Cannot open "Settings Manager" on Chrome

Says I need Flash installed, but it is definitely installed and active.  I'm trying to reset licenses to try to resolve problems with playback on HBOGO.

I think the problem was the "HTTPS Everywhere" extension!

    Ok

Is this a normal behavior of the default Windows 7? If so, how to launch mmc or not if yes, how can I find the setting that causes this message?

I found the parameter restrict access, which has been the Local computer policy > User Configuration > administrative templates > Windows components > Microsoft Management Console > prevent the user from author, Enabled.

When I turned this option off, I could run mmc.

  • Cannot open the PDF in Chrome, impossible to open the standalone player, cannot accept the EULA, etc..

    I use a Mac.

I try to open a PDF in Chrome - I open it fine in Adobe Reader if I download it. When I open it in Chrome, I get the message I have to accept the EULA and revive to open the PDF in Chrome.

I reinstalled Adobe, restarted Chrome and it works fine in Safari.

When I go to the applications folder and try to open Adobe Reader (which is different from opening a PDF file I recorded on my Mac). The menu bar appears but is not the "Adobe" "empty" file - nothing happens but the menu bar.

I searched all the stinking forums and nothing seems to work. It seems to be a persistent problem dealing with simple workarounds.

For example, I tried: Version of Adobe Reader X 10.1.3 - cannot open a PDF in the browser... - does not work

How can I get Reader to open on its own and accept the EULA?

    First remove the following files:

    (i) adobe Reader of / application

(II) in the folder/Library/Internet Plug - Ins:

    (1) AdobePDFViewer.plugin

    (2) AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin

    (III) from ~/Library/Caches

    (1) com.adobe. *.

Now reinstall Adobe Reader. And launch the reader Application. Here come the EULA. Accept that and now you will be able to open PDFS in Safari.

Chrome is a browser not supported for Reader/Acrobat. You can check this in the Adobe release notes.

  • Cannot open Task Manager - it is said that an administrator has blocked it's use.

It's been a while since this happened.  I just found this service, so I would ask.  I used to use program manager frequently.  Then I had a security breach? virus? - and when I try to bring up the program manager now, the message basically says that my administrator has blocked my useage.  This is a private computer with no administrator but myself.  I tried to log in as 'Administrator' but still got the same message and not able to open the program manager.  Any help?

If you see things like this:

You do not have sufficient security privileges to restore your system.
The System Restore tab is missing from the my computer properties.
System Restore has been disabled by group policy.  To turn on system restore, contact your domain administrator.
The System Restore tab is available, but the turn off System Restore (disabled by Group Policy) box is grayed out.
The task manager has been disabled by your system administrator.
The registry editor has been disabled by your system administrator.
The task manager has been disabled by group policy.
The registry editor has been disabled by group policy.
The command prompt has been disabled by your administrator.  Press a key to continue...
The operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer.  Please contact your system administrator.
The "Run" option is missing from the start menu.
The option "Log off."... ' is missing from the Start Menu.
Add or remove programs hs are limited.  Please check with your administrator.

The usual advice are something in the sense of "something has been disabled in the group policy...". ", and it is probably true that something has been disabled, but you know what something is and what it takes to do about it.

If you are using XP Home Edition, you will get away with advice to use the Group Policy Editor, because there is no Group Policy Editor in XP Home and that really doesn't tell you where to look in group policy, even if you run the Group Policy Editor.

You need a complete solution that works for all versions of XP and requires no hunting around in the Group Policy Editor or registry to find where things are that have been disabled.

Unless you have disabled these things on purpose, chances are good that your system has a malware infection.  The malware knows what tools you use to try to find and remove, for the malware disables the things you are more likely to consume and prevents them from running if you can't find the malware and remove it.

If your system has this kind of affliction, all malicious software tools you currently use or have used failed to protect your system so that you can expand your horizons malware detection and prevention to prevent these kinds of afflictions in the first place.

The malware will be happy you trick into thinking that you need to so something drastic to fix your system - as a facility repair, system restore point or a total reinstallation of XP.  This is what it would be like you, but these measures are not necessary.

You must solve the immediate problem of the tools does not, then scan your system for malware when you are finished.

No matter what kind of malware you've used analytical tools, they are unlikely to solve this problem, because they cannot tell if the changes made to your system have been on purpose (you or an administrator who makes them) or some malware changed them, so the analysis tools will let these things alone (it's usually a good thing).

If your system is afflicted in this way, there are probably other things that also do not work - like the registry editor, System Restore and the command prompt, so fix them all at once even if you have not discovered they are broken again.

These commands from registry removes the registry entries that are stop opening programs.  Although the registry entries do not exist, these commands are safe to run and will work for all versions of XP.

Before making any changes to your registry, back up the registry with this free and popular tool:

Save the new text file with extension .reg on your desktop or somewhere you can remember with a name you can remember, something like:

    enableit.reg

After you save the file, close Notepad.

Locate the file enableit.reg on your desktop and double-click it.

Alternatively, you can right-click on the enableit.reg file, choose open with... and select the registry editor.

Answer in the affirmative to the question... Are you sure you want to add the information in the registry?

You should then see a message that information has been registered in the register.

    Reboot your system and test.

You can delete the enableit.reg file when you are finished.

If the registry editor has also been disabled, we first fix (not a problem).

  • Laptop HP 15-R204NE: cannot open Device Manager?

    Hello

I'm having the following problem when I try to open the Device Manager:

He asked the permission of the Microsoft Management Console before giving me this message.

This started happening after I installed and uninstalled multiple copies of Visual Studio and MS Office, because I had problems. My laptop is passed to control drive C before starting to check for errors and repair them.

Can someone provide a fix for the problem please?

    I highly appreciate the help.

    Kind regards.

The extent of the corruption of files on your system may be beyond any simple diagnosis and repair.

I think your only option now is the restoration of the system, a repair or re - install. Restoration of the system from an earlier date is easier, even if you indicated that you do not want to. If you do not have the support of HP Recovery then your Windows recovery options are explained here:

  • Cannot open COM1. Please check your port settings, XP SP3

    Hello
I have some XP SP3 workstations that are used in the factory.  The shell of charge is attached to COM1.  When I test the appliance to make sure that all devices work, the shell load test will not open COM1.  When I use HyperTerminal to test COM1, I get the message "cannot open COM1. Please check your port settings. "I checked the BIOS of a workstation and compare it to the non-working station.  Corresponding to all of the information correctly.  When I check property COM1 resources, the station problem looks identical to the right station and no conflicts.  IRQ 04 corresponds to the current setting.  To get the workstation resurfaced to open COM1, I open COM1 properties, resource tab, uncheck and then re-check "use automatic settings" with your status to uncheck.  After having double checked the "use automatic settings", I click OK.  I then go back to see what the parameters are.  He changed his IRQ 07.  This change works until the computer has been restarted , and then the following steps must be applied again.  Also, if I perform these same steps on a workstation, I get the same results with the change IRQ.  I don't have the problem with com except COM1 ports.  We use the software in a box.  Change to use another com port is not an option.

  • Cannot open COM1. Please check your port settings

I have some XP SP2 workstations that are used in the factory.  I use Clonezilla to reimage the workstations (Yes, we have valid licenses for all units) where you have to replace a hard drive or have warranty work that requires a new installation.  We have put arrangements in place on the specified comm ports.  The printer is connected to COM1.  When I test the appliance to make sure that all devices work, the test of the printer will not open COM1. To get the desktop put open COM1, I open COM1 properties, resource tab, uncheck and then re - check the box "Use automatic settings" without applying the Statute to uncheck.  After having double checked the "use automatic settings", I click OK.  I then go back to see what the parameters are.  He changed his IRQ 07.  This modification works until the computer has been restarted so the following steps must be applied again.  Also, if I perform these same steps on a workstation, I get the same results with the change IRQ.  I don't have the problem with comm except COM1 ports.  We use the software in a box.  Change to use a different comm port is not an option.

It seems that the cloning process is causing the problem.  Clonezilla is fast and reliable with the exception of what seems to be a problem of comm port.  I'm looking for someone who can tell me what settings can I change to make COM1 to work without having to go through additional steps after the workstation is restarted.

    Thank you

  • When I try to get on IE or Chrome or any web show I get a message saying 'Paint' cannot open this type of file

I have windows turns on, but when I try to access a browser it has a message for me that "Painting" cannot open this type of file... Even when I try to get on a web view... Even some of my icons resemble small paint pads. Really weird and I make a living on my PC so I don't know what to do. I tried to recover, and he said the same thing... When I go on FB it says I need to update my browsers and it wont let me update all the. I can't really do anything without this message coming... Now, I just got a message from windows Security Center that will not start security... It has to do with a bitmap file

Looks like you have somehow your file types of website related ('open with') the Paint program.  I couldn't begin to guess how this happened, but here's how to fix this:

Use the search box to find and open the settings to "Default programs", then scroll down and click "Choose default app settings.  Which opens the control panel 7-style old instead.  Click on your browser in the list, and then click "Set as default" for re - include all types of possible files that the browser again.

  • Used to install Flash Player - said the Flash Player Settings Manager is open

I can't install Flash Player on my Win7 64 bit PC. When you run the installation from the download page, I just get the error 'failed to install - unknown error. "If I run the installation of the stand-alone installer I get the message"Open Flash Player Settings Manager"and an"exit"button

I don't know what is the Flash Player Settings Manager or where to find it. It seems certainly not 'open', anywhere where I can see.

There was a discussion on this topic. The solution that many people found useful is:

    1. look for the "FlashPlayerCPLApp.cpl" file in the following folders:

    On systems 32 - bits, C:\Windows\system32

    On 64 - bits, C:\Windows\syswow64 systems

    2 delete this file.

If you do not have permission to remove the same, use a third party application like Unlocker. (http://www.emptyloop.com/unlocker/)

    3. try to install or uninstall.

    Thank you
