Cannot associate files InDesign INDD CC 2014 (Windows 7)

After update by 2014 CC, I noticed that my file associations for all of my creative Cloud applications have been pointing to the wrong places. I guess that's because the new updates are actually different versions of the application and installed as a completely separate apps. I was able to settle my PSD files and to point to their new CC 2014 counterpart very well, but when I tried to set the file association for the INDD file, I noticed that the type of file did not show upward in the list of the association of the file in the control panel Windows 7. So, instead I went directly in a file on my computer, clicked INDD, selected "open with...". ", click on"Browse... ". "and sailed to"InDesign.exe. "When I chose this and press OK, it didn't change the file association. Repeating the process did not help and now the only way to open an INDD file must drag and drop it into the workspace of InDesign CC 2014. After rebooting my computer, the INDD file type now appears in the list of the association of the file of the Windows 7 Control Panel, but it does not always change the association.

Uninstall versions prior to Windows after you HAVE installed the new version will kill you associations in many cases.

Reinstall a new one is easy to fix.

  • Cannot access files on hard disk on windows xp, after I worked with it on win 7.

Cannot access files on external hard drive on windows xp, after that I worked with him on Victory 7.I can see the file, but he says "is not accessible. access is denied. " Can someone help me?

As you can guess, this is a permissions problem.  Here, it makes a difference if you have XP Home or Pro you have to safe boot mode to change permissions in the House.

My crystal ball says that your external drive is formatted with the NTFS file system.  When you connected to Windows 7 (or any other computer besides), the files have been added that this user permissions apparently understood that only Win 7 has access to.  There are several ways to handle this...

Is to save on all your files and reformat the external hard drive with a FAT32 file system and then support files.  You will have no problems of permissions with FAT32, but you can't have any higher than 4 GB single file either.

Another way is as an administrator, to 'Ownership' of all the files on the disk
"How appropriate a file or a folder in Windows XP"
but this could get old if the drive moves back.

Yet another approach is to give "Everyone" full access to everything on the drive.  This may or may not protect against new folders or files added, but may be worth a try:
As a user administrator, open a command window:
    Start-> Run-> "cmd".
    Then, enter the command:
    CACLS E:\/t/e/c/g everyone: F
(where I am assuming that your external drive is mounted as "E:" - change of real player)

I hope that something more top is useful...

There is some malware that causes this problem. We will, first of all make sure that your computer is not infected. Download, install, update and perform a full scan with Malwarebytes. View results, then we will know which path from there.

  • Publisher cannot access file InDesign in InCopy CC, while the designer is in the same folder with InDesign CC

    Hello

    That's the problem we have

When a designer opens a file that is stored on a network through InDesign InDesign share, and an editor trying to open the same InDesign file in InCopy, the error message "this file is already opened by another user or another application. This file can be stored on a network server and cannot be opened until the other user closes it."is displayed. To work around this problem, the designer must close the file in InDesign, and the editor should open the InDesign file in InCopy before the designer will again open the InDesign file using the InDesign application. This issue does not appear in 9.1. Adobe support said that the files are not at the same time in InCopy and InDesign, but it is the function that the product has been designed to accomplish and this problem has never happened before. The files are stored on a network share.

    dcf6d27e7fc58f50e8f8d1781df0753c.jpeg

In addition, when an editor is updating an InCopy assignment and a designer click the transfer of update to update their view from InDesign, the error message "the content is locked and cannot be modified." appears. If the designer click OK, the display is updated as expected. This happens even is the assignment is NOT checked out by another user.

    aa1f3400f4f3a8e22c68e970cd7b81b4.jpeg

Finally, if a designer adds or updates a graph in a file using InDesign InDesign while the editor is editing the file using InCopy, the editor using InCopy is not update unless they completely shut out of the InCopy application and re-open it, which, because of the above problems is not possible. The only way that the file can be edited in InCopy is the designer to close completely out of the file, for publishers to close, and then reopen in InCopy, how the designer can reopen the case. If some editors are away from their office at the time of the update, the whole process must be repeated so that they are able to open the latest version of the file in InCopy.

This question seems to be due to a significant flaw in the 9.2 update version for InDesign, as none of these issues took place before the 9.2 update. A computer currently always has version 9.1 of InDesign to our company and does not have these problems, we lead with 9.2. We tested several configurations of our network trying to deviate from our network as the problem, but the only case in which we experience these problems is when we use InDesign version 9.1.  Also, we never had this problem before the update of InDesign and InCopy 9.2

    Thank you!

Graham, thank you for this detailed post and screenshots. A group of my friends InCopy customers alerted me on the question and pointed me to this thread. I have passed along some products Adobe InDesign/InCopy and engineers and leaders hope to see their responses here soon (and a fix, fingers crossed).

In the meantime, the workaround that is not * too * expensive is to use assignments. InCopy users on 9.2 can open assignments without a question, as I can tell. If you use a workflow based on the layout (like most of my clients), all this means, is that you have your opinion of designers one more step when preparing their ID file and that is, to create an assignment which is the * entire * InDesign file, actually it backwards in a layout-based workflow.

They create the transfer by clicking the new posting at the bottom of the assignments Panel, no need to enter anything in the "assigned to:"on the ground or to change other settings, ensuring that InDesign records in the file of the project to the server. "

Say they called the assignment "April Issue." If they have already exported stories, simply drag the InCopy content not affected on the April outcome category in the category and then update the assignment (they can right-click on it to update, or choose update assignments in the Panel menu). If they export more/news stories, ask them to export them or drag and drop to this assignment even.

Notify your users of InCopy do not open the INDD file more. Make them rather go to assignments folder (automatically created ID) project folder and open the assignment file. "April Issue.icma" in this example.

Multiple InCopy users open the same file transfer simultaneously, just as they could open the same INDD file simultaneously. They have nevertheless check stories in and out as usual. Always only one user of InDesign can open the file at a time.

The only other change in the workflow is that the designer will have to remember to always update the assignment of each change. Save the changes to the InDesign file does not automatically update the assignment file (ICMA). They might want to assign a keyboard shortcut to this command.

  • Cannot open file InDesign 5.5 in CS5.5

We have received a set of files a designer that has been created in CS5.5 InDesign.  I just tried to open the indd on our cell phone production, using InDesign CS5.5 and I get an error message "CannotConvertNewerDocument".

I don't understand why what is happening - I tried searching forums but can't seem to find someone else with the same question.  Has anyone encountered this?

The laptop is running Windows 7.

    Thank you

As Bob says it's CS6. Your computer does not have CS6, if Windows tells you its CS5.5 because it's the only thing he knows.

Upgrade to CS6, or ask your provider to export files to .idml for you.

  • I cannot associate files with Adobe Photoshop CC

Since the installation of Photoshop CC, I can't associate jpg or psd Photoshop CC. I used the "open with...". "dialogue box (something I've done a million times, so I know what I'm doing), but after choosing Photoshop, it does not appear in the list of recommended programs or other and will not open the jpg or psd file in Photoshop.

FYI, I installed Photoshop CC while Photoshop CS6 was still on my computer. I then uninstalled Photoshop CS6 and that's when I noticed the problem.

    Please help... it's extremely frustrating.

    Thank you!!!

I THINK I FOUND THE CAUSE DEEP AND SOLUTION *.

After looking at the new HKEY_CURRENT_USER user registry and compare it to that of the original user, I found a registry value that has not changed and should have been.

    I found a key:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Applications\Photoshop.exe\shell\open\command

This key has been set on the path to Photoshop CS6 when it should have been set to Photoshop CC.

In other words, in my case, it has been fixed:

    "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64 Bit) \Photoshop.exe" '%1 '.

When I changed the CS6 for a CC, in other words, if the whole key reads:

    "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC (64 Bit) \Photoshop.exe" '%1 '.

    Everything works perfectly now.

There is no doubt this is a bug in the installer and I imagine it's going to hit anyone who updated since CS6 CC. The solution is simple if you are comfortable with editing the registry, but it should be fixed in the installation program. He is an Adobe bug, pure and simple.

If you create a new user, because there is no key for HKEY_CURRENT_USER he created correctly.

I want to thank pbody01 for pointing me in the right direction and I'm curious to see if this fix works for other people. And hey, just because... Be sure to make a backup, and especially to export the registry before go you there.

  • Cannot copy files (xcopy or robocopy) of Windows server 2003 to Windows 7 machine

    Greetings.

As it says above, I can't get this copy to work.

I tried both xcopy and robocopy, xcopy in a batch file or manually and robocopy under scheduled tasks.

I want to copy from the X drive, a drive I mapped to the directory on the Server 2003 machine to a folder c:\backup on the 7.

I have ensured that I use other identification information (the account admin on the box of the server).

I can manually copy between records very well but if I run xcopy or robocopy I see flash upward, as if it works (especially if I add a flag to break) and I get no error message but no copies are made.

    The command I use is:

    Robocopy x:\*.* c:\backup /zb /mir /s

I tried with and without different flags and still the same result.

    Please notify.

    Thank you in advance.

You have the wrong syntax for RoboCopy.  Here is an example of correct syntax:-

    ROBOCOPY "D:\Documents" "J:\Destination" /MIR

The sample will copy all the Documents folder and its subfolders by symmetry in the Destination the J external drive folder.

I use the 'just by habit.  They are not necessary unless there are spaces in the name of the folder-file.

You had *. * in your syntax.  RoboCopy works on entire not on files folders, that's why it's not necessary.

  • Cannot open files in PS cc 2014

Hello everyone. I'm out of a strange and serious problem. I can't open pdfs great curtain. I get this error message. Screen Shot 2014-09-15 at 9.10.51 AM.png Sounds strange because I have 16 GB of ram on my Imac. The other strange thing is that I made this file in this version of photoshop. It does not effect or of the same color. It is simply an edited map of a floor plan with a few layers. Anyone know why this is happening? I really need to find a quick solution because I can't do a lot of work without Photoshop.

In your screenshot, you show that you allow Photoshop to use 100% of installed RAM.

Please keep in mind that your OSX operating system must also RAM to run.

Try to set Photoshop to allow him to use 80% or more and see if things clear up.

  • Cannot move the Indesign files in my cloud space

Cannot move files Indesign, or IDML versions, in the space of my cloud. Tried it on the home and Office PC, I tried different files of ID. It is a major problem for my workflow. Help!

If you use the Internet Explorer browser, it does not support "drag and drop" upload or download of several files. I suggest using Firefox or Chrome browsers.

There is also a download button, you can use (new IE does support multiple file upload).
