Choice of adapter LAN: Intel or Thinkpad?

I am setting up a Thinkpad E520 system on the Lenovo online store and I have to choose between

-Intel WiFi Link 1000

-Thinkpad 1 x 1 b/g/n

ThinkPad is selected by default. Is there a reason to choose the Intel LAN adapter instead?

Thanks again Dave. Better support and documentation like a plus for Intel. Also other sellers of laptop computers generally use WiFi Intel cards...

You seem as intrigued by questions of language pack as I am by the packs themselves. Thanks for looking into this.

  • Wireless and LAN problem with Thinkpad

Im having serious problems with my Thinkpad T61p on my wireless and LAN drivers (at least I think it is the drivers, could be something else). This can be a long explanation, but please bear with me.

Yesterday, after seeing an example on the net, I tried to connect my xbox 360 to my laptop. I thought I'd be able to play on the xbox wireless using the laptop as a gateway to my router. I never had any problems before with logins, and had the wireless on my home network.

After plugging in an Ethernet cable into the laptop and xbox (following the instructions, I had online), I became "Network connections", (start-> Control Panel-> network connections). I had used a cable to connect your desktop to my laptop before and normally when you go to network connections, the connection between them appears as an icon. This time, has no icon.

I decided to try and create a connection. At this point my wireless was still working because I was always browsing the net. On the left sidebar, I clicked on "create a new connection". Hit next, and then click the radio button "set up an advanced connection." "Accept inbound connections" option box pressed, the next button. Finally, a link has been created, but when I went to go again my wireless connection dropped. I went back and removed the link to "network connections".

I opened "Logins" and tried to connect to my home profile. No results. I tried clicking on 'Search' to see were there any other networks available and all I kept getting was: "the wireless radio is turned off. You want to turn on? ". Press 'Yes', landmark of waiting a few seconds, click on 'Search' again, same message. No matter what I did, I couldn't get the wireless to turn on. So I found this thread:

    http://forums.Lenovo.com/LNV/board/message?board.ID=T_Series_Thinkpads&thread.ID=3314&view=by_date_a...

and decided it was best to update access connections. It came as a default as version 4.42 so I updated to 5.12. Rebooted and tried again. Now the wireless starts up fine, but when I look for my router connections, some networks are located.

    Next to this thread:

I updated my drivers and countless other things without success. I've updated wireless drivers from this page and dial-up connections to:

    http://www-307.IBM.com/PC/support/site.WSS/document.do?sitestyle=Lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-67853#wireless

Another strange thing I see is that when I try to 'Create a new connection' 'Network connections', select 'Create a home or small business network', keep the progression through each other, it is to choose connections it is said that both my wireless and LAN are disconnected.

Wireless that I use is: Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AG

LAN: Intel 82566MM Gigabit Network Connection

It is not to have problems in Device Manager and that these two are enabled.

Does anyone have an idea of what is after occurrence and how I could fix this? Any help is greatly appreciated, because I need it for work soon.

    It sets obtained.

Essentially had to uninstall the network drivers (not enough I know) from Device Manager and reboot. After the wireless and LAN is back!

    • Blade architecture seems very appealing due to its density.  I can put in an IBM Bladecenter that would all the redundancy, management & switching in a package of tight 9U - Colocation of blades 10 I think.  But what about performance?

I'm working on a site with a range of materials, the older facilities are on PE6950, there is a VDI on R905 facility and a new migration environment being built on HP c7000 with BL685c G5 (full memory, Cisco/Brocade). All hosts are AMD either 82xx 83xx (Dual or Quad Core). We are working on the server of virtual machines migration of the blades HP 6950 on the newly built (and lightning quick).

VDI on of the R905 is easily blockage on vcpu scheduling without complaints from the users performance rote, which gives us 128 sessions VDI by R905 (quad quads, 64 GB) we head to connection broker shortly.

On the server we are on average 40 guests by 6950 and limited memory (8 cores, 32 GB of Ram)

We are hoping to reach 90 guests by Bl685c, but are only in the construction phase and test with no complaints to date - in particular with minimal wiring required. My calculations suggest that 96 GB will be the sweet spot for memory installed to BL685s, although they can support 128 GB at great expense. This translates into a theoretical capacity of 600-700 VMS by chassis running between 128 cores, which is just huge for a such small piece of rack space.

We went with AMD because at the time of the decision (many moons ago) their roadmap showed they would be stable on the new Barcelona for some time, so only intel or even to release the new set statement that would be compatibility likely vmotion - the wisdom here is definitely check the roadmaps on the cpu and server provider before committing.

Also, don't neglect the benefits of integrated with your blades remote management; It's yet another extra expense on individual servers.

Panel - device - network - WiFi note the check mark and all the info on the model Manager-
Double-click - writing Drivers version tab - click the driver update (this can do nothing as)
MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right click on the device - UNINSTALL - REBOOT -.
This will refresh the driver stack.

Go to system Maker and search for the WiFi Driver updated - download - SAVE - go where you put it.
Top - right click RUN AS ADMIN - REBOOT

Then go to the site of the manufacturer of the device and get even more recent (Realtek, Intel, or one that makes the device) and
    try to install again.

Download - SAVE - go to where you put it-click on - RUN AS ADMIN.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

  • X 220 with thinkpad b/g/n wireless (1 x 1 bgn) x 1 bgn) wifi adapter

    Hello

It seems that there are a lot of complaints around the Wifi adapter thinkpad b/g/n wireless (1 x 1 bgn). I really want to know how worse it is compared to Intel 6205 (not to mention 6300 - it really is a beast, people say).

Someone can let me know if fresh Lenovo as much for an upgrade like this (1 x 1 for intel 6205 thinkpad) and is it interesting?

    Thank you very much!

When you buy the 220 X of the U.S. online store the upgrade of 1 x 1 bgn 6205 was only about $ 15.

It is worth the upgrade of 1 x 1 to the Intel 6205 (the 6300 not so much). Especially if:

    1. your wireless hub is not a powerful antenna.
    2. a lot of people use the same 2.4 ghz band width.
3 and you can live with 150 Mbps (usually around 75 MB/s are more frequent) transfer speed.

  • Satellite L300-145 - Lan Adapter disappeared

I have a satellite L300-145 that gave an error in Windows Vista. Installed Win XP and bios upgrade to 1, 50 - Win.

After that, my local network adapter (not the wireless, but the cable) disappeared from the Device Manager and the laptop does not stop, just reboot. If I go to the bios and disable the internal lan, the laptop stops.

    Any help on this?

    Hello

The laptop seems to support chip Realtek LAN.
First of all make sure that the LAN card is enabled in the BIOS!

So remember that the Realtek LAN driver has been installed correctly.
Before you install the network driver, connect the LAN of the laptop and check if the Ethernet (network card) controller appear in device under network adapters Manager.

In some cases if no network cable is connected to the LAN Jack, the system turns off the network adapter LAN to extend the operating time of the battery.

I have a Windows Server 2012 machine connected to a Windows 7 Pro machine via a switch.

Internet is shared on the Windows Server and the port sharing network has a static ip address. Similarly, the port connected to the Windows 7 Pro has a static ip address. I was able to desktop Windows 7 remotely from the server without any problem until very recently.
