  • Windows Update says I need 53 updates, yet he cannot install even the premiera.

I've lightened up to the os disk space and scanned several times for malware (Microsoft Security comes always too clean). I took it to a repair guy and it didn't fix it! When Microsoft Security try to update, it cannot, and when the Windows Update Web page is trying to update, it can also.

Even when I try to install updated myself one, it fails.

  • How to run Windows update for Win XP SP3 using Firefox

My desktop PC computer running windows XP with SP3. My spouse uses IE 8 for its browser. I use Firefox Version 24. for my browser. Previously, whenever we ran MS or Windows update it starts IE and works very well. IE 8 blew up and does more (execution errors). I tried to go to the site to update Windows using Firefox and he came back and told me that I had to use IE to launch Win update on an XP system. Is this true? I don't want to use IE at all. Is it possible to use Firefox to run Windows or MS update on my Win XP system? Thank you.

You cannot run windows update using Firefox because it uses controls ActiveX Firefox is not (and will never). Yes, then unfortunately use IE for Windows update.

  • Windows Update says I need to install IE8, but when you try to installed it says I already have IE8.

    Windows Vista version 6.0.6002
    Internet Explorer 8.0.6001.18828
Windows Vista is 32 bit Home Premium

Run Windows Update to get the latest update from Microsoft.  Windows Update indicates that I need to download Internet Explorer 8 for Windows Vista.

Try to install it and it reports that "Setup cannot continue because a newer version of Internet Explorer has been detected on this computer."  Result in the Code E windows Update encountered an unknown error.

Check under the "uninstall an update" to try to uninstall and reinstall Internet Explorer 8, however there is no "Windows Internet Explorer 8" in the list as a normal OS Vista would have.

So if Internet Explorer 8 is installed, so why Windows Update still trying to install it?  And why is there no "Windows Internet Explorer 8" in "Uninstall update"?

I just use the standard uninstall to remove Norton.  Before installing McAfee.

    1. download the Norton Removal Tool, save it to your desktop: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

    2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

    3. click right on the file saved in #1 above, and then select run as administrator to run the utility. DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart & test.

Norton applications are notorious for not to uninstall "cleanly". If the "remains" of Norton are at the origin of the behavior, run the removal tool should solve the problem. Ideally, you should run this utility before installing the McAfee application so YMMV.

  • I can't get the XP updates. I need SP3 but need the hotfix for AMD chip which I can't until I have install SP2.

I am just an ordinary computer user and do not have a great understanding of the technical side of things.

After a lot of blue screens, I did a fresh install of xp family. I installed avast anti virus and then made sure that windows update was. Then I tried in vain to download SP2, the fix for SP3 and AMD. Without these, it seems, I can't get the needed updates.

I'd appreciate if someone could give me English simple, easy to understand solutions or, links to click on who would control the repairs or whatever it is that is missing.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hello

This AMD patch you were talking in your original question? I'm not aware of all the other fixes AMD (but this does not mean there is one, are not my knowledge is not encyclopedic!).

Windows Update no longer works unless you have installed SP3. SP3 should be able to be installed from the link I provided above, but I would like to uninstall IE8 first and then re-install later.

    Download SP3...

    http://www.Microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&ID=24

    Download IE8...

    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-US/Download/details.aspx?ID=43

But I wouldn't do anything else until we have at the bottom of the AMD patch that you think you have need.

  • Problems with Windows Update and load XP SP3

I had a problem with my system and had to replace my HARD drive and reload XP and all my applications and data.  Now, I installed SP2 and try to install SP3. Windows Update does not work (get the 080244019 error code x) and when I try to install the SP3 files from the Microsoft site, it'll run about halfway through and then stop and hang, displaying the message "Finish Installation" with bar at halfway of the progression.  I tried the MSRT and FixIt nothing helps.  I checked services.msc to see all the required services are enabled or started.  I read that some malware will be stop some services without notice.

After a few attempts to load the file SP3 failed, check Add/Remove programs in Control Panel Windows XP Service Pack lists 3 but no file size or to update the date information as with other programs.  My browser is IE8 and I was doing some Hot fix for Windows XP downloads, this adventure started about 3 weeks ago, but no other automatic update downloads.  I use the following McAfee provided by my ISP for protection AV and firewall with regular full scans.  Scan today revealed there is apparently a single trojan file that cannot be deleted, but there were no further details.  My system is also fully functional; I seem to get the updates for McAfee and other applications OK but not SP3.  I received or otherwise installed following updates or Hot Fix for XP downloads in the past 3 weeks:

    KB954550-v5

    KB932823-v3

    KB915800 v4

    KB884020

    KB926239

    KB2618444 (Windows IE8 security update)

I found an answer on another forum on editing the registry for the "/ Edit EDWARD CSDVersion value ' but have not yet tried waiting for any response to this request.  I'd like some useful suggestions.  Thank you and happy new year!

Thanks for the quick response.  I did some checking on my system, I have XP Home Edition ships with the system bought in July 2007.  Add/Remove Programs shows that the aborted install XP SP3 and IE8 installation; I tried to load the SP2 file but it doesn't show here as an addition, so it may have been part of the original XP CD and I just crush.  Even for IE7 so I am not able to drop back to all recommend you.  I will try your solution later today and post my results. I saved SP2, SP3 and IE8 in my office and a flash player to reload later according to your instructions.  Stay tuned.

It would be unusual for a CD of Windows XP (official) to have integrated Internet Explorer 7.

  • Windows Update allows only XP, SP3 and NO Windows Server 3. Please help, Joanne

I was checking my Windows Update history and noticed a few pages of updates that were not downloaded.  I printed the and proceededto make them manually.  In the middle of download I realized that I did not updated for Word 2003.  When I tried to do, I got and error message: 'the extensions have not been installed.

I'm used to be able to do this update.

I went to the information system and it has a Web Site for a catalog update from Ms.  This is scary because I would lay (navigation) with my registry, I think that?

I went to FixIt.  Tried to back up my registry but that for some reason, it didn't work.  Maybe I should click on the link for guided hand. Ha ha

  • What is happening with Windows Update you will need to install a new update to check for updates?

What is happening with Windows Update from 18/01/2016 When I find out Windows Update in Control Panel, he said, with a big yellow sign warning, "install new Windows Update software to check updates. You must first install an update from Windows Update. Your automatic update settings will not change. To install the updated Windows Update will automatically close and reopen. »

Only Microsoft would think of this UPDATE TO SEE THE UPDATE.

When you click on install, it starts running AND running and checking for updates and there is no display. It must be download them?

When I go to shut down the computer, there is a big yellow exclamation on the Start button that says that Windows Update will install updates before its stop point. So it takes a while to stop.

I also noticed that in Windows Task Manager > process I have an iexplore.exe process * 32 running 120, 600 KB.

It stopped when I changed the Windows Update option stop the download and installation.

The computer is running very slow and erratic.

I just reinstalled Windows 7, so I have to do all the updates.

Does anyone have the same problem?

Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone could be kind enough to help me solve this problem with my computer oh. I have a laptop HP with Windows 7 and it happened for a few days to a week about my Windows updates. Whenever I closed my laptop, the screen always says 'do not turn off your computer, Windows sets up' . After 2 hours it is when she finally stopped, but when I turn it on again the same statement appears briefly.

I checked my Windows Update in Control Panel and it says I have 6 important updates regarding the improvement for Internet Explorer and my windows. So I tried to install these updates, but the progress remains at 0%. So what's the problem here and how can I solve this problem?

Also, whenever I try to open Internet Explorer, it will still not open because it just freezes there. Firefox works fine and I have access to an internet connection, but I find it strange how my Internet Explorer does not work.

Please and thank you for your help.

  • Windows update PROBLEM - always needs to change first the file distribution system

I am running with Windows Vista Home Basic Edition and are struggling to update my files after a clean reinstall.  Finally got through many strategies, but doing so thereafter (once) noticed that the failures occurred each time that the "System of Distribution" file in the windows folder has not had been empty of logs and the previous downloads.  Don't know what that means.  Any ideas?  Could there be a problem with the hard drive, processor, motherboard, short circuit? (Have no problems downloading on other computers in my house, my overall connection is good).

I am running windows 7 on my Workbench for compatibility with our hardware and existing software.  Since a few days, my computer thinks is necessary to complete the application updates.  I rebooted several times, but he always tries to restart every few minutes.

I looked for the hklm\system\currentcontrolset\control\session manager\pendingfilerenameoperations, but I can't find that key.  I do not see a level under the session manager a folder named 'filerenameoperations', but this folder is also empty.

I also tried the "fix a click" offered in another thread here, but this tool fixit ms did not help either.

What should I do to tell WU that there no changes requiring a restart pending?

  • Frustration of Windows Update... need help

I am trying to help my sister with the speed of his laptop computer.  It is an Acer Aspire 5570-2792.  He had become so slow that it took 10 minutes to start and enter fully into the Vista environment.  Finally, I ran the utility which formats the hard drive and restores the computer to the State nine factory, with Windows Vista Home Basic as the operating system.  After doing this, the fantastic ran computer with no problems at all.  It fully charged in about 1 minute Windows and programs such as Internet Explorer load into memory and ran as fast as 15 seconds.  Not bad at all.  However, when the updates of Windows started coming in (83 in total), they have installed (for about 14 hours, even on a DSL connection, to download), the computer is now just back to where it was before and perhaps worse.  It takes 10 to 15 minutes to start under Vista, and it takes more than 2 minutes for Internet Explorer start.  It's frustrating and absolutely unacceptable.  Please help... What can I do to run as if he had not all of these updates it slows it drastically this computer.  Please... it's just awful.
