Change hard drives - links are broken?

I want to spend my OS and applications on an SSD in my MacPro. I also intend to use a disk storage more keep all my project files. My question is, if I move all my projects to a new disk, with a new name, all my links in InDesign will be broken? I know that I can use the same name on the new hard drive, but I already did once, if the drive is called "G5 Storage"... it's time to retire that many...

See you soon.

If you change the name, the links will break. If they are in the same as the .indd files directories, they should get found automatically in the folder open, yet if your preferences are set this way.

    Hello

The only way to get it back as a PC to work directly from the facility, is to get Acer recovery media.

If you can find/borrow XP CD of the same version (XP/Pro), you can get the operating system implemented using the button on the bottom of the laptop. Then, you have to go to the Acer Web site and download all the drivers and the software you need and install after having established Windows. This could be a situation ' chicken and egg ', without ethernet or wireless drivers that you will not be able to get on the internet. Windows might have native drivers, but if not, the only way to beat this would be for download on another PC that has an internet connection and then transfer by memory stick or other portable media. If you choose this route, you may want to you come back to this forum and research to get the XP installation instructions, this is particularly important if the CD is pre - SP3.

Can I change hard drive with an SSD in Toshiba NB100?
The hard drive in this model is the same size as SSD 2.5 drive "?

    Hello

  • Change hard drive - how do I reinstall Windows copy on the old drive?

I intend to change my old hard drive to the laptop with a new one. Windows Vista comes with the old drive, how can I move to the new? Copy + paste does not work completely. Thank you!

    Hello

There are different ways to do

hard drive manufacturers will normally provide the cloning software to move your operating system installed from the old to the new hard disk

Search for information on this subject on their Web site

If you have vista business or ultimate, you can use the builtin vista complete PC Backup to move

    read the information below

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial145.html

or if you have vista home version you'll need 3rd party software

link below is an example of this:

    http://www.Acronis.com/homecomputing/products/TrueImage/index.html

also to put your machine how you bought:

    1. that vista is preinstalled, you should have a recovery on your old hard drive partition

You can recovery disks to reinstall on your new hard drive

ask the manufacturer of the machine how

    2. contact the computer manufacturer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

they do it for a nominal cost of $

    3. or borrow a microsoft dvd vista

Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

they contain all versions of vista

This is the product key that determines which version of vista is installed

  • Can Equium L40 - I change hard drive SATA to AHCI Mode?

    Hello

Anyone know if it is possible to change the hard drive to SATA AHCI (or same IDE) mode in the BIOS?

I see the hard drive in the BIOS but I can't select to make changes as long as it is "gray".

I installed the latest version of the BIOS, but that made no difference.
    Thank you very much.

I put t have this model of laptop, but usually the controller SATA in BIOS mode options are AHCI or compatibility.
I presume that it is set to AHCI.

Your laptop's SATA HDD so I put t understand why you want to change anything. Using the AHCI mode HARD drive can operate at full speed.

  • Re: M100 change HARD drive

    Hello

I have an 'old' Portege M100 and I suspect a broken HARD drive. The laptop freeze suddenly and sometimes crash with a blue screen. Most of the time it will not start at all. I managed to reinstall XP with my recovery CD twice, without change.
I would like to change the HARD drive, but I read somewhere that the BIOS is actually on the HARD drive itself. Is this true? If so, how can I swap the HARD drive then? I also fear that changing the HARD drive will make inoperative recovery CD?

    Don't want to lose the M100 ;)

    Hello

As mentioned, the BIOS is stored on the ROM chip which is part of the motherboard.
To update the BIOS ROM module must be flashed.

The other thing is that the replacement of the HARD disk is not really complicated.
To my knowledge, you need the 2.5 IDE HARD drive.
Bay drive HARD bottom of the unit and it s fixed with screws.
If you remove the cover of the HARD drive Bay, you can easily remove the internal HARD disk.

In some cases, it s in the cradle and you need remove the extra screws (2 on each side) so of to withdraw his support.

  • Portege 3500 - change HARD drive and deal with overheating CPU

I recently bought a Portege 3500 without any support of discs etc. It doesn't have a CD or a floppy disk. It has 2 problems, I want to trouble.
    (a) HARD drive is obviously out because it is by clicking on me, and it presents a permanent red section during defragmentation.
    (b) the fans are at full power all the time, and the CPU is running slowly.

    (a) I had a new HARD drive that I reformatted on other laptops. I put a base Windows XP on this HARD drive and uploaded on my external that I attach to the Portege. I used "transfer... Assistant "to transfer files, folders, and settings to the new HARD drive but I don't know how to install the old Windows XP OS Tablet it." I have the product key of Microsoft for the operating system. Any suggestions would be helpful.

    (b) I believe that the transfer of heat from the CPU on the radiator is a failure, causing the processor to hot and therefore slows down. I already solved the same problem with a Dell by coating the top of the CPU with Artic Silver 5 paste. I cannot, however to get the CPU in the same Portege so I removed all the screws down. Does anyone know how to split the case without causing damage?

    Hello

    (a) Unfortunately, but I don t really know how you want to install the operating system without using the recovery CD or the windows CD.
I searched a bit in this forum and found these messages on the installation of the OS on the Portege 3500:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=5926
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=15336&MessageID=55939

    See also this FAQ:
    http://support.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB6101CA000ER02.htm

    (b) on the Portégé, you should find the power saver utility. This utility allows you to change the different modes of cooling and processing speed.
In my opinion, you should also check if the fans are clean. Especially the dust and debris inside of the laptop is responsible for cooling not properly of the CPU and other parts.

But if you want to know how to remove the covers so I would recommend checking this site. Maybe you'll find something useful.

  • After changing hard drives, I get an error message that says: I need a full version disc windows genuine

Original title: replacement hard drive configuration issue

My hard drive crashed and I can't access anything anyone on this subject. I have a second hard drive that was used for additional storage only. I'm doing this second walk my master drive. After changing the cables, jumpers, the bios settings to show as the master I am using the Windows XP disk, I try to put in place. I get an error message that says: I need a full version disc windows genuine, not a disc to upgrade to. When I bought the computer it came with Windows ME preinstalled and there was no disk that came with the machine. When I went to XP apparently, I bought a version upgrade, not the full version. Is it possible to get a cd of microsoft, or download a file, which can help get this another hard drive mounting correctly?

    Thank you

    Hello

Since you have changed your HDD, I would contact the Microsoft product activation center to get on your version of the operating system. Visit the link that provides the phone number of the same below:

  • After changing hard drives on my Toshiba laptop, won't activate Windows Vista.

I have two laptops Toshiba Satellite, I bought new. Due to hardware failures, I changed the hard drive of a laptop in the other. Everything works fine, but now the Panel / System states that I have two days until automatic activation. He also said whenever I try the option activate the invalid product key! The Microsoft product Authenticity sticker is more readable on the laptop where the hard drive was born. In question operating system is Vista Home Premium 64-bit. Help, please!

    original title: activation problem?

You can buy a full license of Windows 7 and install it, but make sure that your computer meets the Windows 7 system requirements

You need a qualification license Windows to upgrade; you don't when you moved the hard drive.

You don't say what the problem is with the hard drive of the laptop you are trying to install this hard drive Vista preinstalled from the other laptop in.

If you bought them at the same time, two thay have Vista Home Premium on them?

Why not use this laptop you try to go there and his original hard drive, if still OK.

If its hard drive is not OK > you can then put this "non-genuine" hard drive in it > reinstall the correct version of Vista that is pre-installed on the notebook computer > then purchase an upgrade to Windows 7 If you wanted to.

One of the posters put this Information in place in the Forums:

    http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/Windows_7-windows_install/FAQ-common-Windows-7-installation-questions/6719ae72-7187-45CD-80f7-55e66f3ec686

And most importantly make sure that Toshiba has Windows 7 drivers available for your model laptop activate Windows 7 works correctly.

  • Change hard drives where the files stored, how to ensure that no problems with the catalogue

I replaced the 3 TB drive (and readers of backup related) who hold all the image files on my Mac Pro with a 5 TB drive.

The player has only the image on her files. The catalog and previews remain in the folder of images on my main system drive.  I formatted the new drive in an external hard drive enclosure, then used Super Duper to copy the image of the old 3 TB HD files to new hard disk 5 TB. Now, I'm ready to install the new HD 5 to in the computer and the catalog of links to it, but want to make sure you do it correctly.

This player has 81 000 image files, catalogued in 15 "buckets", each "bucket" with about 15 cases of work, so I obviously want to make sure that I don't have to tie all these files by hand.

What is the best method to do this, so I have no problem with the catalog know the new location of the files?

    Mac OSX 10.10.5

    Lightroom CC 2015.1

    Thank you!!

Instructions are here: Adobe Lightroom - find folders and files moved or missing connect the parent (as shown in Figure 4) folder, and then all subfolders will be also connected. If I understand your use of the word 'bucket' (do you really mean "parent folder"?), then you will need to do this for each of the 15 buckets.

It would be much easier if you had a 'bucket' or parent folder and many subfolders and sub-sub-folders.

  • Photoshop Elements change: Change Hard Drives

    Photoshop Elements 5.0

    Windows 7

My main hard drive is full. I installed a second HD, F: drive, 1 TB.

Have copied all the images and the catalog (I think) in F: and set the parameters of the obvious preferences for F:

New photos are saved in F: but 'old' is yet to come from C:

Is there a howto on the change to a new HD?

    Thank you

    Peter

Instead of copying your files on drive F, you could have used the back up and restore the installation in the elements in the same way to change computers. There is then no need to worry about manually move the catalog file. You simply choose the drive F as your new location when you perform the restore operation.

  • Change hard drive on HP Pavilion Elite HPE-127c-b

How can you know which hard drive can replace your current one? Also, you can replace a 1 TB harddrive with a 2 TB HDD? Thanks for your comments. I really have no knowledge about this.

    JTKB715, welcome to the forum.

Here is the Product Specifications page for the computer.  The hard drive is SATA.

Here is a guide of Western Digital that will show you the types of interfaces available and what hard drives are compatible with Windows 7.

You can replace the disk of 1 TB with a 2 TB drive.  It is the maximum value supported by Windows 7.

  • Qosmio F750-129 - change HARD drive

    Hi all

For my QOSMIO F750-129, currenlty it works with native hard drive Hitachi HTS547575A9E384 (5400 RTM)

I would change this hard drive for a faster:

Seagate hybrid SSD Momentus XT ST750LX003 2,5 "SATA III 750GO (7200 RPM)
    or
Hybrid of Seagate 1 TB portable computer SSHD ST1000LM014 (5400 RPM)

Is it possible for you (power, temperature, SATA interface...)?

Thanks a lot for your help.

To increase the performance of the laptop HARD drive change is recommended. I recommend exchanging it with SSD. You will see the difference. Computer laptop will start and runs much faster than before.

Toshiba also offers SSD so if you need some info visit http://storage.toshiba.eu/cms/en/index.html

  • Satellite M30 - need to change HARD drive

    Hello

I bought a Satellite SM30-104 (model No.: PSM30E-0QRYK-EN) in 2004 and it seems that the HARD drive is dead since it reboots windows xp family again and again. While Windows is loading, at some point, the laptop restarts from the beginning. I can not even access the Bios.

Therefore, I suspect the HARD drive to be dead and would like to change: SMART MK4021GAS HDD2182 B ZE01 T, 40 GB, 4200 RPM,.

Could you please let me know where I can buy a new, similar or compatible with more storage?

Your response will be much appreciated!
    Best regards

Hmm if the HDD died then windows would not load what whatever, and you get an OS message cannot be found.

However, if you want to change the HARD drive then you can do this
You will need a 2.5 IDE HDD. I think the 120 GB limitation due to the LBA28bit
However, it is my personal opinion perhaps more HARD drive would be compatible as well
