CHKDSK does not work XP is restarted

After asking running chkdsk, reboot I get the message "can't open the drive for direct access.  I would like to be able to use chkdsk without going to option 2.

Option 2 is to have an another boot drive and starts to him.  But when asked to select what priming, all first, press F8 and select Safe mode with command prompt.  Then select the other boot.  Which boot 2 get up and go to the command prompt, I can enter > chkdsk c: and settings.  I know that my 1 disc is clean because I used option 2 and completely used /r and /p (it takes about 6 hours) and get no errors.

CHKDSK does not work because I have more than one startup choice?  It gets confusing?  Is this a bug?

Check the drive to ensure that it is not a failure-

In your antivirus options do you have an autoprotect at startup time options?  Turn it off and then try chkdsk

This update fixes an issue that prevents the running at the start of the system of chkdsk.exe. The problem can occur on systems with an IDE drive, and is discussed in the database Microsoft (KB) Article Q315403. Download now to resolve this issue.

However, if CHKDSK is scheduled to run when the computer restarts, the binary module that contains the verification code is Autochk.exe, a native Windows program. Because Autochk.exe runs early in the computer startup sequence, Autochk.exe doesn't have the benefit of virtual memory or other Win32 services.

Autochk.exe generates the same type of text output which generate the Chkdsk.exe utility DLLS. Autochk.exe displays this text during the startup process output and also logs an event in the application event log. The logged event information includes both the output of text like that can get into the event log's data buffer.

Both Autochk.exe and the verification in the Chkdsk.exe utility DLLS code are based on the same source code, the rest of this article uses the term "CHKDSK" to refer generically to Chkdsk.exe or Autochk.exe. Similarly, because this article is only about the CHKDSK changes that involve NTFS volumes, any statement that "CHKDSK does" such and such means that "CHKDSK does such and such when CHKDSK runs on an NTFS volume.

    On a Win 7 laptop, when I run as administrator, chkdsk c: /f /v /r from the command prompt, it says that the volume is in use, do you want to run the program when the computer reboots.  I answer Yes and told me that it will run when you restart.  When I restart, it of a normal start and does not run chkdsk.  I tried different combinations of settings, but nothing works.  If I run chkdsk without parameters, it works.

    It comes down at the end of the previous instructoins, so it of nothing to do but to remove and reinstall the printer, then follow these instructions to do this:

    We will try to uninstall then reinstall the printer in a specific way:

    1. remove the printer from the PC.

    2 uninstall the printer from the PC driver.

  • ApplicationIndicator does not work until you restart the phone

    I have a big problem with ApplicationIndicator. It does not work if I install my application for the first time... but after the phone reboot it works.

    This is my code:

    public class Indicator {
        private static Indicator instance;
        private ApplicationIndicator indicator;
        private ApplicationIcon icon;
        private int counter = 0;

        private Indicator() {
            icon = new ApplicationIcon(EncodedImage.getEncodedImageResource( "appIndicator.png" ));
            indicator = ApplicationIndicatorRegistry.getInstance().register(icon, false, true);
        }

        public static Indicator getInstance() {
            if (instance == null)
                instance =  new Indicator();
            return instance;
        }

        public void notify() {
            counter++;
            indicator.set(icon, counter);
            indicator.setVisible(true);
        }

        public void resetIconIndicator() {
            indicator.setVisible(false);
            counter = 0;
        }
    }

    Solved.

    "The solution is"simple": the init code was originally of 'main' method '.

    Is now just before the enterEventDispatcher().

    I don't know why (init called too early in the life cycle of app?).. .but now it works.

  • Keyboard does not work after stopping - restarting required

    I shut down my PC overnight. In the morning, when I turn on, the mouse works fine but I can't enter my password using the keyboard. When I press the Caps Lock key, the indicator does not glow. After I use the mouse to make a reboot, the keyboard works fine again. Why the keyboard not work after a stop?

    It happened once or always?

    If it were a single boot problem, there is nothing to fear, sometimes a USB port is not so quick to wakeup, mayb try to change the USB port when the keyboard is connected.

  • Cannot restart; Function F8 does not work; stuck at "restart windows." Put in standby mode.

    Put the PC into standby mode.  Stuck in the status of "Recovery of Windows".  Impossible to restart.  Power off several times.  F8 doesn't work no more.

    I don't think that XP shows a message "Windows Recovery" when it comes out of Stand By.

    It does when it's Hibernation.

    If you've been cycling power, you can have damaged your system files a bit and should probably start by running a chkdsk/r from the XP Recovery Console.

  • ChkDsk does not work properly under Vista

    On Toshiba Satellite laptop computer Windows Vista, I have planned a Check Disk to run after reboot. I checked the two boxes (automacticly repair files and scan/repair bad sectors). I restarted the laptop and he appeared as chkdsk would run ok, because I saw this message:

    checking file system on C:

    The type of ntfs file system

    a disk check was schduled

    Press any key to cancel

    I do not press any key to cancel. But within 5 seconds to start, he said something like: "the disc is OK", then finished checkdisk and restarted windows.

    Why not run a full scan? How can I force it to run a full scan?

    If you don't mind, would you care to try again?

    Use these instructions...

    Start button > in the search box, type cmd > look at the top left, right-click on cmd.exe > click on Run As Administrator > press the Enter key.
    Now, you will see a black and white screen. It's your cmd window.
    At the flashing prompt type this... chkdsk/f/r
    It is preferable that you copy and paste that above the line of command to avoid the misspelling. There is a space between 'chkdsk' and ' / '.

    Press the Enter key.
    The window will say something like... (I'm paraphrasing)... he can't do it now, but it will restart. You want to do, o/n.
    Type 'y' as in Yes > press ENTER.

    Output of cmd window.
    Restart your computer > system will start the disk check.
    It will take a while... a long time. Sit back and wait. Do not turn it off.
    The system will restart when the disk check is complete.

  • CHKDSK does not work on startup, even if it was planned.

    I'm looking for some help with a problem of chkdsk. I tried to defrag my hard drive (Windows XP) using system tools like I did before.  I get the message "Disk Defragmenter has detected that Chkdsk is scheduled to run on the volume C:.  Please run Chkdsk /f."when I try to do, I get the message «the file system type is NTFS.»  Cannot lock the current drive.  Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process.  You want to schedule this volume to check the next time the system restarts? (Y/N) "if I said Y, nothing seems to change after I rebooted.  If I disable Norton antivirus protection, nothing seems to change either.  I'm afraid there can be errors on the disk that the chkdsk command cannot be correct because "the volume is used by another process."  What other 'process' this could make reference to?  Also concerned that I can't defragment.

  • Win XP chkdsk /f does not work on startup

    Hello

    I saw this answered for Windows 7 and Vista, but not for XP, so I'll give it a go.  I'm running a Lenovo T60 with Windows XP 32-bit SP3, all the Windows updates appropriate have been implemented and Norton 360 as my antivirus and firewall software.

    When I open the command prompt and type chkdsk /f r, I get "CHKDSK cannot run because the volume is in use by another process.  You want to schedule this volume to check the next time the system restarts? O/N.  Of course I type Y and press ENTER.  The command prompt tells me that the volume will be checked when I restart the system.

    If I restart the system.  And CHKDSK does not work.  Can I go back to the command prompt and repeat the above procedure, with the same result.  I can never get running CHKDSK.

    Previous discussions said that it had to do with running the command as an administrator.  I am the administrator.  What I am doing wrong?  How can I run CHKDSK /f/r?

    Thanks for your time and your advice.

    Click Start > all the programs > click on Accessories

    Click with the right button on command prompt and select run as:, and then select the user on
    Now type your username and password and press OK

    Then type chkdsk /f /r and press enter
    Press y to confirm the analysis during the restart.
    Then restart the PC and do not press any button or it will pop the scan.
