Change floppy on a SAS6/iR RAID1 controller

Hello!

I have a dell server in raid1 with SAS 6/IR controller recently, I replaced one of the disks for a new. (secondary drive). They are now with the status ok. Can I just physically move the main drive with the secondary, so the new disc will be the primary drive? I have no advantage with that?

For example, when I want to replace the old disk with a new one also... Is this controller read of primary drive or both?

Thank you

"Can I just physically move the main drive with the secondary, so the new disc will be the primary drive?

There is no primary drive on lsi controllers based. Is a favorite disc controller wrote to the first, it could be either of a pair of raid 1 disks, chosen by the controller during installation.

Can I just physically move the main drive with the secondary, so the new disc will be the primary drive?

If you were 'change' of the disk, it is a little involved, no less there is absolutely nothing to gain, the data is the same on both drives.

"Is this controller read of primary drive or both? There are raid controller that read from both disks in raid1, LSI based aren't, the controller will indicate from the disc which is preferred by the controller, unless the is in question, then he will read from the other disks in the array.

  • Tecra S: I can change the IRQ settings?

    Hello

    Recently, I received a new external (E - MU 1616 m) card using a PCMCIA card to connect to the computer. It does not work as it should because of the fact that the shared PCMCIA cardbus controller's IRQ with a range of other things (controllers USB, internal modem and the video card).

    Is there a way I can change the IRQ setting for the PCMCIA controller?

    I now that if windows XP is installed as an ACPI computer it does not change IRQ but if install you it as a standard PC, it does. Anyone now how to do this?

    Any help is most appreciated!

    Thomas

    Hello

    As far as I know since Windows 2000, it of not possible to manually change the IRQ.
    Visit this link:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;232824

    Well, in my opinion, you can try to remove the PCMCIA Device Manager. After the restart of the unit of the OS recognize the PCMCIA device and allowances the IRQ.
    Try it.

    If this option is NOT available in the BIOS, then you will not be able to change that!
    In this case the controller HARD drive will tell in SATA mode and if you want to install an operating system then you need to install the SATA drivers first!

  • Smart Array P440ar: ProLiant DL380 g9 & controller Smart Array boot order

    Work on a server of gen9 ProLiant DL380 (SFF) with an of P440ar (version 3.00) at location 0 (embedded RAID) and a controller (version 2.52) P840 to location 1. I have the P440ar connected to the risers on the front of the system, and I'm starting off the P840 6.5 RHEL. If no hard drive is attached to the P440ar, it works, but if all the disks are connected to the P440ar, the boot device is not found. I tried to change the order of boot in RSBU controller, but the P440ar was the ONLY listed controller. I didn't even have an option to change the P840.

    Am I allowed to configure the system in this way?

    After fighting with it for several days, I deleted the system P840 and started with just the P440ar. Then I added the P840 in the system and restarting, the system automatically added the P840 to startup controller command list. Works fine now.

    1 connection to the center of storage of Dell & change the IP address of the slave controller first

    2. change the IP Address of the controller (Chief) then

    3. change the virtual IP address of management

    4. then change the config to the switch (end of network)

    I am not sure with this procedure, as the change of the IP address of the controller will be the loss of connectivity management. If please specify or let me know if you have any other procedure

  • changing the IPs of WiSM2 HA controllers...

    Hello experts!

    HA WiSM2 already install and smooth.

    Customers had to change the IP addresses of the service interfaces.

    They can be changed directly from the console of each controller while in config HA

    or

    you need to remove the controllers of the HA config?

    Removal of the config HA means disable just the SSO, right?

    then I can proceed to the next generation of IPs?

    I just wanted to be on the bottom.

    Thanks in advance.

    Service interface has nothing to do with HA SSO.

    The IP address of the Service Interface is editable through the console (better) or by IP.

  • Change of type PowerEdge 2950 SAS SATA Drive

    I (will) will soon receive a PE2950 which has a backplane SAS (PN610) and (YF437) SAS RAID card.

    I would like to convert it to use SATA hard drives and have capabiltiy RAID.

    the only things I need to change, is the backplane and the RAID controller?  or is it more than that?

    Thank you

    You should not have to replace the raid controller or the bottom of basket; SAS hardware is compatible SATA (the other way around does not apply (for example a SATA controller will not work with a SAS drive)).

    You however need will lead carriers, who will not sell Dell on their own, so that you can reuse those among the SAS readers, buy the disk SATA (or SAS) more small/less expensive that Dell is selling, or see if you can find the drive carrier (screws) on ebay or not.

  • Place you RAID0 RAID1 by adding a drive

    Hi, I have a single drive of course configured as raid0. I bought a new drive of the same and I would now add this disk and change the type of raid in raid1 without loss of data. In openmanage if I click on the virtual drive raid0, I can choose reconfigures and in the next screen, I can add the new drive, and then change the type of raid in raid1. Can you confirm me it reconfigure alone will make a copy of the data on the new disk without data loss?

    Thank you

    Kappa85,

    This is the correct process, the term for what you are wanting to do is called a Raid level Migration. It should reflect the existing Raid 0 unit to the new and changing raid 1 without loss of data. You can read more about hereRaid level migration.

    Let me know if it helps.

  • Dynamically add a checkbox to HGrid and accessing the controller

    I wonder if it is possible to add a column of checkboxes to a HGrid, and then access the method processFormRequest of the controller?  I would avoid the modification/extension of the page itself and or the view object and make all changes to just the extension of the controller.

    I add the boxes without problem, but I can't seem to understand how to access during an iteration through the lines of HGrid with OAHGridQueriedRowEnumerator.  In my view, that the question is because the boxes that I created are not related to the view object associated with the HGrid.  I didn't add them to the HGrid like this:

    Private Sub addCheckBoxes (OAHGridBean hGridBean,

    {OAPageContext oapagecontext)

    oapagecontext.writeDiagnostics (sModule, ' adding Checkboxes. ",")

    OAFwkConstants.STATEMENT);

    OACheckBoxBean = boxBean

    (OACheckBoxBean) createWebBean (oapagecontext, OAWebBeanConstants.CHECKBOX_BEAN,

    (NULL, "xxSelectBox");

    boxBean.setID ("xxSelectBox");

    boxBean.setUINodeName ("xxSelectBox");

    boxBean.setChecked (true);

    boxBean.setLabel ("Print");

    boxBean.setName ("xxSelectBox");

    hGridBean.addIndexedChild (0, boxBean);

    }

    But when I check the attributes of line in the method procesFormRequest of the controller, it does not attribute my newly added check boxes. Should the boxes be linked to a display object to enumerate the values? They are not related to something on the backend, they contain only the interactive user data during the presentation of the page. I have to add an attribute to the view to the HGrid for my new UIComponent? How would I do that?

    I answered my own question. The HGrid I have access has three your (or three levels). Parent, child of the Parent and child child.  For some reason, in processRequest, child to child VO had not been linked or executed. I was able to link and run, then access to VO remaining as follows:

    for (WOLParentWorkOrderVORowImpl parentRow = (WOLParentWorkOrderVORowImpl) parentVO.first ();)
    parentRow! = null;
    parentRow = (WOLParentWorkOrderVORowImpl) parentVO.next ()) {}

    Ri RowSetIterator (RowSetIterator) = parentRow.getWipEntityIdParentWorkOrderVO ();
    ViewObject childOfParentVO = ri.getRowSet () .getViewObject ();

    If (childOfParentVO.lookupAttributeDef ("xxSelectForPrint") == null) {}
    childOfParentVO.addDynamicAttribute ("xxSelectForPrint");
    }

    Boolean bExec = childOfParentVO.isExecuted ();
    If (! bExec) {}
    childOfParentVO.setWhereClauseParam (0, ");
    childOfParentVO.setWhereClauseParam (1, "");

    ...
    childOfParentVO.executeQuery ();
    }

    Lines should have child children VO
    for (WOLChildWorkOrderVORowImpl childRow = (WOLChildWorkOrderVORowImpl) childOfParentVO.first ();)
    childRow! = null;
    childRow = (WOLChildWorkOrderVORowImpl) childOfParentVO.next ()) {}
    RowSetIterator ri2 (RowSetIterator) = childRow.getWipEntityIdWOLChildWorkOrderVO ();
    ViewObject childOfChildVO = ri2.getRowSet () .getViewObject ();
    If (childOfChildVO.lookupAttributeDef ("xxSelectForPrint") == null) {}
    childOfChildVO.addDynamicAttribute ("xxSelectForPrint");
    }
    }
    }

  • Area 51 R2 - controller Dual HDD - Intel Rapid Storage questions

    I have here a system of area 51 R2 (new). After power on, I went to check the options available in the bios. I was surprised to see that there is no way to change the way Intel SATA AHCI/RAID controller that I found bizarre. After installing the OS on the SSD while keeping the HARD disk as a data disk, I noticed that the system comes with 2 different controllers.

    The first, running in AHCI mode, is an Intel C600 + / C220 + party controller, while the secondary is a onboard Intel RAID controller mode normal (can not get the exact chip). It seems that the STRANGE and the two SSD 2.5 "put in place (SATA4 and SATA5) are plugged into the controller AHCI while the other 3 3.5" HDDs (SATA1, SATA2, SATA3) slots connectors are all on the SATA RAID controller.

    While this will create a RAID with any installed HARD or SSD installed in slots 3.5 "drive, you cannot create a RAID of 2 2.5" SSD or HARD drive using their location designed in the case. And if you want to create an SSD RAID, you need to get your readers to a location 3.5 "using 2.5" to 3.5 "adapter.

    FIRST QUESTION:
    -Why are there 2 different controllers instead of using only one? Why not as another system, use a simple controller 6 SATA3 ports. If it is of split the possible performance for the SSD's in RAID AHCI mode on hard drives, which almost locks to make an SSD RAID by using the default locations. I know you can just reroute/reconnect the SATA connectors to make it fit, but it's just extra Needless to work on the system.

    SECOND QUESTION:
    -Why we cannot change or the other controllers in the bios mode? What happens if I want to have 2 x SSD in RAID mode for my games while having 2 x HDD also in RAID for my OS? I can't because everything is divided into 3 / 3 for ports and no way to make 2 different RAID systems unless I have buy a 3rd party RAID PCI-e card and use instead.

    Now, here's something else, I discovered. Both controllers have need for different type of Intel Rapid Storage has to be installed, but you can not get either to work along with the other application. The C600 + / C220 + controller requires Intel Rapid Storage Company install the driver 'correct' and the application will run only if you disable the RAID controller. You will see that the STRANGE and the two SSD connected using the application. If you re-enable the RAID controller, the application will give and error and will refuse to start.

    The RAID controller on the other side requires normal Intel Rapid Storage install the driver and application. The application will run only if the driver generic windows is installed for the AHCI controller or is installed when you install the Intel Chipset inf utility (showing C610 / X 99 AHCI controller). The application will launch and show all 3 of the hard disks connected to the RAID controller. It will crash if you try to run it when the driver IWH suitable for the installed AHCI controller.

    What is the idea behind this? This whole business of 2 controller, you cannot change the AHCI/RAID mode on either and only 3 ports for each controller. In addition both controlled by different versions of Intel Rapid Storage and you can not have both installed at the same time so you have to use generic on one or the other drivers if you want to use them. Looks like this last generation of Alienware were not really thought to become with the creation of the weird storage options (which includes the option WITHOUT RAID for R2 of Alienware systems 15/17) which locks the user away from opportunities that other less expensive systems (XPS/optiplex) have at the base!

    It's really disappointing. I have a R4 M17x at home (which was 3D until the video card update) and I'm still in love with this laptop, but I continue to be discouraged in buying any of the new States with all these weird things being disabled or locked down the value of the systems.

    You will probably get a better response if you re - post it in the forum of the Club of Alienware .

    Keep it short and simple.

  • Set controller SCSI-type VirtualLsiLogicSAS

    When im getting an error message when im trying to set the type of controller Scsi to VirtualLsiSAS:

    WARNING: Changing the type of the virtual machine boot disk controller prevents the VM to start properly.

    And his is not the change of re-congfigure, leaving the BusLogic controller parallel perfom and continues with the script. Anyone seen this before?

    Hello

    First of all I will file a bug for the warning - this is not correct and it's too scary. The idea of the warning message is that if you change your boot HARD drive controller, it is possible the OS have problems with the start-up of the guest.

    We cannot reporoduce your question in our test environment, it will be useful if you share your information:

    -VM machine-> 4 or 7 Version?

    -ID - WinXP, Win2003 VM, etc.?

    -What is the version of your ESX? I see you have vCenter 4.1 but he could handle older versions of ESX.

    -Have you tried the same operation with the graphical clieant? Is he here?

    And finally, I think you can try this line as a workaround:

    Get - VM testvm | Get-hard drive | New-controller SCSI-Type VirtualLsiLogic - BusSharingMode NoSharing

    This line creates the new controller and remove the existing. Pass the desired values - Type and - BusSharingMode parameters.
