Cannot attach a USB device

Thank you for reading. I can't attach a USB to a guest Vmserver V2 O\S I added the connect the USB controller to the automobile, but the device appear in Server 2008 'My computer' comments or disk management.

If you look at the tab of the device (next to VMware Remote Console) it shows a DVD player also connected a network card although it shows a Feyia mass storage device and a webcam that both in gray.

I don't know if the mass storage device Feyia is vmware or even ACER, the webcam driver is Acer!

Thank you

Paul

Hello

Is your guest during the liberation of material 7?

When you select the guest in the inventory of the web user interface, the usb symbol appears near the top of the screen?  If Yes, when you click on it, can you see and select the usb memory key.  Once clicked, it must be connected to your guest, and you should see that it is setup in the usual way.

  • Cannot stop a USB device due to some unknown program running.

If I can't stop a device USB due to some unknown program running (like a virus), how can I find the program, so that I can stop it with the Task Manager?

    Hello

The message (this device is currently in use. Close any programs or windows that might be using the device, and then try again) is usually the result of an application, file, open the document, audio or video, or any other application is being used (ranging from the USB key) when you try to remove it by clicking Remove the device safely in the notification area.

The error can also be caused if your anti-virus is actively followed / analyze the USB drive. Normally, where the withdrawal of a USB flash drive, Windows must stop all operations of reading / writing on the disk so that it can be removed safely. If this is not the case, the flash player may be damaged or lost or corrupted data. However, if Windows determines that a file is in use, it can then provide a message that indicates the volume cannot be stopped now.

So, before to eject or unplug a mass storage device, make sure that none of these activities are performed on the mass storage device before ejecting.

    A cut-off device

Most USB devices can be removed and unplugged. When the fact of unplugging storage devices, such as USB flash drives, make sure that the computer has finished saving all the information on the device before removing it. If the device has an activity light, wait a few seconds after the light has finished flashing before unplugging.

If you see the icon remove the device safely in the tray on the side right of the bar tasks, you can use it as an indication that devices have finished all operations in progress and are ready to be removed. Click the icon and you will see a list of devices. Click the device you want to remove. Windows will display a notification to tell you that it is safe to remove the device.

I also suggest you make a system full scan just to be sure.

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.
  • Satellite A100-991 - cannot boot from USB device

My Satellite A100-991 (MS Windows XP MCE, SP3) does not start from a USB key or USB hard drive. The same USB devices are bootable if they are connected to a desktop computer or a laptop from other manufacturers. I put the USB as the first boot device and use an image "Bart PE" on my USB device.

In fact, I have installed 2.10 Phoenix Bios version and I wonder if I could update the BIOS by using the 'sa105v21.exe' program and that this would resolve the startup problem.

    Hello

Have you tested different USB keys? I think that your current USB key is not compatible
Also test the USB to different USB ports. A port may be defective for the computer to start t with him.

Theoretically, you can try upgrading the BIOS but don t forget s a bit more risky and it should be the last step.
Prior to this, load default settings in the BIOS and check if you can boot from USB.

If BitLocker stopped during the encryption process, then you need to repartition and format the USB device, and then restore your backup files.

  • Cannot see the usb device manager devices or windows Explorer.

I use windows 7 64-bit. I have a certain external drives connected vis USB everything works OK when lit.

I have a video camera Digital Sony connected to usb, which gives a 'bong' sound to indicate that it is connected, but I do not see in windows Explorer or disk management. The camera itself acknowledges that it has been connected to my PC OK. I tried the camera using usb different positions, still no visibility? Help, please!

Have you selected the right mode of the camera for connectivity? For example, the PictBridge and mass storage mode are usually present in a camera. If not select any mode, Windows shows a device is connected, but it cannot access anything whatsoever to the camera.

Also, have you tried to change the cable?

Can I add this USB device to my virtual guest later in VMware Player?

I feel like the installation of VMware Workstation for just add this USB device installation. I have no experience of using VMware Player. I've always had of VMware Workstation to support me in everything I've done, that's why I ask.

I can only imagine that maybe VMware Player will limit to deal with the addition of devices/units, but what is the truth?

Peripheral USB themselves act as plug-and-play.  As long as you have configured the virtual computer to have a USB controller and have installed the drivers (via VMware Tools) in the comments, you can attach any USB device to the guest with workstation, player, server, Fusion, etc..

Workstation already includes the UI player interface so that you can test your VMS how they will be displayed to users who have installed Player.  There should be a shortcut installed for it.  You can run your VM via player INTERFACE and to answer to your question here, I think.

  • Satellite A200: Cannot properly use external USB devices

I encountered a problem with my Toshiba laptop and I can't fix it, and I'm in need your help please...
The problem is that when I connect a USB portable device (an external hard drive, USB, iPod, Flash memory... etc) with more than 8 GB of memory...
It is not properly installed in the Device Manager and appears under "USB bus controllers.

But it does not say that it is an unknown device. It normally appears with his name, but he is not properly installed (it does not say that either) where it is supposed to be a camera under "imaging devices" in a specific category (hard drive under "drives"), and so on

And I can't use the unit because the HARD disk does not appear in 'My computer' and my iPod cannot be used

I would like to inform you that this problem is with all USB devices with more than 8 GB of memory.
Not a single device. I tried a lot of features to ensure that it is not a problem with the unit.

So this is a problem with my laptop and I installed Windows several times but no progress.
Thanks for your help in advance...

    Hello Ann,.

If it is a laptop computer, shut down Windows and remove the battery and the power supply of the PC.

Wait a few minutes, and then reconnect the battery and start Windows.

Plugin your device to see if it works, without the hub.

I also tried to move the receiver to the other 2 ports USB w / still the same results.

Are there other downloads or solutions that will help w / this problem?

You can also try searching for devices strangers (with yellow symbols) in the Manager under the mouse devices and other pointing devices and other devices (if any). Right click and uninstall unknown devices. Then restart.

Also try the steps below to reset the power of USB:
    (a) the laptop off, unplugged from the wall outlet.
    (b) remove the battery for a few minutes, then reinstall it.
    (c) then restart the laptop.
