  You need the codec appropriate to do so. I think that QuickTime can be read natively. Or you can search free converters to translate them into a format that WMP will play.

  Please relay the e-mail program you use.  You can also try to save the file directly on your local computer, and then check if the file is being read correctly. • Cannot play flash videos in Firefox

  I am unable to play content flash facebook or CNN video. I use Firefox 31 and Flash 14.0.0.179 (32-bit) running Windows 7 Pro. I also have the 64-bit version installed for use with internet explore. These videos play fine in internet explorer but not in Firefox. Videos CNN stopped play in Firefox months ago and Facebook stopped in recent days.

  I started Firefox in safe mode, reset Firefox, uninstalled and reinstalled flash and uninstalled and reinstalled the latest version of realplayer (found this suggestion online). So far, nothing worked.

  Just CNN videos freeze once the Player control bar appears at the bottom of the frame. Advertising plays, but it hangs at the start of the video of actual news.

  Facebook displays the thumbnail for the video (no AutoPlay as it does in IE will) and when you click it you get the pop-up window with the user comments for the right, but just a black square where has to play the video.

  If I right click and go to settings for flash, when I click on disable hardware acceleration, it reactivates it as soon as I click on close on the setting screen. When I return to the parameters of the box is checked again.

  Copy what is between the = lines, paste into a new Notepad document and save it as "helpsvc.reg" on the desktop.  Including the quotes in the name of the file if the notebook does not add '.txt' at the end of the file name.  If so, just remove the .txt from the file name extension.   When you open the video files that display thumbnails, the codec is used to create the thumbnail for the videos it decodes. A work around for this is to change the display of files of other tiles. You can try to reinstall your codecs or download other codecs, do a google search and download only from trusted sites. You might have added new video file formats, and you need the codec for this video format.

  Try disabling UAC.
  If the problem handles Disabling UAC uninstall all third-party plugins or codecs, sounds like a WMP plant where he has no administrator rights.

  How to turn off UAC?
  Click Start > Control Panel > accounts user and family safety > user accounts > select your username > then click on change user account control settings and uncheck the box. Restart your computer for this setting to take effect.

  It works for the other connections on this machine.  So, with the worries of shrinking to s/o the origin of the problem,

  I saved my files and re-created a new account.  The new account works fine, so I deleted the old account.

  I really don't know why this has happened given I have not installed the brand new s/w recently.

  You may experience this problem if you have the missing codecs to read video files.

  To resolve this problem, install the codec required to play the digital media file. After you install the required codec, try to read the files.

  Note You can import digital media files encoded by a third-party codec, if the third-party codec is installed on the computer.
