Cannot access my newly installed HARD drive

Hello

I just installed a terabyte 3 HARD drive that contains important files, but whenever I try to open it, requesting a computer to format the hard drive.

How can I recover these files without formatting computer HARD drive?

Window 32-bit XP can't access this drive as it uses the table to partition GUID (GPT) partitioning schΘma.  You need an operating system to 64-bit to access this drive, mount the drive in a computer running a 64-bit operating system or a network (NAS) capable of TPG storage device and then make available for Windows XP (share it from the 64-bit computer).  Windows XP 32 bits can work with discs MBR, MBR disks size limit is 2 terabytes.

  • Newly installed hard drive, cannot get the reinstallation of Windows 7 to the end

Hi all. My factory-issued Seagate 1 TB hard drive of origin provided with my PC Pavilion Elite HPE-240f failed a few months ago and I finally had time to fixation (rock a Pavilion dm4 laptop in the meantime, I'm not in a huge rush). I replaced it tonight with a Western Digital Blue 1 TB hard drive, which I know is Advanced Format.

I love HP platform minor changes in the the Windows 7 OS, I went ahead and tried to reinstall the OS of my recovery disks that I made when I got this PC. I checked the BIOS settings and the new hard drive WD IS recognized, the size is correct, etc. It has been configured in RAID with the SATA controller, and I tried to put out when the installation of the operating system initially lacked AHCI. It seems to be stuck in some kind of loop in the final configuration step, and I get out of the dialog box "Installation of Windows set up Windows to run on a hardware on this computer" could not. Hit Okay sends in reboot and after that I get a "Windows is unable to complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation"notice.

It makes me batty, and I really want my back office. This is a great machine, and as much as I love my laptop, it can't handle heavy programs like Photoshop or my multitasking fool. I managed to get the OS installed by forcing the system to bypass its system predefined through registry commands, but the important things were wrong, as Windows Update does not work, so I'll try to reset all with only recovery disks. So far, no go. I am extremely tired, frustrated, and it's late, so apologies for what I've left out or of typos. Any help on how to solve this problem is GREATLY appreciated.

Thank you very much for your response, @MechPilot. I actually found what I thought, it's perhaps the question a day or two before your answer: my computer was manufactured and purchased just before October 2010, which has been cut for restoration placed disks shaped for the drives non - Advanced Format. All the following which has been reformatted accordingly. I contacted HP and bought the replacement of the recovery discs (made in 2012), that I received yesterday. After several hours of nerves and finger-crossing, it worked like a charm. The operating system has successfully recovered, and I couldn't be happier!

I answer computer said of office right now, in fact! Thanks again.

  • Newly installed hard drive

Hey people! This is my first post, but I was already impressed by the professionalism in the forums. I hope someone can help.

The hard drive for Inspiron 6400 girlfriend crashed recently when I spilled Gatorade on it. I had the motherboard replaced (short circuit), then ordered a new SATA 120 GB HDD at 5400 RPM, which I installed myself. Now, I need to know how to restore the software preinstalled in the factory.

I have already fortmatted the hard drive, installed DellMediaDirect and installed Windows XP Service Pack 2. What's next?  I know this may sound simplistic, but I want all icons in basic programs, e.g. Internet Explorer, my computer, etc., is displayed on the desktop.

When I restored the old PC, they always had a CD that I pop in, click on through a few menus and, Viola, all software looks like it's the first time I booted up! Is there a way to do it with the Inspiron 6400, or I need to find and create shortcuts for each of these programs?

Thanks in advance for the help!

You were previously running Windows XP?

    You're still using Windows XP?

How was created the backup CD?

If you insert the CD in your CD drive and go to...
Start / Workstation... and right click on the drive
Letter it displays the directory for this drive...
the CD? If_Yes_ what are the files names which

If it was just a simple data CD... you can copy.
Paste the files in a folder on your hard drive.

  • Cannot access information on external hard drive in Garland

I have two FireWire G-drive hard daisy chained and connected to my iMac. I am able to access the information for once, but after a while I can't access information from it anymore.

For iPhoto libraries, he will say it is "Impossible to write in the"[name of library]"library." Check that you are allowed to write to the directory of the library.

When you try to move anything in the Finder, it will say "the operation cannot be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code-50).

So the temporary solution that worked so far is to stop the iMac, disconnect both drives, start the computer, and then connect again. This will cause growth to work again, but only for a time very short before send me mistakes once again.

PC under Windows 7: tried to install Photoshop CC and CC bridge on one drive other than C; Access problems: recommended by Adobe that I need to install in C:

Having ridden the C drive, I finally got access to Photoshop in uninstalling and reinstalling, even if I had to manually install a shortcut on the desktop.

I can't uninstall it from same bridge because it does not appear as a separate «Progs & Features» prog Attempts to install on the top are unsuccessful.

Creative cloud indicates that both applications are installed and updated. Setup logs shows also no error.

A shortcut desktop (no logo) takes me to the folder of the CC bridge, but there is no file of the application.

Any suggestion is welcome. I already lost a month on it.

  • Installation of SP3 on a newly formatted HARD drive

    Hello

I have a few questions about the installation of Windows XP Service Packs on newly formatted hard drives.

Recently I have formatted a new HARD drive and installed Windows XP Home Edition. In order to be upgraded to Service Pack 1 to 3, it is recommended to connect to Windows Update and download and install it from there. I did this and was prompted to install Service Pack 2. During the last steps of the installation (I think that durng the procedure of 'start process'), I lost Internet connectivity and was impossible to reconnect (I use a USB dongle. I think that a virus infection is interfering with the connection). That's why I had to restart my computer for the installation could be completed, but it seemed to be successful that I was able to reboot without any problem. I assume that the installation had actually finished and it was just reset stage that was interrupted.

Question: even if the installation of Service Pack 2 has not finished and my machine seems to be fine, reinstall Service Pack 2 in order to ensure that it is completely installed?

Question: Why should I install SP2? If Service Pack 3 contains all fixes and features of all previous Service Packs and it is acceptable to upgrade to Service Pack 1 to 3 directly, why didn't Windows Update invite me to install Service Pack 3 instead?

Question: I have found a manual download of Service Pack 3 (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=5b33b5a8-5e76-401f-be08-1e1555d4f3d4&displaylang=en), but Microsoft strongly recommends that use you it only on machines in a network, and not on a single computer. Y at - it hurt to do?

A question here, is that if Microsoft recommends that download the latest Service Packs of Windows Update online, so it seems not possible to fully guarantee your Windows installation before connecting the interest for the first time. All the while I'm software download and installation of Service Pack 2, malware, worms and viruses have been infecting my computer (Avast! blocked a malware exploit). So even if I managed to upgrade to Service Pack 3, my machine is already infected.

Is there a recommended way to upgrade to Service Pack 3 before you connect to the Internet for the first time?

    Thank you

    Tristan

  • Cannot read the old laptop hard drive attached again, says disk needs to be formatted

I am trying to up load my old laptop the laptop to my new computer hard drive so that I can access my old files, but it is endlessly with need to format the new device this will clear all data? It only allows me to open the old hard drive at all? Please help I really need to have access to my old hard drive through my new laptop I have no other way to get the information out.

    Hello

Yes if you format the drive it erases it's clean. Did you put the drive in the computer as the 2nd disc
If the computer still starts off the coast of its original disk? It's easier to do on a desktop.

You can save your files by putting the drive in another computer as a 2nd disk (best) or external
Drive USB enclosure and then backup to removable media such as CD, DVD or another USB
readers. Of course a real store of the computer or the manufacturer of your system can help to recover the files.

Or you can use a boot Ubuntu CD to back up data. (This can be done with the player in the)
original laptop. If the drive is viable (not totally dead).

Use Ubuntu Live CD to backup files from your Windows computer dead
    http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/Windows-Vista/use-Ubuntu-Live-CD-to-backup-files-from-your-dead-Windows-computer

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The reader might have been damaged and may not be easily accessible. There are professional
companies that can recover data off a dead drive if it is a costly process.
Check with a real computer store (one that makes its own service in the House and no leeks)
and displays a Best Buy or other stores) or system manufacturer support.

    I hope this helps.

I tried to repair my widows through the recovery console, but I was unable to open a session in my Windows through this procedure just stuck computer is there. even when I tried to fix it through the installation of windows, Setup also stuck on the step where it says "in search for earlier versions of windows."
now, I tried to copy the data by accessing another operating system on another hard drive but when I opened my account administrator located in the documents and settings folder, it says access is denied. I really need that data on these files is very important to me.
If you have an administrator password in windows, then the recovery console would need in order to log in the disk system, i.e. the c prompt.

If you tried to do a repair with the cd, then it may not have worked if your cd is the sp2 version of windows on your computer has been updated to sp3 version.  for the sp2 of xp cd works, you will need to uninstall the update to sp3 via Add/Remove programs.

so, now that you have enslaved the hard drive on another computer, you will need to do is try to take ownership of the files/folders:
