Canon Pixima IP4000

I'm pretty new to print servers, so try to keep up with my ignorance.

Is it possible to print to my Canon Pixima IP4000 wireless via a Cisco/Linksys router with a usb port?  I'm in the market for a new router n and this feature would be a kicker for me.

My printer is not exactly new, but I don't see anything about compatibility anywhere.  The router is it just like an invisible jump and is independent of the printer?

Thanks for any help,

washing machine

You cannot use the USB port on the router for the printer... You need a like WPSM54G printserver for the printer.

Just got a new HP laptop with Windows 8. Try to set up my Canon pixima ip4500 printer. I think the computer recognizes, although I'm not positive of this. But he says that the driver is missing. I went to the sight of Canon, and they said there was no Windows 8 driver for this printer, it will not take on or it might come with the OS. I use a USB interface. Can you me tell if this printer work with Windows 8, do I need a driver, where I get it?

    Hello

Only Canon people can say. The following texts come from a Microsoft forum:

First of all, make sure that the printer is on and connected.

  • Windows 7 can not find .inf driver for Canon Pixma iP4000 printer connected to Windows XP.

I have a laptop running Windows 7 (64-bit machine) I want to print from.  The laptop is on a home network wireless.  The office is wireless as well and is running Windows XP.  The Office has a Canon Pixma iP4000 printer connected with a parallel cable.  I installed the latest XP drivers for the printer on the desktop.  The laptop can connect directly to the printer with a USB cable and drivers will download automatically and it will print correctly.  However, I can't connect the printer using the wireless system.  I can go on the laptop to the home network and navigate to the printer and try to install.  It makes an automatic search and says that it cannot find the correct drivers.  I can browse to the file to install on my desktop, but it of an .exe file and not. INF.  I run the .exe file and it installs too, but Setup of printer on the laptop won't let me not by the .inf screen add to complete the installation of a wireless printer.

    Any suggestions?

Very probably the XP driver name is different from the name of 64-bit driver.  Create a Local Port which copies the data to the print size in Windows 7.

Here is an article knowledge base how to the names of the incompatible drivers.  Replace the Windows 7 machine for NT4 machine referenced in the article.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/282842

If you load the printer driver 32-bit on your 64-bit computer, you need the 32-bit driver for Windows 7.  You can do if you have a 32-bit computer of Windows 7 on the network to push pilots up to the machine that is sharing the printer.  None are flat files on the Windows 7 DVD, you need to install the OS or mount the ISO.

The key to successful sharing between computers that run different printing architecture processors is pilot name.  PCL6 equal NOT PCL 6.

    Hello Chit,

Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft Community.

I suggest trying to download the latest Windows 7 drivers from Canon Web site and then try to install in compatibility mode.

Step 1: Download the drivers from the Canon Web site.

    http://www.USA.Canon.com/Cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_ip_series/pixma_ip4000#DriversAndSoftware

Step 2: Installing the driver in compatibility mode.

You can also provide the following link to check the compatibility of the printer.

  • Windows 7 64 bit laptop on wireless network can not find .inf wired for Canon Pixma iP4000 printer driver for windows 7 32 bit PC

First of all, I read the thread on the laptop win 7 and win XP PC with attached IP4000.  I have just isn't helping me with that.  I am computer literate network, but I have to be dumbing down, so be specific in a response, you can give it.  Please, do not assume I know something just because it can be public knowledge.  Thank you for understanding my situation!

New Win 7 64 bit laptop connected wireless to a network home through a Netgear WNDR3700 router.  Wired to the router, it is a PC with a USB attached printer Canon IP4000.  This printer has worked without problem with this PC for years.  Add the laptop.  Try to access the printer on the network (it is set to be shared on the PC) translates into an inability to find the driver for the printer.  On the Canon download site, I downloaded and installed on both machines the driver add-on 'aomwin110ea23us.exe '.  This does nothing to solve the problem.  Then, follow the suggestions in the thread referenced above, I downloaded installed 7 - zip and unzipped the file add-on from Canon.  Guess what? -There is no, zero, nada, stupid ".inf" file in there!  I understand that I need share on the PC to both x 32 and x 64, but without a valid .inf file to point to, I'm sunk.  And the same is true when you try to add the printer to the laptop - not to point to .inf file.  Is the only thing that I have not tried to install the printer directly to the laptop via the USB port, and it's because this is not a configuration that is usable for me.  The printer must be attached to the PC.  Is there anyone out there who can help me solve this dilemma?  Please do not give me an answer telling me to download the driver - usually you tell me precisely what driver and then guide me through the process.  Rest assured that I appreciate sincerely any help you can give me.  Thanks in advance!

Most likely the name of the driver you are using on XP to share the printer a is not not the name of the 64-bit driver.  The pilots names must match in order to add the printer as a connection to the 64-bit computer using the normal RPC protocol.  You can configure the printer on 64-bit Windows 7 as a local printer that will basically copy the data from the printer to the format to share on the XP machine using SMB protocols.

This is a Ko for incompatible drivers when connecting XP to NT4.  Replace your server / client configuration, but it's the same process.  Make sure that you are connected to the internet and select the Canon 64 bit driver available on Windows Update (use the Windows Update button in add printer) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/282842

  • Since upgrading to OS XEl capitan 10.11.6 canon printers does not work

    Hello everyone,

I went to use my canon printers today, (canon pixma ip4000 & canon Pro9000 MKii) and the system would go to print and it would come in place with the printer is not connected message. The printers were lit, and that they were connected to the system. I tried to use two printers and couldn't get anything to print.

I uninstalled the printer drivers and went to the Web site of Cannon to try to download the drivers again, but had no luck.

A Web site, I went to download the drivers detected etc I was running OS XEl capitan 10.11.6 and it says that there is no driver for this version available.

This could be the reason why I can't print due to the update of OS XEl capitan 10.11.6.

I haven't used my printer for a few months, but they worked very well the last time.

Any help on the matter would be great.

    See you soon

    royboytas

Yes, the incompatible drivers are probably the cause. Have you checked the tab updated App Store to see if there are new updates available? Otherwise, I call Canon and ask when they will be available for OS X 10.11.6.

  • printer for OS 10.4

I have read various posts on printers and become delinquent.

I have 2 Power PC running 10.4. I have 1 laptop running 10.6 (guess); theres a computer windows laptop running 8. as well as a mini ipad.

I'm looking for a printer that can handle all of them.  So wireless as well.

Originally I bought a used hp all in one, but it will not connect to my old pc of power.  Or maybe it's the issue of not being able to print at all because of the ink system.

I also bought a Canon pixima mg3520 as it was recommended through newegg, but Canon no longer supports the driver.

I searched online and found something in the sense of a German site that I thought would be useful, but it does not.  I don't know if I followed the directions wrong or what, but when I did what he told me to do I do not have the same answer (n ° 1 with the option key button does not give me an Advanced tab).

Any help would be great, because I'm tired of storage computers.

Gutenprint can work with old Macs PowerPC and printer HP used (check-list printers supported)

    http://GIMP-print.sourceforge.NET/index.php

I used an earlier version of this return, when I always used an old Epson inkjet printer (Mac OS X start) "Stylus".  The MacBook Intel can be supported with an older version of the commercial driver of HP.

Don't know about the iPad.  If the Canon printer is a current or recent model (wireless), the iPad probably works there.

    In BH,

    Thanks for your quick response.

I didn't know I neeeded to use third party software to print envelopes. My Canon pixma ip4000 precedent did not require the use of any software to print.

I had the same problem.  I was able to get around by loading the driver for Windows XP 64 bit from the Canon web site and then install the printer using the normal menu of 'install new printer' Windows 8.  If I remember correctly, I could have gotten an error message or two, but the printer appears in the printer window and ran very well.  Hope this works for you as well.
  • What happens in Sierra w Canon scanners?

Canon started late to upgrade the drivers for its scanners, but the list of those still pending is very long...

My question is: Sierra is a minor update (i.e. risk limited) or rewriting profoundly affects the relevant areas in the analysis? What is likely to happen if I update before the drivers are ready?

Specifically, I am trying to scan documents Canon imageFORMULA DR-C225W

    Thank you

    Is Sierra a minor update?

No upgrade of the OS is minor. Framework can load and existing software may be rendered uselss.

Apple provides the operating system to developers in advance months to make changes are necessary for the developer to make their decision on what they want to do. Some developers will be in fact stop software for older models and you can not see support for a specific device. In these events, contact Canon and see if they can provide a beta driver or provide a workaround solution. Otherwise, it is an excellent reason to keep a backup of your computer to restore it at a time where the operating system and the hardware work together where Sierra makes the incompatible camera and canon does not offer a solution.

I contacted Canon, they have yet to get their act together (my words) and, at this late stage, realized that some of their software, drivers, etc., is incompatible with the Sierra.

Their recommendation does not upgrade to Sierra if you want their kit to work.

    No time estimated for fix.

Either by the way, Nikon have now identified a problem.

Maybe Apple should have an Upgrade Advisor as Microsoft do...
