CD/dvd drive not working__

my dvd/cd drive does not play a disc, he says he's work properly.how can I solve this please.

Hello

Please make all below even if you have done some before as it is often the total process
which solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double-click the device - driver
Tab: click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - then do a CLICK RIGHT to the road.
UNINSTALL - REBOOT this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the disc is not
shown continue below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then check the cables
both ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean the
power and data of the contacts with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the system manufacturer
and the manufacturer of the device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

Hope these helps.

  • Pavilion Slimline s5-1020: DVD drive not recognized in Device Manager

My rarely used DVD player no longer works. Here are the things I have seen/made:
-J' updated to Windows 10. It may or may not have stopped working before the update.
-I update Windows automatically, and everything seems to be in order there.
-The DVD seems to be operational, insofar as you can hear it turn when a disc is inserted.
-Setup recognizes, and it is enabled; It is not at all in Device Manager or in the file Explorer.
Based on the things I've tried, there are indications that it may be either a hardware or a software problem (or both?):

    SOFTWARE PROBLEM?
I followed these as much as possible:
    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c03370738#c03370738_NoDriveWin8
    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c03370738#c01895589_resetpower
    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/desktop-CD-DVD-read-only/read-this-for-CD-DVD-drive-with-burning-Missin...

    -I got disconnected/reconnected the drive.
-J' tried various DVD I knew to do.
-I don't have to update the BIOS, given warnings.
    - Nor did I mess with registry filters.
-J' tried to find a Microsoft Fixit solution, but the one referenced somewhere in these pages don't apply to this OS - I think it was for Win 7.  I tried MS Control Panel convenience stores, but none of them worked.
So I can't say whether or not it is a software problem.

    HARDWARE PROBLEM?
-J' have set the boot on the CD order in configuration and the desktop with Windows 7 HP Pavilion system repair disc - nothing happened, he went straight to the HD (even if I had turned off).  So that leads me to believe it may be a hardware problem after all.

Do I have other options at this point, except maybe buy another drive?  And in fact if I do, it is possible that one does not work either?

While you are not alone in this problem, here's a thread that deals with her.

    Hello

my dvd drive not recogonising not any disk, I tried MS fixit but no resultsI.I use a Samsung dvd player in my Win 7

Its possible that the cd/dvd drive does not, it can happen. Try a lens of dvd/cd cleaner to see if that helps.

Make sure you have the latest drivers and software installed for the reader, if they are damaged, they may have to reinstall.

    pls someone help me...

    Hi payaso1968,

Can you post a few more details on the model of your laptop, how to upgrade the operating system, etc.. ?

  • Satellite Pro A210 DVD Drive not working no-error code 39

    Hi all

My Satellite Pro A210 dvd player does not load.
When I looked inside, he showed an error code 39.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it still doesn't work.

    Any ideas?

    Hello

To my knowledge, the 39 error message appears if the CD/DVD drive is not visible in my computer.
    You can try this workaround:
Go to Device Manager and remove the drive CD/DVD from the list of devices.
Then go to the registry (regedit) and remove upper and lower key filters:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\ Control\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Then restart the device and test again
    I think this should help!

    Hello

You can eject the CD/DVD drive using a small object like a stapler.
There is a small hole near the eject button.
Putting the stapler in that little hole and you will be able to eject the disc.

    > readers are good units because they work with a USB caddy on another machine

The BIOS does not recognize the CD/DVD drive because of the wrong master/slave/c-salt settings. You must use a compatible CD/DVD player. This CD/DVD drive can be ordered from local ASP.

    > Are there any suggestions on how I can install on a formatted hard drive, without using a usb cd drive, it would be cool...

Perhaps you may be able to install Windows on USB
I don't know if the BIOS can support booting from USB, but it s worth a try m.

    Hello

The error code I get is: -.

    * "This device cannot start. (Code 10)

Unfortunately Microsoft does not seem to have a solution.

I also tried a full scan with Norton Antivirus, but found no problem.

Perhaps this might solve your problem:

Open your registry editor (run as regedit)

Go to and select this key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Verify if the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters value are present. If so, please right-click on the values and select 'Remove' to remove them.

    Now restart your computer.

    Strange!
On the Toshiba driver page, you will find also 2 Firmware updates.
Check which drive you unit and try to update the firmware.
Also try installing the DVD ram driver.

PS: It is not possible to roll back the BIOS or install the first version of the BIOS on the device. Only the Toshiba service partner may DOWNGRADE the BIOS

    HI Paul,.

I think that your first priority will be to remove the virus from your laptop. The following link contains the virus details: -.

    http://securityresponse.Symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/W32.Desktophijack.html

You are shown in the BIOS to CD-ROM? If yes then set to be the first selectable boot device and you should be able to load your recovery disk and restart it.
