in a loop on my speakers.

You're only offering minimal information. However, my suggestion is to follow the instrcutions below. We will, first of all make sure that you are not yet infected by the malware. You can start restore windows files/component does not work.

Restart the computer in Safe Mode with network. Click HERE . Download the zip file. Extract the contents of the folder on your desktop. Right-click on each file one at a time and choose merge. This should restore your executables and lnk file associations.

Then click HERE. Download Malwarebytes. Update Malwarebytes and perform a full scan.  Choose to quarantine found nothing. Once completed click HERE and download Superantispyware Portable. Run a full scan quarantined found anything yet. Restart your computer in normal mode and perform a quick scan with Malwarebytes.

Hi, John. I had to deal with this virus of the Windows repair. I have had pretty good luck (fingers crossed anyway) by using the removal guide posted on bleepingcomputer.com.

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-Windows-repair

They have a program called rkill download that stops all the running processes. Allows you to prevent the virus from Windows repair. It will give you a file log and show you things that stop you. Write those down.

I had the same problem you had with not be able to update Malwarebytes. I would like to run rkill, run Malwarebytes, and then reboot and repair Windows would jump to the top. On the third try, I didn't restart after running rkill and Malwarebytes. Instead, I searched for the files that rkill to stop (and I wrote down) and remove them manually from the C drive. Also, I have downloaded and run CCleaner which has removed registry now dead keys associated with the repair of Windows virus in the registry.

    CCleaner: http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

Then I rebooted. That seemed to do the trick: I was able to update Malwarebytes again. I ran the program display offers the site computer network, and which unhid all files that was hiding the Windows repair virus.

Again seems to work... thought it might be of help to you as well! Good luck!

  • How to cancel a repair failure of Windows XP installation?

Hello, anyone know of a method to cancel a failed repair XP installation? After a virus removal, the box was still acting funny and blocks the installation of seven. I've repeatedly tried to repair the installation, but still get the adjustment buckle. I tried many patches of the forums about 'ASMS' questions 'CPP' etc. but in the end only the fatal error. The boot.ini file is directed to simple installation on the box. heart my question, is there a file temp or something that is causing to say in the loop I can delete putting the drive in another area or is there something in the reg that redirects to the installer?

any help would be greatly appreciated as this has been a long week deal and right now a wipe is not an option.

the box is a laptop computer with Windows XP SP1, but it has been upgraded to SP3. the original cd of XP SP1 was used as SP2 disc
    Thank you

I hope not correctly restart after the installation of the portion in text of the Repair Mode:

1 - mount the drive in another computer

2 remove the following folders and files, they are all in the root folder, usually C:\

    $WIN_NT$ ~ BT
    $WIN_NT$. ~ LS
    $LDR$

    3. edit the Boot.ini file and remove the line pointing to C:\$win_nt$.~bt\bootsect.dat="Windows XP... »

4 - change the registry and make sure that the value data of the following are set to 0:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\SystemSetupInProgress

See here for easy to follow information on how to edit the registry, while the drive is mounted in another machine:

  • (Repair) virus killed file system; What is the best way to rebuild the system?

System of Vista Business 32 bit SP2 from my child was hit in the wrong by a virus; When you run the repair virsu he deleted system files infected and he now gets repeat BSOD.

No, the Startup Repair is not going to fix the system, and the virus seems to have killed all the restore points. also can not get SFC / SCANNOW to run correctly.

So: I went to (a huge field of) struggling to set up a Slipstream installation DVD of Vista SP2 (since the original installation disc supplied with the system was only vanilla Vista).  I thought that I could load that and select the 'Upgrade' option and simply rebuild the Windows system, keeping all my programs and data.

But no, after loading, the system informed me that "upgrade has been disabled", as well as the comment for clarification: "-to update, launch the windows installation"-that sure I can "t do since I can't display the corrupt system virus even in safe mode.

    SO - I have a few questions:

    (1) FIRST: was first my hypothesis?  In other words, if I COULD bring up Windows on the machine damaged (even if only in safe mode), would be the upgrade, go ahead and work - whereas the old system corrupted virus was also VISTA SP2?  Or - the installation would inform me that he could NOT make an upgrade because it would detect that the previous version was indeed also VISTA SP2 and therefore "knowledge" that he could not (really) do an upgrade?

    (2) assuming that the answer to #1 is 'yes', then: is there a version of Vista Installable (same one I might need to buy) that could make the upgrade, even if the Windows system being upgraded can not come?  IF this is NOT the case: what is an installable version upgrade of Windows 7?  or it is the sad reality that no matter what version of Windows I buy, I can't choose the 'Upgrade' option unless the installation is load/run Windows on the upgraded system?

From previous posts, I have all kinds of good advice on how to retrieve data on corrupted system files, so if there is no other alternative, I'll do it - but this is my last resort because:

b its a lot of your time working are going to extract all the files and

    (b) his work even more of your time then having to charge all third party software (including some I have no disks to install for more) if I find myself

having to do a clean install of Windows.

So, if there is no alternative to an upgrade - if I have to shell out some $$ for a new version of Windows, I prefer to do that.

    Appreciate all advice-

    Hello RDougShelton,

Take a look at the following article:

    Cleaning a compromised system
    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc700813.aspx

If there is a virus on that system, in other words, there is no way to be always sure that she has been completely removed outside of the shaping machine and put it back.

There is no guarantee that an inplace upgrade will fix this problem.

I recommend to backup your data you mentioned in your original post.

    Best regards

Hi all, hope you can help.

I have a Dell Dimension 3100 PC had corrupted files and so I decided to make a media center XP repair installation.

In the middle of the repair, the keyboard and mouse are not recognized (usb because there are no ps2 ports) and so I had to give up.

Now whenever the pc reboots it says "Setup reboots" and just gets to the same place where I have to use the keyboard and mouse.

I would prefer just to cancel, but I tried bootcfg /rebuild and fixboot, but they make no difference.

  • Windows XP Home Edition has lost drive of installation and CD Key - cannot repair windows (damaged WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM file)

I can't start Windows XP Home Edition at all - everything I try to do using the Advanced Options results in the same error message screen (Windows is not start because the following file is missing or corrupt...). I can't do a repair installation because my friend who has built my computer and installed my operating system lost the disc to install Windows XP Home Edition and the CD Key, I ordered. I can't find anyone else who has their record.

Is there a way I can fix the system without the authentic installation disk files? If not, is there a way I can receive a free/good Windows installation disc market replacement of Microsoft? Also, I don't want to lose any documents on my computer in the process.

    Thanks for the help!

Have you tried 'XP No Boot troubleshooting steps' sticky post at the top of this forum?

As this issues happens several times a day and your system falls into any category to start, why not start there and see if that helps?

The question was preceded by a loss of power, aborted reboot or abnormal termination?  (this includes pulling and buttons power)

These can cause corruption in the file system that must be fixed before you do anything else.

If none of these events occurred (or even if they have not taken place), you must verify the integrity of your file system before anything else (especially "try" things).

There is zero logic to start try to copy files to a hard drive with a corrupted file system so it must first be fixed using the XP chkdsk program and setting that may solve your problem completely, but you must start there.

Use the XP Recovery Console to check the file system on your HARD drive and fix the problems and then try to start your system - this may be all you need to do.  Or, you are welcome to just start trying things that might work.

Start the Recovery Console Windows using an XP bootable installation CD or create a bootable XP Recovery CD of Console.

This is not the same as recovery disks that may have come to a store to purchase the system.  If you don't know what kind of bootable CD, you, do a CD of bootable XP Recovery Console and do not forget.

You can create a bootable XP Recovery CD of Console when no XP CD is available by following the instructions in this link:

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic276527.html

After booting into the Recovery Console, you should be in this folder:

    C:\WINDOWS

For each of your hard disk partitions, you must then run:

    Chkdsk /r

For example, at the Recovery Console prompt, enter:

    CHKDSK c: /r

Let chkdsk finish to correct the problems, he could find.  It may take a long time to complete or seem to be 'glued '.  Be patient.  If the HARD drive light flashes, it's something.  Keep an eye on the amount of the percentage to be sure that it is still making progress.  It may even seem to go back sometime.

The chkdsk/r must be completed without error, you may need to run several times until it does.

Remove the CD, and then type "exit" to exit the RC and restart the computer.

  • How to repair severely damaged damaged audio?

I have some terrible with audio images (because of the way it was recorded), for some reason the microphone settings were incorrect for a segment of the video and I found myself with a lot of background and minimal noise audio audible. Unfortunately, I can't save this video once again and I need to work with what I have. I have read all the help and tried in many ways with the Prime Minister and sounbooth for this problem (a noise print capture, etc.), but it is simply the worst sound audio (something that I didn't know that was possible).

I was wondering if someone can help me solve this audio, thanks!

Levels are quite low, and it looks like it's probably too noise AC. Fortunately, you have a récitante (here), so could get lucky with some EQ works in the range of 250 to 500 Hz. You should be able to eliminate some of that noise ambient, without affecting the Audio speaker many - listen very, very carefully, then slowly, adjust as a side effect of the noise reduction is a hollow, echoing sound, and with the tone of his voice, do not think that this would be desirable.

Without going through the open WAV, I can only guess, but here would be my intended workflow:

Noise reduction - first capture a sample of the first part of the Clip profile (before the speaker with only ambient noise) that you posted and then apply the noise reduction process. Start below the value default ~-7dB (think that's the default, but it has been so long I've seen failure, that, well, my memory could be faulty - or defaulty?) and work upward. Listen very closely for ECHO, I warn you.

    Levels - I would look at Amplitude > amplify and probably around + 6 to + 9dB

EQ - we could approach things from two directions here. I probably watch Graphic EQ and work in the 250 Hz to 500 Hz range, with attenuation below ~ 120 Hz. Or, we can examine a Notch Filter, doing similar. Or a combination of both.

Low Pass - High Pass - probably a bit of both

    Compression - multiband compressor

    VST - DeEsser

Pitch Shifter - think think I would reduce his pitch, just a "skidgen" (very technical term means just enough, but probably not a lot...

Hearing is not THAT difficult to use program. However, it is extremely powerful, and tap into that power is another story completely. As I use it for Audio for my video, I must say that I am a 'beginner power. " I do a lot with it, but for a limited range of materials and operations. I have never scratched the surface of the potential, sound engineer would just take for granted. Yet, for what you need, I think that with the above mentioned tools and a lot of very attentive (good noise cancellation headphones are a must here), you can hit it pretty well.

Now, if you have Soundbooth, you have some of these tools, but don't think you have the noise reduction process, and it's a biggie.

Let me know how it goes and if you get stuck, don't hesitate to PM or email me: info AT huntphoto DOT com If you need for me to review the Audio, I can accept enough large attachments in e-mail, or you can use a service like YouSendIt. I'd be happy to give it a listen and try my hand and formatted it for you. I can take notes of what I do with the segment and those who share. If you like the result, it would be easy (yet critical listening), to just go down the steps.

    Good luck

    Hunt

PS - I see why reshooting isn't really an option, and dubbing of a speaker, who is a VP with Del Webb, probably isn't ideal, either I was hoping that you had a theatrical play and can hire just the actor/actress for an hour. So much for that idea.

  • Annoying behavior of cancellation.  Repairable?

Here's my biggest beast on Photoshop:

I am currently working on the layer A. I have select B layer in the layers palette, and then select the move (v) tool. I move the layer in XY (not the order of the layers). I release the mouse button.  I don't like where I put it, so I hit Undo. (Or not backwards in history)

Photoshop resets the position of layer B, , but then he selects also to new layer A! No, stay with layer B! I want to just move once again! This is particularly annoying when I have 100 + layers and layer A is on top and the B layer is down the bottom of the pile.  I have scrollscrollscroll to come back down to the B layer.

Is it possible to 'fix' it? Shouldn't the history Palette save this selection of layer as a step? To me, it seems that cancel really brings back TWO steps (reset the XY layer position and reselect the selected layer previously).

In fact, we who do it all the time (sat for a while with professionals and watch them work).

In addition, most of our developers is serious Photoshop users (photographers, painters, illustrators, etc.).

Photoshop don't is not developed in a vacuum.

What you describe is not a bug - just something that some people understand and some people aren't on the functioning of the history and cancellations.

As far as I know, he has been there for as long as history and cancellations have existed in Photoshop.

Well, the blue channel did some info let in. But of course, the skin is not look great in this channel. You might get away with integrating another photo if possible; If you have one with a similar pose, I would certainly use it. But the blue channel has enough information to make a picture of size beautiful cover and it's certainly better than what is there now.
