ChckDsk frozen at step 5 of 5, I can force restart?

I plan to chkdsk to run at startup and to correct errors.  It is a hard drive that I use for storage of media, not my Boot C: drive.

CHKDSK has run for more than 12 hours, during the night, it got stuck on step 5 of 5, or 40%.

How can I cancel chkdsk without damaging my files on this drive?  I have years on recorded images and will be crushed if something happened to them.  Thanks in advance for the help.

I don't know how to say if there were errors, but here is a screenshot that I got with my camera.

    Hello captainmat,
Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

I understand your message that your iPhone 6 is running iOS 10 and there are times when you're using Bluetooth and take pictures the screen freezes. I know how it is important for your iPhone to work properly using Bluetooth and take pictures. I recommend to use the steps in the following article to help resolve this problem:

If the screen of your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch does not respond to touch

    Check your touch screen

Make sure your hands are clean and dry, then try the following steps:

    1. If you have a case or a protective screen on your device, try removing it.
    2. Clean the screen with a soft, slightly damp, lint cloth.
    3. Unplug your unit.
    4. Restart your device. If you are unable to restart it, you can force restart your device.

If your touch screen is still unresponsive as it should, contact the Support technique Apple or make your tablet in an Apple Store or Apple authorized service provider.

Adjust your settings for tactile 3D

If you have an iPhone 6s or later that does not properly respond to tactile 3D press, you can adjust the settings:

    1. Go to settings > general.
    2. Click Accessibility > Touch 3D.
    3. Then set the sensitivity of the setting.

  • IPhone does not display number of unread emails

    Hello world

I think I'm getting a problem with my iPhone.

In iCloud, I created some rules for incoming emails and I am moving them to a custom folder. I see the same configuration on my mac and my iPhone.

In iCloud and Mac, I get a label with the number of unread emails, but not in my iPhone, so when I'm on the city and check my emails on my iPhone I never see a notification or a label with the number if there is new e-mail messages. Here are some pictures of my settings!

In the first image, there is records who created the iCloud (synced with no problems) and I know that I had new e-mail messages, but as you can see no folder only shows the number of new emails. I can see it on my mac and in iCloud but nothing in the iPhone.

    Thank you!!!

    Hello Jarkaos,

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

I see that you don't see notifications to your e-mail application. I have a number of things for you to try to solve this problem.

First of all, quit the Mail, Force an app to close the iOS application

Then, restart your iPhone, restart your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch

    Finally, to test the issue.

If the issue is not resolved, follow the same steps, but this time make the "force restart" of the second article and test it.

    Is the best.

If I type, sometimes I type a letter twice to get the press to register. The only way to the iPad back to normal is a reset, holding the power and home buttons until the Apple logo appears.

  • Frozen

My iPhone 6s is completely frozen to the top. It does nothing, even after several attempts of soft reboot. He has a lot of expenses. It just stopped working suddenly. He will attempt to restart, but all I get is the Apple logo on the screen, but it goes no further. The phone has no damage and has not been dropped or been wet. I tried to connect to my Mac to synchronize more toward the top, but that does not work either. Any ideas?

    Try recovery Mode:

Connect your device to your computer and open iTunes.

When your device is connected, force restart it: press and hold the sleep/wake and home for at least 10 seconds, and only release when you see the Apple logo.

Keep now until see you the recovery mode screen and wait that he eat.

You may need to do the above, more than once as recovery mode is difficult to enter.

Restore first as New and test. Then restore backup if you wish. If the backup is corrupt it will probably bring back the question.

  • Frozen laptop after Windows 10 download

I tried to load windows 10 to my laptop and it was loading forever.  I left it last night and now the computer is frozen on the password screen.  Keys and the mouse are inadmissible.  Help!

    Hi Joan,

Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft Community.

According to the description of the problem, your computer is frozen to the login screen. First, try hard, restart the computer and see if it helps you to solve the problem.

If the problem persists, I suggest that you want to run auto repair with installation media and see if it helps you repair system files or not. For the execution of the task, I suggest you to try the steps below and see if it helps.

    Method 1

When you use the recovery environment (Windows RE) to troubleshoot startup issues, first try the Startup Repair option in the System Recovery Options dialog box. If this does not resolve the problem, or if you have additional problems manually, use the Bootrec.exe tool.

Because you cannot start the computer, you may need to create a bootable Windows installation media, and then do an auto repair, and if this does not help then you try to restore your computer to the previous date.

Note: When you use system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, the programs and updates that you have installed are removed.

If you are using Windows 7 then the link provided below might help you to download and create installation media.

Download Windows 7 Disk Images (ISO files)

    Method 2

If the problem persists, try to rebuild the BCD by using the Bootrec.exe tool. To run the Bootrec.exe tool, you must start the recovery Windows (WINRE) environment . To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Place the Windows 7 installation disc in the disc drive, and then start the computer.
    2. Press a key when you are prompted. Select a language, a time, a currency, a keyboard or an input method, and then click Next.
    3. Click repair your computer.
    4. Click the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.
    5. In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click command prompt.
    6. Type Bootrec.exe, and then press ENTER.

See the following link for more information:

How to use the Bootrec.exe tool in the Windows recovery environment to troubleshoot and repair startup issues in Windows

Hope it would help. If problem persists always post back with the current state of your computer and the result of the proposed suggestion, we will be happy to help you.

    Kind regards

  • iMac frozen by using the migration wizard

Hi, I tried to use the Migration Wizard to transfer my settings my iMac to a MacBook Pro new etc.  The transfer failed, and now my iMac froze with transferring your screen information, suggesting it will update your system settings.  On that note, it has been frozen for several hours.  I tried to force quit but it sounds right.  I also tried turning it off, but when I turn on the power, even once, it returns the same screen.

    Anyone have any suggestions. ?

By 'frozen' do you mean that you cannot move the cursor?

If two Macs are connected wireless, it can take several hours, even days, finish the Migration Wizard. If you can't wait that long, you can force the Mac does not close in holding the power button down for several seconds. Then, connect the Mac to another using Ethernet cables and if necessary appropriate adapters and start the migration. You can connect to each other directly, or through a router. A wired connection to avoid the vagaries of wireless communication.
