CD-Rom XM - 1802B on DVD upgrade

Hi, I have a XM1802B CD rom I want to upgrade to DVD or DVD/CD-RW or DVD - RW.
Is there a direct replacement? I bought a DVD/CD-RW, but the eject button was in a slightly different place which meant that I couldn't get the original bezel (XM1802B) to him.

I would like to get a drive that will fit in the plastics I have for the XM1802B.

Any ideas?
Thank you
Graham

Hello

First of all, it would be very interesting to know what laptop you have.
Generally, readers a secure with one or two screws that you will find at the bottom of the unit.
In addition it is very important that you are buying a supported player and compatible. Not all readers are compatible due to the assignment of pins and parameters (M, S, CSEL)
I recommend you ask the service of Toshiba for a compatible player. It can order it for you.

  • My DVD ROM does not recognize DVD discs after upgrading Windows XP to Windows 7.

A few days ago, I updated my laptop to Windows XP to Windows 7. Everything seemed to go well until I tried to burn a DVD disc. The program I use for this purpose is Nero 9.4.26.0. Ideas:

    • You have problems with programs
    • Error messages
    • Recent changes to your computer
    • What you have already tried to solve the problem

    Hello

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
    do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are
the entries in registry that the troubleshooter does not solve and those who "might" be the cause.

Check with your Maker system and a device for the two possible firmware updates and
the correct registry entries for your car.

Here are the keys that I of course are those in question - for the subkeys of the CD/DVD drive
as there will be other subkeys in these keys. Do not forget to ask specific keys involved as well as
    the parameters.

  • Re: Satellite Pro A300 - 2C4 "Windows 7 Professional Upgrade DVD" upgrade

We have a Satellite Pro A300 - 2C4 (bought on 23-11-09) that came with Vista Business 32-bit installed, but has been downgraded (using the provided diskette) to Windows XP due to the demands of corporate network.

When Windows 7 became available, I bought the DVD to upgrade to Windows 7 Toshiba provided so that if the company decided to upgrade to the new operating system, we could do it on this laptop.

That's what I tried recently to discover that we can't do as the DVD is for Win Vista upgrade Windows 7 Pro. What is the best way to upgrade without having to buy another drive to upgrade. I have a set of recovery disks for an another Toshiba SatellitePro A300 - 2 4 which was bought about 2 months before this one. These were created using the Toshiba recovery software before any changes have been made on the laprop. Would I be able to restore the system to its state of Windows Vista using these disks and then use the Windows 7 Professional Upgrade DVD to make the upgarde?

Suggestions or recommendations would be greatly received.

This upgrade package offered by Toshiba is upgraded from Vista to Win7. So if you want to use it, you must install Vista recovery image at first.

After that, you can upgrade pre-installed Vista to Win7 following the Toshiba s implementation instructions.
I did the same thing my Qosmio X 300.

If you cannot use created recovery disc either s order Toshiba Vista recovery disk or (perhaps the best solution) install the clean version of Win7. A300 is fully supported for Win7 and you can download all the necessary drivers and tools specific to Toshiba and utilities.

OK, I have a HP 6000 Elite with a DSVD-Rom (Multi Player) drive.  I would like to replace this drive with a model HP DVD + RW / CD + RW #447310-001. Drive TS-H653 410125-501.    Search for cases iside the PC, I find there's black wire to one (1) and a 1 connector with 2 black, a yellow, a red son.   No one knows it is all the cable/connector that is required for the DVD + RW / CD + RW drive market?

I read where it is a connector cable BLUE on these units.  If so, where I buy this cable?

    Thank you

    Hello:

Yes, you just put the existing cables from the old dvd drive to the new.  Nothing else is necessary.

You can consider a used but tested and working one on eBay. Saves a lot of $$$ than buying again at HP.

  • CD/DVD-ROM for reading CD / DVD RAM only...

I reinstalled Windows XP due to problems with my system works only with Win7.  I did a clean install.  Windows XP installed a generic driver from microsoft CD/DVD RAM.  For this reason, I am not able to access the DVD ROM discs, no discs as CD ROM and DVD RAM disks.  I know that there is a way to change things so the system sees that I have a DVD ROM and not only a DVD RAM.  It's just think WinXP that my readers are only DVD RAM drives work very well.  They work perfectly with CD and CDR/RW and will work with a store bought DVD.  I just can't figure how to change the generic Microsoft for DVD RAM DVD ROM driver  I had this problem before, I don't remember the fix. I deleted the registry entries, I deleted the readers, only for have reinstalled them with the original drivers.  I have 2 drives, both are LiteOn.  LiteOn has no drivers for the drive and says they are "plug and play".  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

I tried this also.  He said: there is nothing wrong with my CDROM or it says that my CDROM is not able to write DVD and install one that can.  Thank you.

To access device manager > right click on the CD/DVD rom device and choose uninstall. Restart the computer and allow windows to detect the new hardware.

  • CD rom will not play DVD

When I insert a disc and try to play a cd or dvd, I get the response "Please insert a disk".  I was in the Device Manager and clicked on cd rom and the device works correctly. I tried updating the driver but that you have the most up to date for my system.
I did a Checkup and was informed that AutoPlay is not enabled on my cd rom, someone knows how to do this?

    Hi Doreen,.

If you do not have any filter upper and lower filter. No need to make changes. Close the registry editor.

Please uninstall any software like Nero, roxio of CD burning. Then uninstall the drivers from the CD/DVD. Try to reinstall it from your manufacturers Web site, using your computer model number.
