Sir, I have hp pavilion dv6 6017tx (serial no is 5CH1121F7D) laptop.my System Manager devices displays the chipset affected. I want to know whether or not my chipset is defective B2 chipset. also I wany to mention that I have an overheating problem in the previous. I replaced my system fan of hp service center tailor recently cleaned all arround the system fan vents. but still there is a noise not regularly, but sometimes when the load increases. the CPU ID, shows hwinfo (cougar point) [B2] chipset.i want to know if my chipset is defective or not.

Contact HP, they should replace the motherboard for free, if all goes well.

  • HP s 4330: cannot install Windows, freezes before restarting. [solved: chipset defective stepping]

    Hello!

I am banging my head on the wall with this case, can not understand, how to proceed.

My experience: I worked a few years as a computer store technician, especially on desktop computers, so at least vaguely, I know what I'm doing, and I'm very careful when handling material.

Background of the computer: I got a used HP 4330 s after the deceased family member. No fringe, pretty clean, no damage or traces of fall release. He had dead hard disk (click), broken DVD (engine brackets bent, I am told it is a child work) and was very dusty (blocked fan). I removed the optical drive, carefully removed all the dust, replaced heat is dedicated to the Sub CPU and put inside SSD, I took my other machine (erased). In the BIOS, I went from starting EFI.

I jumped into the USB with Windows 8.1 fresh install, which ran well, until he wanted to restart. Screen went blue/violet (same color as the background of the normal installation), and it stopped, no disk activity, nothing. I turned to bike it, Windows installation proceeds, but failed. This is repeated several times.

Steps I took to solve the problem:

-Legacy mode and I tried to install again, same result.

-Memtest Ran, past, memory switched to a few specimens (DDR3 and DDR3L), tried both slots, pass all, Windows will not complete the installation.

-Traded stock to i5 - 2520M i3 CPU I had to hang out, which has been removed from the machine work (during upgrade), same result.

-Done everything once again, this time without the battery and using big HP 120W 85x0w charger, same result

-Exchanged on a different disk, same result.

-Try exchanging AC7260 network card, only to discover he is blacklisted (* beep *?), removed wifi do map altogether, no change

-Traded thumbdrive to another, and I tried two different Windows 8.1 relies

-Turn off all devices in the BIOS, except USB.

-Tried to install Ubuntu, only to find out that it works perfectly, but it will not boot from EFI, had efibootmgr shows the correct entries, laptop says that it cannot find the operating system.

-Hiren Boot CD with BartPE is Windows XP starts and works very well.

-Check time CPU, at a time using reporting and pirometer software, it does not exceed 65 degrees Celscius in any moment, which is well below the critical temperature on both processors.

BIOS is F47. To my surprise, it is newer than what I can find in the download page (F07?).

Can what steps I take to close on the issue? I would leave it under Ubuntu, but I need Windows on this computer, and I'm afraid he's going to go belly up.

    Last updated.

First of all, doughjohn - problem is not in the initiation of the stop, but it will not accomplish the closure. There is almost everything disabled except BNT kernel and the video driver.

The problem has been very difficult to diagnose, until I found a friend who also had the same machine.

    And here's the final solution:

Like unbelieveble as it is, all three motherboards have manufacturing defects.

Problem is the chipset: all of them, as, as I suspected, have Cougar Point B2 chipset with SATA bug. This degrades the connection of the HARD disk. There were two clues: USB3.0 adapter SATA with Windows 8.1/10 work and fine closures. Same disk moved in the hard drive bay or optical Bay can not close correctly and works over slow (!). Second, was my friend who had same 4330 s specifications, but without problems. I disassembled the machine and to my surprise he chipset B3, with visible signs of flow around it, and fix the markings certified HP. This laptop was RMA would once. I moved my installation to his mother, and he also starts very well on SATA ports.

This is the first (and only) for laptop with Sandy Bridge-era components that suffer from a degradation of link chipset primary HARD disk SATA lines I've seen so far.

To sum up: HP, your fault this time.

I sold the laptop and I'm looking for a new machine, it will probably take HP 6470 B, if I can find all the components.

Thank you for all those that the air here and offered advice and guidance. I really appreciate your help!

  • HP continues to ship the defective 6 Intel chipsets to customers after the recall.

Something people should be aware of is that HP has set up a 'solution' that isn't really a solution.  I had a QE DV7T (number of product XN093AV) who ordered in January.  The laptop has been affected by the issue of chipset and after one month of checking back with service customer HP I have finally told me they had a resolution and I could trade my machine for one with the newly revised chipset.  The replacement machine was delivered to me in mid-March, it was the number of identical product (XN093AV) and contained the same faulty chipset.

Some experience for those who do not know the chipset issue.  Intel has launched a recall of their 6 series (cougar point) southbridge chipset designed for use with the second generation core i-series "sandybridge" CPU.  Among the functions of the chipset is the interface for SATA controller for storage devices.  The chipset handles 6 SATA ports, 2 to 6 Gbps and 4 to 3 Gbps.  It's the 3 Gbps ports that are affected by the design flaw which can lead to errors of data to an attached storage device.  Mobile version of this chipset Intel is called HM65 and progression (version) of the chipset with the problem is "B2".  Intel has implemented a solution of silicon and released a new "B3" progression that is not the problem.  However, Intel has continued to ship the affected "B2" step by step to the manufacturers for applications where 6 Gbps ports would be used as they are not affected by the design flaw.

Back to "Fix" of HP - my original machine had the wrong "B2" stepping chipset HM65 with a hard drive connected to a 6 GB/s and an optical drive connected to one of the 3 defective Gbps ports.  The replacement machine, I received also had the same "B2" stepping HM65 chipset with both drives now connected to 6 Gb/s ports.  Unfortunately, this is not an acceptable solution on at least two fronts.  First of all, in addition to the disk hard main bay and the optical drive Bay, this particular 17.3 inch laptop has a secondary hard drive Bay.  Regardless, I bought an SSD that I intend to install plus readers installed at the factory.  This requires the use of a third port that should have been one of the 3 defective Gbps ports.  In addition, the laptop also has an e-SATA connector to connect external drives that I intend to use for backups.  I didn't check this, but as the main hard drive and the optical drive consume only two working ports it goes without saying that the e-SATA connector is connected to one of the faulty ports.

After about 5 hours of being tossed around in the customer service Sub HP and said there is nothing wrong with my machine, they agreed to Exchange once again for one of the DV7T QE newly released (number of product XW899AV) models, which I hope will have the 'B3' stepping chipset HM65.  I have not yet received, so I can't verify whether or not the new product has the same problem.  I'll post when I get it.

This affect you?  You can determine what capacity the chipset you have by running CPU - Z, a utility system free and widely approved, available at www.cpuid.com.  Select the mainboard tab and watch your chipset revision.  If you have the "B2" step by step and you plan to use more than two SATA devices at the same time you might have a problem.  The following link gives an overview your hp options.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c02712015

I want to clarify that the answer to FAQ # 2 is definitely false.

HP continues to make products with the affected Intel chipset?

Lol HP stopped manufacturing products with Intel technology and queued expedition on products in stock HP and channel.

    Good luck.

There are motherboards with the update 'B3' stepping chipset appearing as "B2" in CPU - Z.  Given that I don't have the laptop in question, I can't physically inspect the chipset.  I withdraw my statement because there is no way to prove whether what version of the chipset has been deployed to this machine.

The following link provides another method of identification stepping chipset:

    http://News.Softpedia.com/news/how-to-find-out-if-your-Sandy-Bridge-motherboard-is-affected-by-Intel-s-SATA-bug-182252.shtml

If anyone has a replacement XN093AV machine, perhaps they can post their findings.

If for no other reason than not having to bear the XN093AV trackpad buttons (or lack thereof), I am always happy, they have accepted the return and will replace the machine with a XW899AV.  Not to mention the free graphics HD 6770 m, webcam HD and USB 3.0 card upgrade.

    Hello

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. As this feature has been added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there are still some problems.

You will have to perhaps restart Firefox for it to take effect, so save any work first (e.g. you compose mail, documents online that you are editing, etc.).

    Then perform the following steps:

    1. Click the menu button

      and select Options

    2. In the window of Firefox Options (or preferences), click on the Advanced tab, and then select general.
    3. You will find in the list of parameters, the checkbox use hardware acceleration when available . Clear this check box.
    4. Now restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.

This solve your problems? Please report to us!

  • Satellite A30: Card sound & Chipset driver problem.

    Hi all
I'm about to get REALLY crazy! I would really appreciate if someone can help me...

    My story is:
I lost all my CD recovery & pilot who gave me in 2004. But I had to format my pc this weekend due to many reasons of system (bugs, unable to connect to the net, etc.).
My first step was to Toshiba site, I downloaded all kinds of drivers for Satellite A30. And I had XP Professional SP2 from my friend and installed it. But after completing all the facilities below is the result:

    (1) NO. SOUND :(

2 points to mark on the 2 points that are a) multimedia sound controller and b) PCI Modem in Device Manager / other devices.

    (3) Chipset installation error message: Chipset Intel (r) utility installation requires platform chipsets supported by the supported operating system. Read the section of the system requirements in the Readme.txt for more information.
So far I checked the forums my chipset has not been installed correctly, but when I try yo install the Intel chipset 895PE (csutil-sa30-xp - 5011015.zip) I downloaded download address http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com, it gives the error message and some people says to install the drivers in good order as, first install XP with SP1, and then install utilitt chipset, and then install SP2 etc... But it seems not to be easy for me...

Really, I can repeat my FORMAT again, but in what order process...
    Thank you...

    Hello

Just to inform that my problem has been resolved in itself :)
I reformatted my laptop and installed new computer the original XP Pro SP2 by following the instructions.

His problem was solved automatically, no installation utility chipset required...
The noise problem was probably caused by lack of update Microsoft KB835221 for SP1 and KB888111 for SP2, which then was resolved with the XP of more recent origin...

  • Satellite Pro A200 (PSAF4A) - update CPU and chipset

    Hello

    I have a Satellite Pro A200 (PSAF4A) with a processor Intel Celeron M 540 (1.86 GHz) and a Mobile Intel (r) 965 Express Chipset Family.
I upgraded the RAM, but it's just not enough performance for me as its limited to 2 GB.
I know that Toshiba will not admit it, but I've heard people have updated this type of processor before. I can't afford a new laptop altogether but will settle for upgrades I get.

    My questions are;

Are there companies in New Zealand that can upgrade my processor and/or my Chipset?

I also noticed that space to the second HDD has no media or in any case to add another HARD disk, is it because of my laptop or is it a manufacturing defect?

Are there also companies who can add these mounts to my board so I can have a second HDD?

First, the chipset is not extensible. It s soldered onto the motherboard and can't be exchanged. In addition, on the CPU upgrade, you should read this article that I founded in the area of the FAQ:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB9401AX0001R01.htm
The point is that the new processor must be supported from the motherboard, BIOS and chipset and it is not so easy.

Install a second HDD is not a problem if you have a second connector to HARD drive (I know SATA) in the second HARD drive Bay. I think some of the Satellite Pro A200 models were fitted with a second HDD and some other laptops are not. So if you have the connector in the Bay, you can install an additional HARD drive.

  • On my Satellite Pro A120 possibly defective keyboard controller

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro A120-223 dual core and that's my problem with the keyboard.

I get this irritating message at the start with BEEBS, where it says PXE - E61 Media Test Failure among others. Then I opened it everything and put everything back once again, the problem seems to go away at first and then comes back, this time, when everything starts up; the letter a? NA? is continually and automatically entered on the research that I click on.

I later bought a new keyboard, and all kind of went well until the 3rd day with my new keyboard. The problem is back!

I did research on my problem online, and realizes that the keyboard controller may be at fault here. I don't think the keyboard is defective, it is brand new and I typed hardly something with her, I also took extra precautions when connecting the cable to the system.

If it is the controller, should what steps and procedures I take in order to define precisely the problem, or perhaps to resolve?

I don't have a warranty on this machine, and I'm not too eager to spend huge sums on a new motherboard, but I'm ready to if it is necessary.

    Thank you in advance.

    Hi mate,

the first error message "PXE - E61 Media Test Failure" is more related startup, so another order of boot (HDD-> CDROM->-> NETWORK FDD) probably solves this problem.

With regard to your controller keyboard problem: I think that the cable must be realigned PROPERLY since these errors come from a misaligned keyboard cable or a really damaged keyboard controller (where I am skeptical that the keyboard controller is broken).

I know that you have taken additional precautions when connecting the keyboard, but this time took a few extra super uber mega special care when connecting it. Especially during the connection, check that the small black hook that keeps the cable is properly glued on the port.

Would appreciate feedback on your part...

    See you soon

  • Mobile intel 4 series express chipset family Driver update

    Hello.

I struggled to update my graphics driver. I have a laptop HP Pavilion dv4t 1600 CTO. My operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. My device driver is a Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family, and the driver version is 8.15.10.1883 08/27/2009. I tried to install the latest in Intel which is 15.17.19.64.2869. However, when you try to update the drivers, I get an error message:

"The driver being installed is not vaildated for this computer. You can get the correct driver from the manufacturer, cmputer. Implementation will leave. »

Which leads me to the HP site were I try to find an appropriate update. However, when you use the update of HP or the manual search, I end up with the same type of driver for the chipset graphics and sound. My problem is: I don't know that one must be updated.

I play world of Warcraft, and I get the message "your device driver is out of date. This could mean one of them, if using the Intel drivers update utility, none of my pilots appeared. • USB does not work after you install the utility on Satellite A200 Intel chipsets

    Hello.
I installed Win XP Pro SP2 on my Satellite A200-1SM and everything was ok until I installed Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility version 8.2.0.1014 (recent ones on the site of download of Toshiba; before this step all USB dev. worked properly), after all my USB devices wouldn't work. I had my windows up-to-date with updates from Microsoft, but that has not changed a thing.

I use Vista once again, but still want to work one day at the XP operating system.

Please help me if you can.

I have HP n278tx laptop and I recently installed Windows OS 8.1 and now I can not hibernate and sleep my knees.

When I do that it get stuck.

And also I can't install drivers chipset provided by HP to Win 8.1 Pro.

I can not install these 2 drivers. Please help me.

    You are the very welcome.

The reason why you can not put the laptop to sleep or into hibernation is because you need to install the NVidia graphics driver too what this hardware ID.

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-133679-1&cc=us&DLC=en&LC=en&OS=4158&product=6967644&sw_lang=

I don't understand why it not install this driver.

The only other suggestion I can offer is to see if Windows Update installs the driver.

Go through the manual steps that above, but this time be connected to the internet, then select the method of automatic update .

See if windows update detects and installs the Intel Management Engine driver.

I'm having the same error as many others on this forum re: error message suddenly appears saying that the printhead is missing or defective. I followed all steps suggested HP, i.e., unplug the unit, check the ink cartridges, etc.. None of them has nothing to fix or cross the same question. My printer is about 2 years, so more under warranty.  There is no explanation for the cleaning of the printheads on the 6700 and other products do not translate to the 6700.  I watched about 1/4 on the blog, some at the beginning and at the end and that you won't lose my pages in all 12 looking for time to dissatisfied customers.

And I just bought and installed new ink cartridges that are not cheap.  What a waste...

Please let me know what I can do would be much less $ than buying a new printer, because it surely won't be a HP.   This is a problem for years and always HP chose not to solve.  they would rather you buy another HP throw.  Good luck!

  • Failed to load the chipset driver. NLite or Floppy work.

    Hi people,

    I use a HP XW8400 (CPU Intel Xeon 5150 chipst 5000 X).

I tried all means to get Windows XP PRO to detect my SATA HDD internal storage - and none of them have worked.

Loading the drivers using the F6 floppy method key kept leading the message iaStor.sys is corrupted.

As an alternative I used Nlite to integrate the drivers in a new Windows XP installation disc.

I downloaded the drivers of chipset of the RST on the Intel site for my specific chipset (5000 X) in a new Windows XP installation disc, and although the operating system installs correctly it does not always detect the SATA internal HDD.

Although my OS is 32-bit, I tried slipstreaming separate 32-bit and 64-bit Windows XP installation (in desperation) disc just in case where the 64-bit version worked and have had no success with either.

    I don't know what I can do?

Please - does anyone have an answer?
