Cannot start Office applications after Windows Update. Clear side-by-Side error caused by the file of damaged

Windows Update automatically ran yesterday on my Vista 64 Home Premium SP1 system.  Today, I can't run any Office Applications. I get an error popup that says: "the application failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Check the log of events applications for more details. »
I learned how to use Event Viewer and found that a mistake by-side happening and a manifest file has been altered.
The file is: x86_microsoft.vc80.crt_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_8.0.50727.3053_none_d08d7bba442a9b36

Where can I get a clean copy of this file?  It is just a simple XML file.  Do a system restore is not good.

Hello Astroguy,

Thank you for your response back!

Good to know that you have done a repair install.  What I would do is run the SFC scan, because you performed the installation of repair recently the chances are that the SFC scan should be good.  If there is a problem, it will signal you when finished.

Then I would go to Windows Update to check if he has new updates and/or try to update all those who did not.  If you still get the updates that do not please let us know what he's trying to put up-to-date and error.

  • Cannot start Metro applications after updating but IE - Windows 8

    Hello everyone.

As I said in the title of the topic, I can't launch Metro apps once I updated my laptop. I tried all of the solutions that I can find: sfc, diagcab, etc. And the worst part is that none of the solutions I've tried works (no, not even to make a new account because I can not fire the laptop settings).

I hope someone can give me a solution without having to reset/format because I have a lot of important files on this laptop and I have nothing to back this up.

Here are some photos and a video to explain more: video

    Hello

    Welcome to the Microsoft community.

You may experience this problem if the system files are corrupted or due to changes in the resolution of the screen on the desktop. I want you to know some basic information for the modern user interface to work properly on Windows 8 / 8.1:

    > User account control settings need to be enabled.
Note: User Account Control (UAC) notifies you before changes are made to your PC that requires administrator-level permission. By default, UAC is set to warn you as soon as apps try to make changes to your PC, but you can change how often UAC notifies you.
    > To align the apps, you need at least 1366 x 768 screen resolution.
    > Requires Microsoft account.

Follow these methods and check if that helps:

Method 1: brand 'x' in the lower right of the app. This behavior may be the result of a problem or error when an app package has been installed or injected into the Windows 8 or 8.1 image, or it may be the result of the outdated software. Follow the steps in this article:

Windows 8 app tiles have an 'x' in the lower right corner

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/2832072/en-us

Also, try changing the minimum screen resolution of 1024 x 768 and check if it helps:

Get the best display on your monitor

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-in/Windows-8/get-best-display-monitor

If the problem persists, proceed to the next method.

Method 2: Try installing the latest graphics card drivers and check. I also suggest to visit the manufacturer of computer technical support site and install the latest graphics drivers.

    Download and install the drivers

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-in/Windows-8/all-drivers

If the problem persists, proceed to the next method.

Method 3: Run the Troubleshooter of Apps. This tool can automatically identify and fix problems with the applications.

Note: This utility automatically corrects some problems that may prevent your running applications, including the suboptimal screen resolution and security or incorrect account settings.

Please consult the following link for troubleshooting if the troubleshooter does not help:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-8/what-troubleshoot-problems-app

If the problem persists, proceed to the next method.

Method 4: I suggest you run the tool (SFC.exe) System File Checker and check if it helps. The tool (SFC.exe) System File Checker scans missing or system corrupted files and repairs them.

Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files

  • Presario SR5507F does not start for Vista after "Windows Update"

One of my friends has a Compaq Presario SR5507F. She is old and doesn't know much about computers. She told me she had a message that an update of Windows was necessary, so she hit 'continue' and walked away. When she came back, the computer was restarted on a screen, she had never seen before: a black screen, with the 'C' and "Compaq" logo in red in the Center, with " and " on the lower left and " and v5.27 ' on the bottom right side.

I checked to make sure that the keyboard was solidly connected - the NumLock lights etc flash momentarily when the computer starts.

We have tried pressing ESC, F10 and F11, in various methods: turn on the computer, and then hit the button, turning on the computer using the button is pressed, turn on the computer and repeatedly hit the key, etc.. All had the same result - the screen with the logo of Compaq, and nothing else happens.

I know that some on computers, but that me stem.

Of course, she didn't know she should do a set of recovery discs, is not so... she.

If anyone has any ideas, I'd be happy to hear.

    Hi biolabprof01,

Sorry to hear about the sentence. There are a number of things to try. First, try the procedure described in this HP support document on Vista won't start do not.

If you can, try to perform a System Restore or System Recovery.

If you still cannot start and cannot access the System Recovery Wizard, you can order HP recovery disks (see the section on CD - ROM order page).

    Hello.

Two nights ago, I left my computer for updating all night. There was a large number of updates (around 35 I think). After a few seconds my monitor starts up and coming fashion "sleep" on every 1/2 second (video source detected).

  • Problems after Windows Update on Vista wireless

It seems that other people have a similar problem, but I'll post this new...
I've been running Windows Vista Ultimate on my Toshiba laptop for years without any problems.  Earlier this year, I started seeing issues after Windows updates.  The main problem is that after updates Windows, my wireless network is is more noticed and the wireless card (which was installed on the computer, and never had problems before) is not recognized.  I manually installed updated drivers with no luck.  The only thing that has worked is to do a system restore to a point before the updates.  The problem seems to be related to an update in general, I can't uninstall.

I find it extremely ironic that I have no problems with Vista until Windows 7 is launched. First of all, it's the wireless card, then a problem with a driver graphics card (apparently... which seems to be fixed now) and return to the wireless card.  Should I expect to continue to have problems unless I upgrade to Windows 7?  I can't continue to spend half of my day trying to fix my computer after an update that is supposed to fix the errors, but I don't like the feeling that I am forced to upgrade.

    Hi dabaum77,

From your post, it seems that the issue was occurring when Windows updates are installed automatically again even after the restoration of the system and that is why I suggest to restore the system again to a point before the updates and download and install Windows updates manually.

    Access the link below
Follow these steps to disable the automatic updates:

    1. open Windows Update by clicking the Start button. In the search box, type Update, and then in the list of results, click Windows Update.
    2. in the left pane, click on change settings.
    3. under important updates, choose the option you want.
    4. under recommended updates, select the Give me recommended updates the same way I receive important updates check box, and then click OK. Need administrator permission if you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Install the updates one by one and check the update is causing the problem to occur. If the problem persists due to a particular update, repeat the process and refrain from settling the problem causing the update to.

You can also check the update problem in Windows Update history.

Follow the steps to check which day caused the issue:

    1. open the control panel (all items view), and click the Windows Update icon.

    2. click on the link to view update history.

    3. to view the details of a single Windows Update-
    (A) select and right-click on a Windows Update list, and then click details.

    (B) click on close when finished.

You can also uninstall the update that is causing the problem to occur, although it is not recommended.

    1. to uninstall a Windows Update, you must go to programs and features. There are several ways to find it. One of the simplest is to use the search box on the start menu.

    2. in the programs and features, click the link updates installed.

    3. after a few seconds, Windows Vista will load the list of installed updates. Scroll down the page until you find the update you want to delete, select it with the mouse and then click on uninstall.

    4. Windows Vista will ask you to confirm that you want to uninstall the update you selected. Click Yes and the uninstall process will begin.

5 depending on the size of the update, the uninstall process may take from several seconds to several minutes.

    6. wait for the window above will disappear and, if necessary, restart your PC. The update is now deleted.

I have Windows vista Ultimate edition. but he started asking for activation after the windows update while it has already been activated before the update.

    Hello, Pichon,

If Windows Vista application unexpected activation

On rare occasions, you may be prompted to activate Windows Vista on a computer that did not previously require Windows Vista activation or has already been activated successfully. For example, this may occur on a computer on which Windows Vista was preinstalled by an OEM installation or Volume licensing and are major hardware changes occurred, such as upgrading the hard disk and memory at the same time.

If you are prompted to reactivate Windows Vista, you can do this by using the Windows Activation Wizard to:

    1. Click Start, and then click computer.
    2. Click System Properties on the toolbar, and then click click here to activate Windows now in the Windows activation area. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click continue.
    3. Select the Windows Vista activation method that you want, and then follow the instructions.

To avoid this problem in the future, obtain the latest service pack for your version of Windows Vista, either through automatic updates or direct download.

To update to Windows Vista and prevent this activation problem does not happen:

    1. Click Start, click all programs, and then click Windows Update.

Windows 10 has made automatically update 1607 (KB3176936) on the pc of my wife (HP Envy H8-1534) about 6 days ago. Since then I could not start the pc the first time I turn it on.

When I hit the power button on the monitor lights up with the HP logo on black screen as usual but the loading icon (spinning points) does not start. Fans start, but there is no activity on the Tower in the way of flashing lights or beep sounds. If I turned off the pc by using the power button, wait 10 seconds and turn on again, the pc will start up as normal. So far, for the last 6 days, it took the 2nd attempt so that it starts the pc every time. It almost seems as if there are not able to go to the system except for the fans in this first attempt to start.

I ran a test at startup by pressing the F2 key without no problems found. I disabled the SATA power management in the BIOS. I ran the Windows startup with no result repair. Here are the results of the txt file.
